Health & Safety: I have always felt very safe on campus. The staff and administration know the students personally and care about them!

4 College Junior

Health & Safety: There has never been a time on campus when I did not feel safe. We have a security department that is top notch. We are also a closed campus which helps a lot.

4 College Senior

Health & Safety: I personally feel very safe on campus. Our security team is great and I enjoy how personal they are with us, they aren't just "doing their job". I love the security guards that I've gotten to know and I know that if I need anything that I can call them.

For a college campus, High Point is a pretty safe one. Rarely is there ever a major disturbance on campus. High Point security is a great group of people who have the students' best interests at heart. They generally don’t want to get you in trouble and are a very friendly group. Security will help you whenever you need it, and they can always be seen walking, biking, Segway-ing, or driving around campus. A great feature about the campus is the fact that it’s gated. With a completely fenced-in campus and welcome centers at every entrance, it is very reassuring to students to know that random people can’t just come onto campus whenever they feel like it. Another great feature is that once night falls, the lights come on! There are practically no dark spots, which is great if you have to walk across campus late at night. It’s kind of like daytime all night, and students are always comfortable walking around at night by themselves.

Student Health Services at High Point is pretty good. The running joke among students is that you can go in to the infirmary and no matter what your ailment, they’ll give everyone the same medication. Another bummer about the health center is that it’s not open 24 hours, which most students find inconvenient and weird for a college campus.
