Facts & Statistics

Tips for Getting In
  • Ask your admissions counselor what you can do to better your chances.
  • Be friendly and outgoing on your visits to campus.
  • Join extracurricular activities to flesh out your resume.
  • Prepare for the SAT so you can increase your chances of doing well on it.
  • Study hard in high school.
Things I Wish I Knew Before Coming To School
  • Don't bring too many T-shirts! The school hands out free shirts like it's their job. You'll accumulate so many through sporting events and random giveaways on campus that you won't have room for all of them!
  • Greek life is big. The social aspect of Greek life is important to the party scene of HPU. When the houses and apartments aren't open, then there really isn't anything big going on.
  • Housing after freshman year is difficult, especially for sophomores. A lot of sophomores get placed off campus or just not in the housing that they desire. Usually people can get moved around and things work out, but it's definitely a stressful situation after freshman year.
Interviews & Information Sessions
After taking your tour of High Point University, you and your family meet with your admissions counselor to answer any questions you might have. This counselor is designated by your home state and is there to help you through your admissions process if you decide on applying.
Campus Tours
Campus tours are available Monday through Friday every hour on the hour from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Campus tours are conducted by High Point students; prospective students are recommended to allow at least two hours for the visit, which can be scheduled online. Saturday campus tours are available during the summer at 10 a.m., 12 p.m., and 2 p.m.
Overnight Visits
The school doesn't have an overnight visit program. However, if you know a current student at HPU, he or she would probably be happy to have you over for a night.
Did You Know?
  • High Point University strives to make every experience on campus extraordinary. Your extraordinary experience starts with your first visit to campus when you see your name in lights on your personal parking spot. This extraordinary treatment continues as you are led around campus by a University Ambassador in an elongated golf cart (with cup holders!). The tours only get better from there, and it is definitely worth scheduling one!
  • High school seniors can schedule classroom visits on campus; they can also meet with an athletic coach if they'd like.
