4 College Freshman

Administration: There are a couple things that security over reacts to. For example they don't allow uber's on campus which is obnoxious. There are other things that security really needs to tone down but for the most part they do a good job of making sure everyone is safe.

Administration: The administration at the school upholds all of its standards and expectations for students as promised. They are fair in their decisions, but their main priority is to keep the campus safe, which they do very well.

4 College Freshman

Administration: The leniency allows the students here to make their own decisions. They don't always make the right decisions, but they have the freedom that they need to learn and grow.

Administration: I like the campus administration, they do a good job at keeping us safe.

4 College Sophomore

Administration: When it comes to rule breaking such as fast driving, jumping in the fountains, and noise complaints during exams, the school is pretty strict about fines and punishment. Alcohol and drug use, not so much.

It is true that High Point can be a little over-the-top when it comes to campus strictness. Students understand that they have an image to uphold and want to represent their school as best they possibly can. However, this understanding goes out the window when it comes to nightlife. Parties get broken up early, and it is very frustrating to kids who just want to go out and have a good time. Because of how strict it's gotten, most frat parties don’t even provide alcohol anymore—which is just not normal for a college party. Since HPU has expanded so rapidly in the past few years, security and the administration have started to crack down on nightlife. There are heavy fines if you get caught drinking or smoking on campus. If you happen to break something in your room or somewhere else on campus, expect a massive fine, as well.

One good thing that the campus is strict about is class attendance. Your professors will check up on you if you miss class, and usually if you miss more than three, you can be dropped from the course. While some students may find this annoying, it is in the students' best interests, and it’s reassuring to know that your professors genuinely care about you and your education.

Facts & Statistics

Students Are Most Likely to Get Caught...
  • Drinking
  • Having alcohol paraphernalia left out in your room during breaks
  • Making too much noise
  • Smoking
Visitation Policies
Having friends visit HPU is super easy. They can just stay in your room, and no one will ask any questions-although you do have to register him or her online through MyStuff. An overnight guest is only allowed to stay two consecutive nights. Guests will have to register their car with security if they drive on campus, but that's an easy thing to do at the security office. Also, when it comes to food, the easiest thing to do is to conserve your own meals earlier in the week so they can use them. If you don't feel like doing this, then using dining dollars or your general account is also an option.
Did You Know?
HPU is a keg-less campus. Kegs are not allowed to be at parties, and anyone who has one faces heavy fines and perhaps a loss of social privileges for fraternities.
