4 College Sophomore

Diversity: It's not the most racially diverse but pretty accepting for the most part.

3 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: Average for a college campus.

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: The professors care about the students, the classes are challenging and subjective grading in subjects like English, make it difficult to get A's.

3 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: Since the academics are challenging, I would guess that it prepares you well for graduate school, etc. It's difficult to get A's though especially for certain majors so your gpa may keep you out of a lot of graduate programs, medical schools etc.

3 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: Nothing has ever happened to me but I have heard of others being assaulted or robbed.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: Some dorms are kind of dirty and run down, the RAs are great, social atmosphere is hit or miss

3 College Sophomore

Athletics: The athletic events are not well attended.

3 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: It's a good college for certain types of people but hasn't been that great of an experience for me. I have found it difficult to get to know people here or make many friends but there are many students here that don't seem to have that problem. The professors try to get to know their students and make it easy to meet with them and get help.

4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: The professors are very helpful and the courses are a little challegnge

3 College Freshman

Overall Experience: careers are mentioned but at the same time not focused on much

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: Health and safety are adequate. Just like anywhere in the world you can't be 100% safe

4 College Freshman

Campus Housing: Housing is very available, but it is school housing so there really isn't much to expect

4 College Freshman

Athletics: I don't like exercise so I don't really use the athletic facilities

4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: The people are very friendly. I would choose to go here again because I really like the atmosephere

3 College Freshman

Drug Safety: It's easy to find nearly any drug you want if you know the right people. Alcohol is a huge part of the campus life, but in a way, it's what makes Hendrix what it is

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: PSAFE might not seem super active on campus, but I've never felt unsafe here. My best friend lives all the way across campus so there's been a ton of times where I'll have to walk back to my dorm late at night alone. During finals, they offer rides from the library back to your dorm at night which is pretty cool.

4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: All my classes have been under 25 students so far. All my professors have been insanely kind and welcoming. They truly want you to come talk to them, and see you succeed.

4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: As a freshman I haven't had too much experience with this, but from what I hear it's pretty good!

3 College Freshman

Campus Housing: It's true, the dorms are run down. However, I love dorm life!! Couch Hall has the greatest community and I met so many of my friends here. I can't imagine living anywhere else freshman year. We don't have sinks in our rooms, the rooms are pretty small, it smells weird at times, but the community is fantastic.

3 College Freshman

Greek Life: We don't have Greek life and that's good because it would have no place here.

4 College Freshman

Athletics: I love this place! I came in from out of state and not knowing anyone. With the orientation (you take a 3 day trip) I made some great friends i feel confident I'll know for life. Everyone is very accepting and welcoming. I can't imagine myself anywhere else. Also I know for some, Arkansas might be a turn off (I'm not from here and was hesitant myself to come) but it really shouldn't be! It's so much more beautiful than I expected and fall was amazing.

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: I feel pretty safe on campus and have never felt endangered.

4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: I have really enjoyed my classes and professors thus far.

3 College Freshman

Campus Housing: My dorm in Hardin is average. Compared to the dorm halls I have been in at other colleges, the dorms at Hendrix are VERY outdated and dirty. I find bugs in my room daily and the AC almost never works. I feel like I am not getting the quality of housing that I should for the money I am paying.

Athletics: I love being a part of a varsity sport. The facilities are amazing and the coaching is amazing. I wish that more students payed attention to the varsity sports teams on campus.

Hendrix College may not be for everybody, but for many students, it’s a wonderful choice. It’s a small school, which comes with both pros and cons. The downside is that there are less classes and majors to choose from, and that if you make any enemies, you probably won’t be able to avoid them until one of you graduates. The upside is that Hendrix is a tight-knit community where you’ll recognize many familiar faces on your way to and from classes, bonding over the popular annual events scattered across every students’ time at Hendrix. This community feel extends outside of the campus—alumni are friendly toward other Hendrix graduates, and even non-alumni in the Arkansas area generally have good impressions of Hendrix.

There’s always something to do at Hendrix, be it shopping at the ever-popular Walmart, taking advantage of the various off-campus dining options, seeing a movie, going to a club, or listening to a visiting lecturer. The faculty and staff are all friendly, caring, and truly devoted to helping you personally succeed at Hendrix. The food is great, with lots of options for even the pickiest eaters. The dorms can be crowded, but they’re also community-builders. Conway is a great small town, and Little Rock’s presence nearby doesn’t hurt, either, though Hendrix’s Central Arkansas location means some crazy weather and being in a dry county can be off-putting to some partiers. Public transportation may be nonexistent, but Hendrix makes it easy to have a car on campus, and many things are within walking distance anyway. When some of the biggest complaints about the school include the lack of proper drainage and the intermittent train whistles, you know you’ve got it made!
