Academic Flexibility

3 College Junior

Academic Flexibility: HCC mainly focuses on the nursing program, which means other areas of study don't receive as much attention. As a student pursuing psychology, there are only two courses available on campus which were covered by a high school AP class.

Academic Flexibility: The flexibility of classes is very good. I have been able to find classes I need and fit them all together very easily thus far. Financial aid is a hassle, but I believe that is more the fault of financial aid than it is of HCC's financial aid office workers. Those workers get frustrated also! I don't truly have any complaints about my experience at HCC. I also have been lucky and had my daughter to guide me along the way (she just got her associate's degree), so it may have been a different story without her assistance.

Academic Flexibility: Transferring my credits was pretty easy because my high school credits automatically transferred over to the community college except for Advanced Placement class test scores. Other than that one credit all my welding and other academic credits transferred over giving me a head start on my degree. When scheduling for a class we have to consult with our specially assigned advisers, who then recommend classes that will help further us in our degree and keep us on track with the career options we are planning on. After getting the approval of our advisers we are then able to enroll into our classes online. My adviser helps to work around my work schedule so that I can work and continue my college education.

Academic Flexibility: Love My School – Started out at Western Kentucky University, came home and have been succeeding ever sense. Currently on my 2nd degree. Have not had any problems with any credits transferrring in/out.

Academic Flexibility: ACT Given to Much Weight. I chose Henderson Comm. College because it is close to home and my life circumstances at the time. I have jumped majors and few times before finally deciding that Nursing is what I wanted to major in. I am in the LPN program and will graduate in Dec 2012. The college offers a LPN to RN bridge program, I just found out that I did not get accepted because I missed the requirement of a score of 19 on the ACT test. I have an 18 and did not get accepted because of one point. I have maintained a 3.4 GPA through the LPN program but because of the one pt. I am lacking I am not going to be able to do the bridge program. I think the ACT is given to much weight for this reason.
