Technology: There are so many computers and printers available for student use on campus, some of which are available 24/7.

Technology: I've had no problems with the computer labs or wireless at school.

Technology: I never really use school computers, but they look nice enough. I'm sure they're wicked solid, it's Harvard. Harvard hooks you up with free/super-discounted software like Microsoft Office and programs you'll need for classes. Wifi literally everywhere. Not sure how they do it. Super fast, all the time, all over.

Technology: Wish there were more iMacs in computer labs.

Technology: Pretty much everyone has their own laptop, but I don't think it would be too awful if you didn't have your own. There's wifi all over campus and it's really reliable. It's kind of annoying to have to pay for printing, but you'd probably have to do that regardless of which school you went to.

Student Author OverviewWhat's this?

View student contributors

Technology is increasingly important at today's colleges and universities, and Harvard certainly realizes that. Students have access to a number of computer labs, and every upperclass house has its own computer lab in the basement. Students benefit from a high-speed Ethernet network, as well as the Wi-Fi (wireless) network.

Despite these positive highlights, the majority of students recommends that you provide your own computer. Access to computer labs tends to be a weakness because of overcrowding, and having to print out an assignment at the last minute can be nerve-wracking when you are waiting for a computer to open. The hardware is there, just be patient and factor waiting time into your schedule if you plan on relying on Harvard's computer labs.
