Party Scene

3 College Sophomore

Party Scene: I wish there were more stuff to do around the city

3 College Sophomore

Party Scene: It could be better if the police would stop ending parties over BS. Not the best, but the most parties take place in the Harbors and some in the Heritage. The party scene could be better. But Hampton is just very strict when it comes to a lot of things!

3 College Senior

Party Scene: Nightlife is very quiet. On weekends, less quiet but still silent.

Party Scene: Hampton isn't really a party place when there is a party then it's always lit (fun).

Party Scene: Most good parties are off campus and get shut down fairly quickly

Student Author OverviewWhat's this?

View student contributors
Nightlife at Hampton can certainly be a pain for freshmen and sophomores and those without vehicles. If there isn't a party on campus, nightlife within walking distance of the campus is uneventful and not fulfilling. House parties are generally the alternative for students 21 and under. If you are older and licensed, there's a wider selection of parties and hangouts. The Peninsula Town Center, which is about 10 minutes away from campus, has a multitude of stores, dining, and other retail. It's a great place to catch a movie, shop, or unwind from a long week of classes and studying. Traveling to neighboring cities offers more fun things to do such as lounges and clubs for the older undergrad and graduate students. Granby Street in Norfolk is pretty popular, and so is Virginia Beach. Despite the distance, the great people and scenery are definitely worth the drive. On the nights with nothing to do, host a movie night with friends in the dorm or make plans in advance. Always have a back up plan!

Organization Parties
There are few organization parties thrown off campus. Most organization parties are held in the Student Center or in the sweltering Holland Gym with the lights on. These parties usually attract on-campus freshmen and sophomores. Many juniors and seniors live off campus and have cars; therefore, they don't waste their time with such lame parties.

Club ListingsWhat's This?

Peabody's Nightclub

With claims to the "biggest dance floor in Virginia Beach," Peabody's is known for its massive Thursday Ladies' Night. There's plenty of variety here in terms of music: top 40, hip-hop, dance, rock, and alternative-all depending on the night.

Virginia Beach

The NorVa

It is a music-lover's fantasyland. They have a state-of-the-art V-DOSC sound system-only the fifth installed in the country and only the second installed on the East Coast (what this means to the uneducated is that this sound system is bigger, better, and clearer than anywhere else).

317 Monticello Ave.

(757) 627-4547

Entourage Nightclub

Situated in the heart of Downtown Norfolk's financial district, Entourage is sophistication at its best. With five VIP areas, three full bars, year-round patio seating, and a lighted dance floor, Entourage takes an upscale approach to the club scene.

What to Do if You're Not 21What's This?

There's not a lot of nightlife offered for the 21-and-under individual. Most people hang out at Hooters or at Wal-Mart. Sometimes, house parties are thrown, but finding free transportation may pose a challenge. It's all about who you know.
