Overall Experience: It has been a good change, but not everything has always been clear or easy to understand. That is why it does not get that high of a rating. Some of the professors were hard to understand and did not use class time well, but there where some professors that were fantastic! So passionate about the subject, and were great resources. Hoping things will continue to change.

Greek Life: There is only two Greek houses, the fraternity and the sorority, but they aren't noticed much.

Athletics: Athletics are a way for every student to come together as a family and cheer on our fellow peers.

Overall Experience: Very friendly, a lot of trust and accountability. This school is very welcoming and open to new ideas.

Athletics: School spirit is incredibly high, and the facilities are very well maintained and presented. They are also accessible to all students which is nice. Team performance varies depending on the sport. I know members of various teams and they are all dedicated students and athletes. Overall the school and students seem very supportive of our athletics.

Overall Experience: After completing a semester I can honestly say I am glad I am attending Hamline. I am not fond of some of the general requirements, since money is tight and I would rather only take the classes I need to, though I understand the desire for a diverse education. I have mixed feelings about the professors I had this semester. The professors at Hamline all seem very passionate about their work and teaching, there are just a few that are not exactly personable. Hamline is unique as a small school in a big city and for some of the programs they offer, such as forensic sciences. I love the friends that I have made so far at Hamline and I really like how accepting the community is.

Academics: I love my classes in the Criminal Justice program and the different classes offered to fulfill my major requirements. The advisors for my program are really good at working with transfer students to get as many classes transferred in for credit as possible.

5 College Junior

Overall Experience: I transferred in so I mostly take courses in my major and I love my professors. I'm in the criminal justice program and my professors are knowledgeable and passionate about the issues facing our criminal justice system and the people that work in it. They make going to class something I look forward to every day. I had one freshman level class that was required for transfer students and was taught by an adjunct professor and I hated it. The teacher had the maturity of a sixteen year old boy with ADHD.

Overall Experience: I will be looking for an internship and a job within the next yea, and I think a Bachelors from Hamline will open more doors than one from some other schools in the MnSCU system or my Associates Degree.

Health & Safety: I don't live on campus and don't socialize with a lot of people that do, so I'm not the best person to judge the sexual atmosphere on campus.

Overall Experience: I thought the application process was easy, and I was given a lot of help finding financial aid resources.

Campus Housing: Average dorms, but larger then the U of M dorms. Each has their own problems, some worse than others (Ex. Cockroaches in Sorin). Great way to make friends and RA offer lots of great events through the year. Very convenient to live on campus. Cost is average. Easy to pick your room and roommate. Sharing a bathroom with a whole floor gets gross. Don't forget shower shoes and shoes to wear EVERY TIME YOU LEAVE YOUR ROOM.

Party Scene: Hamline is not a party school. There are great opportunities around the city to go out SAFELY with friends. Located right on the bus route to major transfer stations, Har Mar Mall, and Rosedale Mall. Also very close to the Metro Greenline on University Ave (only a few blocks away, less than a 10min walk).

Party Scene: Hamline is not a party school. Best parties will happen off campus. Most students go to the Gay 90s.

4 College Freshman

Athletics: D3 school but with some high ranking teams. Athletes are very supportive of other athletes. Fans enjoy sporting events such as basketball, football, and hockey.

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: Safety and Security is helpful and friendly, but rumored that they are slow to respond to some types of non-emergency calls. Overall, campus feels very safe, and Hamline is constantly working to make it even better.

4 College Freshman

Greek Life: Hamline is home to one two Greek houses. Small campus means few Greek life options. The options available are excellent- very welcoming and involved in good things on campus and around the city.

Academics: The process of registering for class is quick but can be difficult because the classes fill up within minutes.

Students are able to study just about anything they want as well as build their own major if needed.

Hamline is known for Psychology and Education but many other departments are growing quickly such as Criminal Justice and Digital Media Arts.

Overall Experience: Professors want students to excel. Easy to schedule office hours with most professors. Adjunc professors and full time professors are very knowledgeable and passionate about what they teach. Class sizes are never more than 80 and are usually about 20-30 so they can remain very interactive instead of being lecture based.

4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: Most students are employed on campus. There are great resources available to all students for finding jobs, internships, and independent study opportunities,

Overall Experience: Something that nobody tells you when you come to college is how much time you will spend by yourself. Being in high school, you are so used to constantly being around the same people and having class for 6 hours a day. I was not expecting to come to college and to be so lonely. Since you do not have class for 6 hours a day, you spend a lot of time in your room and just doing homework by yourself. Another thing is that the people are very similar to high schoolers. This is to be expected, since we were just in high school, but there are still a lot of cliques and you might feel left out when you come here. I think this is something a lot of people expected to diminish before coming to college.

4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: I was surprised in how much I liked Hamline, it had been a long time since I had visited the campus and I really love it. The professors are really knowledgeable and helpful, they really want their students to succeed. I'm really glad I chose Hamline.
