Off-Campus Dining

5 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: People usually eat on campus because there are so many options here, but off campus dining can be nice, too. Ordering Asian Bistro or Indian food can be fun.

5 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: The few places in Clinton are delicious (such as Tony's and Nola's), and just 15-20 minutes to New Hartford and Utica has all the "normal/common" places (fast-food to restaurants) you can think of (Chipotle, Applebess, etc.)

Off-Campus Dining: I do not go off campus very often. There are a few very good restaurants very close to the college. I am not sure about vegetarian or vegan options but there are definitely enough options off-campus. The price is average, very manageable if you don't dine out frequently.

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: There aren't that many options, and without a car it's hard to get there. But the food off-campus is pretty good.

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: A few options in Clinton and a lot in New Hartford. Jitney comes by every hour to get students there.

The biggest obstacle when you’re looking to go off campus for dinner is relying on blind faith. The most important thing is not to judge until after the meal. The reputations of most restaurants have been passed down from class to class, and nobody knows who tried it the first time, but in most cases, that original visitor was a brave soul. Restaurants such as Tex-Mex and the Mason Jar have unimpressive exteriors, but the food more than makes up for it.

The Utica area is home to a large number of various ethnic restaurants, enterprising students with access to a car or the bus can enjoy a large, delicious meal at a student-size price. Although newcomers to the area may feel as though dining options are limited at best, once they take some time to explore the surrounding area, many find themselves pleasantly surprised by the variety of local eateries. It is definitely worth talking to upperclassmen and checking the local paper; one of the advantages of living in here is that good food is cheap!
