Greek Life

3 College Sophomore

Greek Life: I'm not really a huge fan on Greek life to begin with. I love to volunteer and participate but greek life isn't something that I would participate in. I have heard of sororities and fraternities being really nice but I have also heard of them as being cliquey and snobby.

Greek Life: Obviously there is some stereotyping of greek life, but that is to be expected. The professional Greek organizations are less known and that is a shame (probably due to the fact that we do not party at all), but otherwise Greek life is great. Every house is held to high standards and most of them are very friendly en encouraging even to those who don't wish to be a part of Greek life. Same goes for non-Greek goers

Greek Life: I have not been a part of greek life, but the people who are apart of it seem to love it.

Fraternities and sororities value community service, and participate in many volunteer and fundraising events at Grand Valley every year. Participation in service events serves the purpose to better the community. GVSU’s Greek life prides itself in leadership development and offers its students opportunities locally, regionally, and nationally.

Many members of Greek life hold brotherhood and sisterhood as the most important aspects of the organizations. Members of fraternities and sororities constantly hold study sessions, academic programs, and strive to have the highest chapter average GPA to maintain high academics. Many organizations offer academic scholarships, too.
