Athletics: The student involvement, fan suppor, and school spirit on campus is very very poor.

Off-Campus Housing: After you factor in the cost of gas and the cost of utilities, it's better to just live on campus.

Off-Campus Dining: There are about 4 places to go off campus within Grambling but in the next town thre are plenty of resturants to attend.

3 College Sophomore

Administration: The campus strictness is very lenient.

Campus Food: The food on campus is sometimes good, the cafe has it days when it wants to be good. The best place to eat on campus would have to be Cash street because it reminds me of home with the soul food being served. The prices in the express can sometimes be expensive and the tiger bucks we have do not last long because of the prices.

Scholarships: The financial aid process for me was very easy for me, everything I had to do was online.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: The space and the funiture is very nice.

Off-Campus Housing: Most apartments close to school are either too expenisve or the landlords do not keep their properties clean

Off-Campus Dining: Going to ruston for food is a hassle ... especially for students without vehicles

3 College Junior

Administration: Most officers on the police force are very accomodaating and they listen very well

3 College Junior

Campus Food: Between the cafe and the express , i would always chose the express

3 College Junior

Scholarships: Being an out of state or in state student will always change the way the financial aid process works. Also depending on what types of aid you need and if you have recieved any other aid ... these are all factors that will have an effect in the financial aid process

3 College Junior

Campus Housing: There are always Pros and Cons to living on campus... I believe that the best thing about on camppus housing is the experience of meeting new people and having to adjust to other lifestyles. The worst thing to me would also be the same thing, because you never know ... where a person is coming from in their thoguhts and by you living with that person you are very subject to anything that could happen.

4 College Freshman

Administration: When we have policies in the area it makes the campus a safer place. Now that I know the the campus is safe I really enjoy living on campus.

4 College Freshman

Campus Food: When we go to the cafe we have different things that we can eat. Also, the food be hot when you get your plate. I like that its a buffet style and you can have as much as you want.

3 College Freshman

Administration: The school is very strict on a lot of things but in my opinion I think they should be more lenient with cooking appliances.

Local Area: Small towns so every one knows each other. There are plenty of shopping centers around the town. Safety is not a major issue around here.

Scholarships: Financial aid took longer than ever, and they lose half of the information you give them.

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

Grambling State University is an accredited HBCU that is full of opportunities—you just have to be ready take advantage of them. The University has a good academic reputation and an influx of companies—including IBM, Tyson, and Wal-Mart—come to recruit students annually. These companies offer internships, as well as full-time positions to students who fit their requirements. The social life at Grambling State is satisfactory. There are several party venues, and Plush is 5 minutes from campus. Other than that, the Yard is always a fun place to be between classes. You’ll regularly see the fraternities and sororities hanging out on the Yard and there will sometimes even be a stroll off. There are dorm parties every weekend, as well as off-campus parties. However, sometimes you’ll need to drive a bit, so a car is a necessity.

Some people say Grambling State is horrible because of its location, but if you know the right people who can tell you where all the fun is and if you have a form of transportation, you’ll be fine. The overall experience is good and acceptable for a university of its size. There are wonderful experiences just waiting for you to explore them.
