Overall Experience: My freshman year was a journey full of many obstacles that I was able to overcome with the help of my professors and peers. At Governors State University, I was able to truly feel accomadated to the environment. The professors are there to fully help you through the courses. If I ever had an issue I knew that I could simply approach my professors without feeling ashamed or embarresed. Not only was my freshman year a journey but, it also was a huge eye opener for myself. At times my character and values were put to the test, I always had to remind myself that if I wanted to succeed in life I needed to surround myself with postive people. My roommate had a huge impact on college experience, she was the person I was able to connect with because we had the same mindset of succeeding in college. Overall, my experience was great and look forward to continuing my studies here!

Overall Experience: I have been to 3 different colleges since 2010 and I honestly have to say this university has made me feel the most comfortable. I have never had a more welcoming and polite faculty that was willing to help. I am doing way better in my classes than I ever imagined, I even made the Dean's List for the first time. My teachers are a big help and they are very understanding when it comes to life outside of school.

Overall Experience: I think my experience has been average but I would prefer a great one.

Overall Experience: I love this school, it was close to where i live but not that close. It was a lot cheaper than other 4 year universities that I was considering that is why this university stood out more to me, the cost. The faculty was very welcoming and helpful throughout the semester and i just loved it.

Off-Campus Housing: A group of friends and i wanted to rent an apartment near the school for the second semester since dorming wasn't all that was cracked up to be. Unfortunately with high prices and proof that we worked full time, it wasn't happening.

Off-Campus Dining: If you don't have a care you are limited tot he places you can order from if you stay on campus.

3 College Freshman

Administration: Sadly some administration are racist, being a minor and a major of the administration as well being minors. They stick with their group. It's a handful of them but if you are careful you wont get in that bad of shape with them

3 College Freshman

Scholarships: Overall if both your parents make money and have a full time job you wont receive much aid like fafsa. I had to get most of my school paid off with loans which are gonna hurt me so much when i graduate but that is life.

Campus Housing: I live in the apartment style of housing, there are many downsides to living there. One is the paint is very cheap. When you move a chair you need to be extremely care you wont scratch the wall which is sometimes impossible. If you are studying in your room, forget it. You are better off walking to the main building to the library. The walls are so thin that you can hear your neighbors conversations. Besides all the downsides i love how you dont need to be a junior in order to qualify for an apartment style dorm like other colleges.

Athletics: First Year they had athletics there so I am not expecting anything major.

Off-Campus Housing: After viewing options in the area nothing is appealing to a student about living in the area. Alot of older people not suitable for college students looking for college experience.

4 College Junior

Administration: There's a Metra Station next to campus.

4 College Junior

Scholarships: Easy Parking nothing to crazy.

3 College Junior

Campus Food: The Campus food is nothing special.

3 College Junior

Campus Housing: I visited and since it is new it is pretty nice. But would rather not stay there

3 College Sophomore

Athletics: There is a gym with an okay range of equipment for a college student just looking to get some exercise in before class. But considering how often the basketball team practices, the gymnasium itself is usually occupied far too long for anyone not living on campus or part of the team to access it.

Health & Safety: The school is very dedicated toward student safety and works pretty hard toward keeping students aware of possible dangers. I haven't personally witnessed any incidents or been made aware of them since coming here.

5 College Sophomore

Majors: This school does have a very good commitment towards internship opportunities. You really need only look to find some assistance in whatever field you apply yourself towards.

3 College Sophomore

Local Area: This is a school for you to go to class and then go home. You can see everything you'd want to of interest round campus in about an hour. Luckily there are plenty of transportation routes to and from school.

3 College Sophomore

Academics: It is about what you'd expect. There are some good professors, some excellent professors. And then there are some just s eager to end class as the students are. Strongly recommended that you go to ratemyprofessor as it is usually the best way to find what teachers can provide what you are looking for. The curriculum consists of subjects that cover the basics of what. you'll need. Though frankly some classes required to get certain degrees do appear wholly unnecessary.

2 College Sophomore

Greek Life: This is not yet a school that houses fraternities or treats them in any sort of special way.

1 College Sophomore

Party Scene: This is not a school for parties yet. Most people here just come and go to class with maybe a few school functions and events inbetween. The campus housing is still too new.

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: Do not expect to find much knowledge or experience in off campus housing considering this place just recently became a school with housing. It still needs to learn to walk.

2 College Freshman

Party Scene: I am not a party girl, and I do not go to parties, but the one party that I did attend was horrible and creepy, my experience was bad. We are the first freshman class and we have no leeway to have fun when all the older people of the campus are grumpy that we are there.

Health & Safety: I think the safety issue on campus is great. My college is not in the best area but the cops do have escorts to the car if we need them, they are on all sides of the campus making sure everyone is safe, and always in the campus to ensure everything is in tacked.
