3 College Senior

Transportation: Shuttles take you to nearby cities and airports i.e. Harrisburg, Baltimore, BWI, Dulles, and D.C.

3 College Freshman

Transportation: First years cannot have cars which is unfortunate, but so much happens on campus you hardly need one. Make friends with someone who has a car to go to places like Chipotle or Target--it's always very helpful. The burg is pretty isolated but you can get all you need by taking a short walk into town.

3 College Freshman

Transportation: If you need to go somewhere specific the college transportation is okay, but the shuttle service to major transportation hubs is pretty bad because pick-up times are three hours apart from each other.

2 College Freshman

Transportation: does not have much to help get around.

3 College Freshman

Transportation: Is okay but for student it should be free

Unlike larger institutions, at Gettysburg, there's no need to deal with the confusion of bus lines and schedules. Firstly, there just aren't any and, secondly, because there is simply no reason why you would need to go anywhere that far. The entire campus can be traversed in about 20 minutes by foot, and just about every academic building can be reached from any dorm building within 15 minutes-and usually much quicker.

The school does offer transportation off campus, including shuttles to the three nearby major airports and all other public transportation hubs. Though the price is a little high, and it requires reservations, it is a convenient and generally reliable way to get to and from the airports and stations. Around academic breaks, transportation services opens up its schedule, offering frequent shuttles to local airports.

Facts & Statistics

Best Ways to Get Around Town
It's easy to walk or bike into the center of town for a bite to eat, but for a trip further away (say to a supermarket or Wal-Mart), it's more realistic to have a car or be friends with someone who does.
Best Ways to Get to the Airport
Take a shuttle from the Transportation Office for $20, or catch a ride from a friend.
