Local Area: The Augusta area does not have the college feeling on or off campus. I am used to being around large colleges like USF in Tampa, Fl. So when i came to ASU it was a reality check for me. Not many places around to socialize or meet new people. The library on campus hours are not flexible during the times you need (for people that work until 5 PM). Augusta is a small city with not that much culture in the area. If i could choose another school to go to i would but there are not many options in this area.

Off-Campus Housing: not many options in the augusta area for apartment living to be around college students. There are many places that are not the best to live at around the augusta area which makes trying to find an off campus living situation hard for students coming from out of the area.

Administration: This school has a good biology department and has just recently merged with a medical college. So there are now more majors and programs in medicine and health.

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: I have never had any problems with security issues. I have always felt safe, even when walking from my late classes.

3 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: the guys and girls differ at Augusta state university. they all come in different shapes and sizes. our school is very diverse , so anyone person can be found here. with asking people if they could find a relationship for themselves here at Augusta state, they all answered no.

Party Scene: the night life for Augusta state university is alright. the only time you could find something to really do at night is sorority parties or school parties. not much to do , and if you try to go to clubs you have to be 21 and older. some can differ, but its generally 21 and older.

Local Area: Augusta is hidden and it takes a while to really explore what the area has to offer. going to school at Augusta state university has been an experience but sometimes there isn't much to do here.

5 College Freshman

Campus Food: Augusta state university dining is amazing. there are a variety of food choices and you never have to wait to long to be severed. probably one of the things i love about this college.

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: Plenty of college affordable restaurants right down the road from University Housing and if you don't have a car then it's nor problem because you can take the public transit.

1 College Freshman

Administration: Umm, if you get caught for underage drinking you can get in some big trouble. If you live in the University housing, you can get kicked out if you let your grades slip or get pregnant. No parties are allowed in school housing either.

4 College Freshman

Transportation: Transportation is good. There are about three shuttles that run every fifteen minutes until after about five in the evening then they run every thirty minutes. There is also public transportation that is free to the college students. Campus police will escort you to your cars if you take late night classes.

4 College Sophomore

Scholarships: Make sure you give yourself plenty of time before the deadlines.

2 College Junior

Party Scene: Campus activities end pretty early, usually around 4:30 or 5:00. Usually if there is a late night event, it is hosted in the student activities center ballroom, or in the performing arts center, there are also sports events that you can attend at Christianberry Fieldhouse, but there is no alcohol involved at any on campus event. Transportation is provided with Augusta State's shuttle buses. Off-campus there are bars and nightclubs around downtown Augusta, about 10-15 minutes from campus

3 College Junior

Drug Safety: The drug scene at Augusta State university is minimal, but it is still there. The biggest drug usage on campus is that people are often seen smoking cigarettes.

2 College Junior

Diversity: There seems to be many different races and religions at ASU but it is poredominately white. Coming from a HBCU it was kind of a culture shock for me. Although there are many different ethnic groups at my old university, it seems that it was accepted more to be different. At ASU i sometimes feel like an outcast.

Overall Experience: My experience at ASU (now GRU) has been very positive. Academics are challenging, but the professors are very willing to help you. The dining areas have a nice variety of food and in some places are open late. The access of technology is great. The students are awesome. Overall is has been a great experience.

Weather: The weather in Augusta can quickly change. In the summer, it is very hot. In the Fall, it can be a little warm or cool. In the Spring, it tends to rain on and off (some downpours). In the Winter, it feels like Spring sometimes and others it is very cold.

5 College Senior

Guys & Girls: Students at ASU (now GRU) are so different and unique, it is awesome to be around them. Everyone seems friendly (even if you have never met before).

2 College Senior

Parking: Even with the addition of two new parking lots, it is still quite complicated to find parking places due to the large amount of students each semester.

4 College Senior

Off-Campus Housing: The off-campus area that I chose is located only 10 minutes away from school and the neighborhood was fairly new and quiet.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Food: Campus dining while limited, is pretty good. It's slightly on the more expensive side, but most campus dining halls are. The service is normally really good & quick, I'm able to stop and get food in between my classes.

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: There aren't too many restaurants right by campus, but if you drive a couple miles down the road to Washington Road, there are a plethora of choices for food, ranging from fast food like McDonalds to nice dine-in restaurants like Olive Garden.

4 College Freshman

Transportation: Transportation is great for those that stay in the dorms, but if you are driving on your own, parking isn't great :-(

4 College Freshman

Weather: The weather is pretty moderate, but I wish it would snow every now and then.

3 College Freshman

Diversity: I feel as if ASU has plenty of diversity, but there is definitely room for more. There does seem to be more white people, but not much, much more.
