Academics: Teacher -To -Student Relationship – I came to Augusta State with an expectation of coming to a university with no sort of fun. To my surprise Augusta state has been one of the places i have had the most fun at. I came to college with the idea that college is a big classroom with students and professors who may not even know your name. Being from an African Background of course i have a tough name that is hard to pronounce, but my teachers seem to not only know my name but ask if i need help, yes the office hours are helpful and the reception i get is the reason i consider my self a proud jaguar.

Majors: Plenty of Opportunities – I transferred from another school that was too regimented in its healthcare studies; ASU gives me a lot more choices to keep me interested and my grades up, both in and outside of my major. ASU also attracts a lot of talent to their new performing arts center. You can get a broad experience here that gets missed elsewhere.

Campus Quality: Association With Community / Professional Scene – ASU is partnered with Georgia Health Sciences University which makes healthcare instruction and related experiences first-rate; also the large number of area hospitals makes it a good area for internships and follow-on medical related occupations. There are a lot of health/wellness related community fundraisers that help to strengthen the between students and others.

Drug Safety: Not Prevalent – Drugs and alcohol are not heavy activity on campus or area.

Academics: Professors are available for help and advise. Some grade on a questionable scale

Local Area: Vibrant city. Nice art museum. Professional hockey, baseball. Shopping

Academics: Some of the professors are genuinely concerned about their students. Some have a bizarre concept of grading.

Overall Experience: It's Ennjoyable – My experience at Augusta State has been enjoyable for the most part. Making friends has been easy and attending this institution allows me to have a social life in my home town as well.

Off-Campus Housing: Off-campus housing at Augusta State isn't convenient for students at all. A majority of the students commute over twenty minutes to campus, and the housing the institution provides is scarce and over expensive.

3 College Freshman

Technology: Augusta State University has several computer pods on campus, but are often unavailable which is why most students need a lab top. Having a personal computer allows the students to take notes in the classroom and access the internet at any time.

3 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: Social Life – Students at Augusta State are easy to interact with and it's easy to make friends with anyone in every class. The facilities provide students with great opportunities to interact socially.

4 College Freshman

Diversity: Augusta State has a wide variety of ethical backgrounds on their campus. Every classroom has people from different backgrounds that will better prepare students for the real world.

Campus Quality: Student Activity Center – The student activities center at Augusta State University offers a game room and dining hall that provides students the chance to interact with each other. The idea of using students as managers is fantastic, and they are always on duty and helpful.

Guys & Girls: Guys and Girls – the students at ASU are very diverse. There are many different ethnic groups. Many students dress a variety of ways: some dress fairly comfortable, some preppy, and some sporty. Girls usually dress presentable, they wear flat shoes normally but I see some where heels from time to time. Guys dress normal unless they have to dress up for a ceremony or class presentation. I see many different styles between the girls and guys at ASU, and I like that about my school. The social life at ASU is good, everyone pretty much gets along. There arent many parties, but a lot of people hang out at the student center on a daily basis.

Local Area: The local atmosphere is very attractive and busy. The nieghborhood it very clean and safe. The Augusta Mall is close by and there is a local airport not too far away. There are events year round, the most important being the golf tournament, which Augusta is well known for. Augusta State University has many sports teams that have games year round also, but our most important and recognizable team is our golf team, which won the championship last year. Above all, ASU students are well known and respected in the area.

Campus Quality: The Help Is Always There. The thing I love the most is that if you are struggling and you try to do the work. The professor are there for you. You have to go to them and ask for help though. If the professor cant help you, then go to any of the tutoring people. They have one for every subject that I know of.

Health & Safety: Police Is Always There for You – If someone is hurt, then you call the police and they will come as soon as possible. They tell you if something is going on on campus or even near the campus. They tell you about the weather, so you know if it is going to be a big storm.

Local Area: A Lot of Cheap Things to Do. There is a aquarium near by that is 2 dollars if you are a student. They are different place you can cheaper, because you are a student. I do like that different times of the year Augusta State gives you two tickets for two dollars to go do something. If you go, you will get your two dollars back.

Administration: Not Something I've Run Into – I have never had any run-ins with school policies that have negatively affected my experience. I think the strictest rule I see enforced is parking. An employee drives around every day looking for cars without permits, and the police love to give out tickets to those parked illegally near campus. The rest are no-brainers: you WILL be expelled for cheating, drug use on campus is prohibited, ect.

Off-Campus Dining: Limited Near the Campus – Augusta has some decent places to dine, but the city is so spread out that they are difficult to reach without a vehicle. The closest places are still a far walk, with a half-mile at the minimum.

Scholarships: Stay Away – Stay away from the Financial Aid and Business offices.

4 College Sophomore

Transportation: There are shuttles that go between the three separate campus locations on a timely schedule. The city also has a transit authority if you need to get anywhere besides campus.

3 College Freshman

Scholarships: The only financial aid I am receiving at the time are student loans. It's a pretty long and hectic process for getting financial aid at Augusta State. The financial aid office is always pact at the most needed times. Tips for going through this process would be just to get everything handled ahead of time.

Campus Housing: Although I do not live on campus, I have many friends that do and while visiting them I have noticed what a great place it seems to be for living. The apartments are pretty spacious and within your room you're provided with sufficient furniture, including a bed and mattress. There's many parking spaces available without worry, and it's a gated community, so it feels a lot safer. After hanging at ASU's University Village, I now plan on staying there next year.

Overall Experience: Pretty Cool for a Small-Town University – Augusta State is currently merging with the former University of Georgia to form a "super-school." I just moved here from Atlanta's Georgia State University and though the nightlife is severly lacking in diversity, it is possible to find interesting, open-minded people on campus if you keep your eyes peeled! In my program (Psychology) there are plenty of mentors--students and professors alike--who are willing to take a new student under his/her wing. Overall a very welcoming campus for a transfer student!
