Greek Life

3 College Sophomore

Greek Life: I have a lot of friends who are Greek but it depends on the sorority/fraternity as to what their reputation is on campus.

3 College Sophomore

Greek Life: It's very clique-ish in some ways. The people are nice enough, but the school acts like Greek life is the only extracurricular activity out there. My club had a room reserved and they took it back and gave it to some sorority. They'll tell you the campus population is only 20% Greek but their influence is about 80%.

Greek Life: I am a part of Greeks Life here and I think that it is wonderful! We still get to enjoy Greek Week and other things that bring the Greek community together.

Greek Life: I personally can't afford to pay an extra $1300 for friendship.

Greek Life: Greek organizations do great things for the community, but come off as snobby.

Greek life seems to be very important to GCSU. Since there are nine fraternities and nine sororities, it often appears that anyone can find their right fit. Fraternities and sororities give students a way to enhance their college life through leadership opportunities, community service, scholarship, and the overwhelming feeling of brotherhood or sisterhood.

Alpha Delta Pi, Zeta Tau Alpha, and Delta Zeta sororities have houses on campus in which the members of their executive boards live. Frequently, Greek life is associated with a negative image, but Greek life at GCSU strives to be a positive organization on campus and within the community.

Did You Know?
Each sorority and fraternity has its own national philanthropy with which it is affiliated. Every organization puts on several fundraisers a year to raise money for philanthropy and to give back to the community! So even if you hear a bad thing or two about sororities or fraternities, remember-they are doing a lot of good, too!
