Campus Quality

4 College Sophomore

Campus Quality: There isn't really one central location like a "student center" but there are plenty of places around campus that are great for meeting up, hanging out or studying. In my opinion there aren't enough on campus activities. Front campus is beautiful, but it's only used for boring stuff like career fairs or speeches.

The coolest place to hang out at on campus is the Student Activities Center. The center was recently remodeled and is an awesome, state-of-the-art place for students to chill. There are massage chairs, Wii and Xbox 360 video game systems, pingpong, TVs with comfortable seating, and a soft drink dispenser where you can get unlimited fountain sodas.

The College is also currently working on a new, $28 million Wellness and Recreation Center. The center will feature an aquatic center, a recreation pool, basketball and volleyball courts, a climbing wall, workout classes, and much more! In terms of academic facilities, the library on campus has adequate space for students, and during finals week, the school opens up other facilities on campus for students.

School Slang
  • A&S: Arts and Sciences Building
  • The Pit: The park across from the dorms
  • Saga: The campus dining hall
  • Hanging of the Greens: Every November, the campus is adorned in lights and greenery for the holiday season. One night at the end of November is the actual "Hanging of the Greens" event, with cookie decorating, hot chocolate, carolers, and holiday fun. At the end of the night, all of the lights are turned on and revealed for the first time. It is a great way to spend time with friends before leaving for the holidays.
  • Homecoming Weekend: During Homecoming Weekend, the campus comes to life with activities for students. The night before the Homecoming game, the school hosts a concert for the students; past performers have included BOB, Cartel, Sister Hazel, and many other great acts! The best thing about these concerts is that students get in for free with their Bobcat ID and can buy discounted tickets for friends from other schools. The day of the Homecoming game, "tent city" is put up. Every organization on campus sets up a tent outside of the Centennial Center, and students are able to go tent to tent visiting the other organizations and sharing food. It is a great way to meet people as well as an awesome opportunity for alumni to visit. The Homecoming game is always packed with people, and during halftime, Mr. and Miss Georgia College are crowned. The nominees for Mr. and Miss Georgia College are selected within every organization and campaign the week leading up to Homecoming.
