3 College Sophomore

Athletics: Homecoming is of course the major athletics scene. Everyone is there but I think more people attend club games or intramural games based on their friends playing time etc.

4 College Sophomore

Athletics: The newer wellness center is great for non-athletic students. It offers many different work out activities. The only real downside is that it is at West Campus so it can be a hassle for those living on main campus.

3 College Sophomore

Athletics: We have sports teams, but I never hear anyone talking about them. The only time it matters is at homecoming. It's really a Greek life thing. Don't come here for the athletics environment. The student body and the town aren't really supportive. The school is good at acting like they care.

3 College Senior

Athletics: We do not have any big named sports team, but we did get a new wellness center that has everything you could possibly think of in terms of getting fit!

3 College Junior

Athletics: The gym is great for students that live on campus.

Athletics at Georgia College and State University is definitely on the rise. Basketball and baseball are by far the most popular sports, but there is plenty of Bobcat pride in all of the other sports, as well. The Thunder Crew helps to boost school spirit through tailgating before home games.

Georgia College also offers intramural sports for those who may not be ready or have the time for college sports. The facilities are constantly being improved and are sure to meet your demands. A major advantage for students is that for every home event you can get in for free with your Bobcat ID. If you decide to be involved in Greek life, each sorority and fraternity has its own intramural team, as well.

Most Popular Sports
Baseball and basketball are the most popular sports at Georgia College-although the soccer, golf, and tennis teams are very successful, as well.
Most Overlooked Teams
The Georgia College cross country team often does not get as much recognition as it should. The course on campus has both 5K and 8K options, and in 2008, it was the host of the Peach Belt Conference Championships.
School Spirit
Although GCSU may not have the overwhelming school spirit of larger schools, there is clearly Bobcat pride. Before basketball and baseball games, there is usually a tailgate where students can get together before the game.
Getting Tickets
You can buy tickets to any of the sporting events at the actual event, but students get in free with their Bobcat ID.
Best Place to Take a Walk
Daily, you will find students walking around "The Pit," which is the small park between the dorms and the Bellamy Apartments. Students also walk/run around campus and the downtown area.
Did You Know?
The Venture Out program on campus provides students an opportunity to go skydiving, caving, white water rafting, camping, hiking, and tree climbing!
