5 College Sophomore

Campus Quality: Since it is a city campus you get to feel like you're living in a huge city but also feel safe because you know exactly where campus starts and stop.s

Campus Quality: All the buildings are pretty nice and the library is spacious! The athletic center new and they have a great cafe inside for healthy snack options.

2 College Sophomore

Technology: The internet is so bad and slow but having your own computer would be beneficial.

4 College Sophomore

Greek Life: Greek life is pretty big and even though most people are not in it, you see it everywhere. It helps makes gwu into a smaller school and helps keep you up on events and helps you find the people most like you at your school.

Overall Experience: I love everything about GWU except for the weather. There is truly never a dull moment here.

Off-Campus Housing: The best places to live are 2400 M and the Avenue. They are clean and very close to campus. They are expensive, but not ridiculous if you plan to live with multiple people.

Administration: The biggest thing here is that not only are there gwupd but there are also dc police.

Campus Housing: The dorms at GWU are a lot different than most schools. I currently have a microwave, oven, dishwasher, and dining room. Amsterdam and Ivory are some of the best for sophomores and juniors. As for freshman Thurston was a great experience, but it was not clean. All dorms have private bathrooms except for Mitchell which also happens to be all single rooms.

Majors: There are so many options. I'm a political science major and I love it. The professors are great and there are a wide variety of classes to take and obviously incredible internship opportunities.

Majors: Internships in DC are the best. The opportunities are endless and most places expect students to intern so the hours are not demanding and you get great experience. Most people have them during the semester!

Weather: It is so cold. If you are not from somewhere where there is a lot of cold weather I would recommend not coming here. Even if it is snowing people will go out in nothing more than a mini skirt and heels.

Campus Food: We don't really have campus dining. We have one dining hall but people generally only eat there freshman year because they have to. After freshman year people eat at Whole Foods. So you could say Whole Foods is the cafeteria technically which is amazing.

College Sophomore

Parking: People do not have cars here because it is a city and parking is impossible and if you do drive it is expensive and you won't find a spot on campus.

College Sophomore

Scholarships: I did not apply for financial aid, but I have heard that it is fairly simple here if you do it on time.

Diversity: GWU is extremely diverse. There are people from all types of ethnic/racial backgrounds and people are very inclusive regardless of your religion, sexual orientation, or political beliefs. As for religion, it is mostly a Jewish crowd but sometimes you will find someone who is not Jewish. The economic background at GWU is relatively homogenous. Most people are well off.

3 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: The typical student at GWU is Jewish and wealthy. Even though people say it doesn't matter if you aren't Jewish or wealthy it does. If you go out for the weekend be prepared to Uber and either pay cover at a bar/club or pay for drinks once you're inside. Guys and girls are similar. Both dress well and are interested in going out and partying. As for relationships, those are rare. People mostly hook-up or consistently hook-up with someone for a while without dating. As for interests GWU is very diverse so you can find just about anyone with the same interests as you.

College Freshman

Athletics: I am not athletic. The basketball facility is really nice.

3 College Freshman

Campus Food: Campus dollars buy ok food. Off campus dollars provide the best option for good food. More off campus dollars available each semester which is good. Also, encourages you to try eating at different places.

4 College Freshman

Academics: Challenging. Most profs great…others not so much

College Freshman

Drug Safety: I am not a drug or alcohol user

College Freshman

Students at GW tend to complain a lot about the pricey tuition, lack of school spirit, perhaps unnecessary new facilities, and excessive nickel-and-diming. However, most students stay at GW for four years—GW’s retention rate is 91 percent. Many students are also upset about how GW compares academically to other schools, and that the science labs and facilities are run-down and old. GW students want the best and sometimes the University does not live up to their expectations.

Although GW provides students with a large variety of entertaining on-campus activities, students can also go off campus and enjoy the city. The University’s location in DC makes most GW students’ experiences worthwhile and interesting. GW would not be the same, nor as wonderful, if it were not located in DC. The city adds life, variety, and uniqueness to the campus environment. Students have the opportunity to land incredible internships while taking classes. The city also offers countless off-campus shows, productions, sporting events, restaurants and bars, museums, and (of course) the monuments to visit. Washington is the perfect college town because it attracts young people from all over the country, gives students amazing opportunities, and is easy to manage. GW is a great place to be—most students are happy to spend their four years here.
