Off-Campus Dining: i don't go off campus much.

5 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: I honestly think it's better than most on-campus dining places. There are a lot of korean restaurant around campus and they are at reasonable prices. I-Hope also has discounts for college students which is really nice. I would say that most of the korean food in this area is really healthy compared to some on-campus dining areas.

4 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: Every restaurant I've been to is pretty good in terms of quality so i have no reason to complain.

4 College Senior

Off-Campus Dining: The restaurants in the neighboring area fit just about anyone's needs and are pretty well priced. I love the Auld Shebeen.

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: There are a variety of places to eat off-campus with plenty of variety from different types of cuisine!

View student contributors

If students start planning right when they get to campus, they might have time to visit all the restaurants in and around the Fairfax area, but chances are, even upperclassmen haven’t dined at all of the great locations the area has to offer. Students have their pick of any type of cuisine they can imagine, at varying price levels. So when the on-campus options start to taste bland, it’s convenient for students to jump in the car or catch a bus into Old Town Fairfax and sample some of the eats the town has to offer—as long as they don’t need to make it back to class within an hour.

Some student favorites include Noodles & Company, a small chain in the Virginia, D.C., and Maryland area, which has all different kinds of noodles from pad Thai to Wisconsin mac and cheese, and the Auld Shebeen, which doubles as a bar. Every popular fast food chain imaginable is also somewhere within 15 minutes of campus for students who don’t have a lot to spend on a big meal. Some eateries in Fairfax, like Subway in Old Town and Brion’s Grille, accept Mason Money, the bonus money that comes with a meal plan, which is convenient for students who have meal plans and can’t afford too many of the nicer off-campus places.
