Drug Safety: My Christian friends and I had a lot of get together times and had our own kind of parties, smaller group kinds.

Overall Experience: I learned more about myself and grew up a bit more while I was here at Gallaudet.

Health & Safety: Sometimes, I feel that the DPS are too quick to send people to the hospital even though the individual may not want to go. I was nearly coerced into going to the emergency room until the EMT evaluated me, and asked if I wanted to go or not. That was the very first time when I realized that I had the right to say "no" to attending the emergency room or hospital treatment.

Overall Experience: When I come back to work as a lifeguard and swim instructor, I often feel the people know me before I even know who they are. This is something that I am not used to. I used to walk through the hallways, and rarely anyone would greet me. As a staff and alumni, I feel a total different atmosphere from when I first started at Gallaudet.

Campus Housing: Sometimes when I am being told to move from one building to another at the last minute, it is very stressful and hard on my body. I become really tired. I also felt that the other students were very loud at times, when they scream or yell just to be yelling or screaming.

Greek Life: I chose not to join the Greek organization after watching their pledges, as an outsider. I feel that the Greek organization take way too much time away from school work and jobs. They party way too much too.

Athletics: I was on the swim team for the first time in my entire life. I felt that sometimes the team was not always very supportive to my studies, and I felt that they were not very sensitive to one another's feelings or limitations. It was a very challenging sport for me, but the one thing that I enjoyed the most about swim team, is when I got to swim in the events and did my long distance swims. I also learned how to do new swim strokes. Even though I was the slowest swimmer on the team, I lost quite a bit of my weight due to the exercise and dietary changes.

Overall Experience: I have learned a lot about myself and overcame many challenges that I never was able to do prior to Gallaudet. I felt like the faculty and staff cared enough about my learning to keep me from giving up so easily. Many of the residential staff have urged me to keep hanging in there and not give up, even during my hardest times.

Party Scene: The parties are crazy and sometimes the students don't know their limits when it comes to drinking

4 College Sophomore

Party Scene: crazy and sometimes out of control

3 College Sophomore

Academics: This school want to see everyone succeed and graduate

3 College Sophomore

Diversity: Everyone talks about diversity but their are some people who treat hearing people differently then hearing folks

3 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: Everyone smokes weed and if you do they constantly ask if you want to smoke and keep smoking. As for alcohol they party every weekend.

3 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: when I first enter this school the teachers encourage others to sigh more to get comfortable with our sighing skills

3 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: They want everyone to graduate and do well in class

4 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: Their a big fence that surrounds the campus and the security that rotate around the campus just to keep us safe

3 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: The campus housing is good but it depends on the people that lives their. Some people damage the campus housing and everyone on that specific floor would have to pay for it.

3 College Sophomore

Greek Life: In order to get into the greek life you have to have a lot of money which I don't have.

3 College Sophomore

Athletics: I don't really pay attention to sport teams because I don't play many sports

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: When I first applied for Gallaudet university I didn't realize that it was completely full of deaf people. Their is a full community that I didn't know about I picked up sign language the one month ive been there and it been very fun.

3 College Junior

Athletics: All teams get their fair share of support, but the only teams that seem to win are the soccer teams. Not sure what's going on with the other teams.

3 College Junior

Overall Experience: Most of the classes are very predictable. Teachers are very open to hearing what you have to say. The only homework you'll probably get are essays or videos. Some classes require presentations. Not a big deal, if you're already fluent in ASL. If you're not, I suggest you brush up on your signing.

3 College Junior

Overall Experience: I don't think a degree from this school would put you over other applicants (unless the job is centered around deafness) like maybe an Ivy League school degree would, but it's certainly a step up from people who don't have ANY degrees.

2 College Junior

Health & Safety: Lately, we've been having an issue with sexual assault on campus, and I don't feel too comfortable outside at night. I always make sure to watch my back and look out for suspicious people.

3 College Junior

Campus Housing: Benson Hall (freshman dorm) was pretty bad. The building looks fine from outside but the rooms inside look very depressing. You should plan to decorate it. You have community showers in there, so it's best to wear flip flops in the shower, because it's pretty gross in there.

I did like the LLRH6 dorm, which is for sophomores. The rooms look a little better, and you only have to share a bathroom with two or three other people, instead of the whole hall. There are kitchens in there for all you chefs, and the common areas look nicer. There is also a "snack bar" on the very first floor, so you should try to go there sometimes.
