Campus Quality

Campus Quality: The Frostburg campus facilites are alright they aren't cutting edge or anything but there nice enough in my opinion. the thing is that some buildings and residence halls are much nicer and well kept than others. some buildings are really old like Cumberland hall and some buildings are brand new or newly renovated like the CCIT building or the lane like i said the facilities are alright.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Quality: The buildings are becoming outdated, but there are efforts to transform and renovate currently going on.

5 College Junior

Campus Quality: I honestly love student life on campus. From the people, to the places, Frostburg State University was definitely the best school I could have picked. The school is perfectly mid-sized, so you get to meet a lot of great students and are able to create meaningful relationships and connections with the genuinely caring, well-qualified faculty. The campus is already beautiful, rain or shine, and its constantly being renovated to stay as modern as possible for the students. We are currently adding an amazing new building for our Mass Communications, Math and Technology majors, as well as revamping our dining hall and food court. Dorm life has brought me great experiences while I've been here and there are many perks such as free laundry and free parking! Jobs are plentiful on campus and students can get great paying jobs with or without work study. The best thing about the campus is definitely the student involvement, in any department. Frostburg really encourages its students to get involved and build our leadership and communication skills. But the amount of opportunities and experiences that present themselves when you get involved on this campus are enough to make anyone speak of Frostburg in such a way. Just a great place to be.

In recent years, there have been a few changes. A building has been shut down, and a new set of stairs and a wheelchair ramp have been installed. The Lane Center contains a game room (equipped with a pool table and a bunch of different gaming systems), computer lab, Susquehanna Bank, a workout area, and many meeting rooms. This building also has a coffee shop and a variety of food options (Chick-fil-A, Taco Bell, oven-made pizza, Chinese, salads, and wraps). There's also a physical education building (which has a weight room, treadmills, and an indoor pool). The Lane Center's weight room is now more commonly used than the P.E. building's, but it is still fully functional.

The library on campus is four floors, and on the bottom level, there are newspapers and reference books and computers. On the second floor (the main floor), there are computers and nonfiction books. The third floor is the quiet study floor. The fourth floor is the group project floor. There are rooms for students to work on group projects and have plenty of room to spread out. All in all, Frostburg State University is constantly changing. The administration is always trying to find new ways to keep the students active on campus, and they try to find ways to make the school more efficient.

Favorite Things To Do
There's a game room in the Lane University Center. Students like to go there because they can play any video game on almost any system, or they can play pool. Wanna know the best part? All you need to do is give them your student ID when you first get there and then pick it up when you are ready to leave.

Clubs and Organizations on Campus
There is a plethora of different organizations on campus. There is the Stage Combat Club, where you can learn how to fight with different weapons each semester. There is also SGA (Student Government Association), RHA (Residence Hall Association), Psychology Club, Pre-Med Society, and so many others. It is pretty easy to get a new club or organization started. Most students on campus are involved in at least one club, and there are so many options from which to choose. You can never say there is nothing to do on campus.

Did You Know?
  • Dan's Rock is where the college kids go to hang out. Rocks have formed to the side of a cliff, which people climb on and "graffiti." This is FSU's tradition. Everyone must "graffiti" at least one rock during his or her college career. There is one rock that is painted to look exactly like an alligator.
  • If you want to join the Stage Combat Club, but it does not work with your schedule, stage combat is sometimes offered as a class. The moderator for the club is the teacher of the class.
  • There's something on campus called an "echo circle." It is a stone circle surrounded by stone seats. If you stand in the middle of the circle and speak, you can hear your voice echoing from what seems like every direction. You can hear the echo, but no one else can.
