Student Body

4 College Sophomore

Student Body: The student body at Frederick Community College is extremely diverse. It is not unusual to have classmates ranging anywhere from still in high school and upward. I have also had the privilege of studying with deaf students who are assigned interpreters so that they can attend and participate in regular lectures. I admire how much the deaf students are involved in the coursework, often times you hear from them more than the hearing students!

4 College Sophomore

Student Body: The student body at Frederick Community College is diverse in all aspects. Students range from open-campus high school age and upward. It is not unusual to have classes with adults who have decided to continue their education or even students with disabilities such as the deaf community. I have had the privilege to work with dead students in numerous courses and I found it enlightening to watch as the interpreter signed each lecture to the students, I also admired how they adhered to the courses so quickly and participated often more than the hearing students.

3 College Senior

Student Body: Most of the students are nice, but not a lot of students try to become friends with people since we all still live at home.

4 College Junior

Student Body: The college has high levels of acceptance, treat everyone equally.

5 College Junior

Student Body: The student body is tremendous! There's an honors club available for students at FCC. You can take regular college courses but in the "honors" version. Also, the SGA is very active and participates regularly. At my college orientation, there were a ton of college students there to help make me and my fellow classmates feel more comfortable and welcome into the college environment. Everyone is welcomed and everyone gets along. It's a great place to be.

Students at FCC are diverse, and the student body differs from one at a typical four-year college. Students young and old come together to further their education, and they don't necessarily come here for a degree. FCC offers certificates and other training, which makes it perfect for student workers already starting their career. Younger students tend to go for core requirement classes and transfer to a four-year college, while older students tend to get their associate degree and go from there.

Students come from many different backgrounds. The surrounding Frederick County high schools are all 'feeder schools' to FCC, bringing in students from varying locations. Some students are used to a rural setting, whereas others are comfortable in a more urban area.

Be prepared to learn about many different  cultures and ethnicities at FCC. Many students are from other countries and always have an interesting story to tell.
