Overall Experience: It's a beautiful town with lots of activities. The school is very supportive of its students and has helped me so much in determining my major.

Overall Experience: My school brings a unique mixture of quality education and outdoor adventures. Fort Lewis College is located in the small mountain town of Durango, CO where is sits proudly upon a mesa overlooking the town. It is isolated enough so that there aren't a lot of outside distractions from the town and at the same time it is close enough to the town to provide easy access to the downtown atmosphere. My school is small and for the most part very outdoor oriented. Lots of people like to take trips on the weekend where they can enjoy all that the Durango area and San Juan mountains have to offer. I am in a degree program called Adventure Education which is a perfect program to be offered in Durango. It is a mix of teaching and leadership and also technical outdoor skills. All of my teachers are great! Everyone is passionate about teaching and you can tell that they really want to be there. I have been more than pleased with my school, town and degree program so far.

Overall Experience: I like to think that my college experience was well made. I had made a great decision to attend here at Fort Lewis College. If it werent for the one on one teaching technique and the faulty wanting to be there for me 24/7, I would have been falling through the cracks faster than most students. Along with taking great classes I had met some of the coolest students and now have some of the greatest friends. Walking around campus and experiencing the fun activities that were being held at Fort Lewis were arranged well and were greatly appreciated. Go Skyhawks!

Overall Experience: As I have yet to actually attend Fort Lewis College, I cannot say whether or not I actually enjoy it. However, from visiting the campus and talking amongst other students attending, I am pleased to say that I am very excited about going there.

Overall Experience: Fort Lewis College is great! Ig is very diverse and welcomes all kids of interests. Though it is a rather small school most of the people that come here love it.

Off-Campus Housing: Most landlords don't want students

Administration: They do a good job of keeping everyone out of trouble

Party Scene: Limited to people you know or they go too wild

Scholarships: Don't rely on Foundation Scholarships

Campus Food: The food is not worth what we pay.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: It's great for meeting new people.

Health & Safety: I've always felt safe here! I've never felt my life was threatened at FLC.

Athletics: Fort Lewis is a very athletic, very outdoorsy college. I'm not athletic myself, but when I occasionally attend the on-campus gym (which has great facilities, by the way,) I can tell that there are many students who are invested in their sports.

Administration: I haven't had too much experience with campus enforcement since I've been here. My RA's are relatively lenient about stuff but I've gotten a ticket on my car for parking in the wrong area.

3 College Freshman

Scholarships: I don't find the financial aid advisers very helpful, to be completely honest. They scare me and stress me out and I can never understand what they're trying to explain to me. I'm glad that there are scholarships available through the school but it's so difficult to understand I've almost given up trying.

Campus Food: While I'm not the biggest fan of Sodexo and their food, I know it could be a lot worse, and I definitely get more variety and quality than in high school. I'm vegetarian, so I'm grateful for the meat-free options provided.

Campus Housing: The dorm experience is new to me, so I wasn't sure what to expect when I moved here in August. While the facilities are nice, I don't really engage in the dorm community or hang out with anybody from my building.

Majors: I haven't been able to delve into my prospective majors much here because I am a freshman, but the relative classes I have taken have been great and invigorating.

Diversity: The town and campus are not very diverse, however, there is ample opportunity to learn more about Native American cultures.

Academics: Concentrated majors never really know who around them might also be involved in their major. The workload is not bad but sometimes could even afford to be elevated a little to secure understanding and maybe push some of those students who are never trying.

Academics: If you take advantage of the brilliant professors, it might be easy to turn a blind eye to the not-so-brilliant students you might find yourself around. It has been easy and even enjoyable to learn here and participate in classes. The professors here are underrated and deserve more credit for their work.

Campus Quality: This campus is nothing special and doesn't boast anything quite extraordinary other than the spectacular views. It's also annoying that it is so secluded from town—a trip to the grocery store or to pick up dinner shouldn't take as long and I sure wish I could walk instead of having to drive everywhere (which, by the way, is so helpful. Bring your car!)

Local Area: I can see the appeal of Durango for some people, but for me it is way too secluded from any resources and does not offer ways to be involed within the community or anything to do outside of driving 45 minutes for skiing in the winter and hiking the trails in warmer weather. If you're looking for diversity, Durango is NOT the place for you—there are very specific "brands" and stereotypes of people, and by brand I mean the infamous "Durangotang:" your typical wanna-be earth-loving good-vibey stoner-hippie hybrid.

Health & Safety: I never feel safe on this campus. Many people I know have been sexually harrassed while walking alone at night or simply travelling from one dorm to another. This environment causes anxiety.
