Campus Housing: The construction made living on campus bad, but without the construction it was good.

Health & Safety: Safety and security on campus is something that our school tries really hard at achieving. Our campus security/policemen drive their police cars around campus the majority of the time making sure that everything is safe. If I would be walking from the library or a study session at night and didn't feel completely safe, I could call the campus police and they would escort me to where I needed to be. I feel pretty safe on campus. Compared to all the other colleges I have been around and heard about, this one is really as safe as you could get.

Overall Experience: The student career prospects and the value of a degree from this school is very inviting. The fact of just knowing that when you graduate with whatever degree you obtain from this university, the faculty and staff will always want to help you find a job without complaining about it. My mom and grandpa went to college here back in the old days and to this day if they needed help with finding a job, they would help them in a heartbeat.

Overall Experience: The quality of the majority of my courses that I have been/am in enrolled in is overall very satisfying. The courses I had taken last semester were mostly General Education classes which were decently solid. The classes I am taking this semester are a little bit more of General Education classes along with some of my major classes. The professors here are amazing! They are all very nice, and really genuinely care about my education. Not to mention, they know me by name and say hi to me whenever they see me around campus. The variety of courses offered are immense and some I didn't ever think cold exist. The class sizes are what is really cool about this place. There is not so many people in one class that the professor just doesn't know our names. The high school I attended was a 4A D2 high school and the class sizes I had there are very close if not smaller than the ones I have here. It is very relaxing and secure knowing the class sizes aren't extreme.

Campus Housing: The best parts of living in the dorms are being so close to all the classes you need to attend and also being able to socialize with everyone else who lives in the dorms. The absolute worst parts of living in the dorms are they are so much more expensive than living off-campus, and the parking is absolutely horrible. There is a lot of construction going on around campus and they have blocked off many off the available parking spots so there is really nowhere to park decently. The social atmosphere is a lot of fun because the people here are really cool and easy-going. To get into the housing process what kind-of a hassle for me considering the online portion of the housing said I was in one room, while the actual school told me I was in a completely different building and room.

Greek Life: Greek life doesn't majorly affect the social atmosphere of campus in a large sense. Sometimes I will see some posters about it and signs saying stuff about it but I don't normally pay that much attention to them just because the stereotype we have at our school. I'm not saying Greek life students at our school are unnecessary, I'm saying the role they play in our school isn't as significant as it is in surrounding schools that I hear about. Greek students that are viewed by non-Greeks aren't really viewed as anything different than them. The main thing about Greek students is that they are more involved in stuff in the school more than the average college student. There are a few sororities and fraternities that students can join, but there aren't as many as some upper-level schools.

Athletics: The student involvement in any sport here at Fort Hays State University is pretty average. I would say our team performance in our sports is average as well. We don't typically win national titles, but we do perform to the best of our abilities. The fan support here is pretty average just like our performance. Students sometimes show up, but it isn't common for us to have a huge student section. The school spirit we have, depending on the game, is surprisingly adequate. If there is a theme to any game, the fan-base will stick to it. The athletic facilities that we have here are great for a division 2 school. Our basketball gym is a pretty big roundhouse, and our football field is just as inviting.

Overall Experience: One of my favorite experiences so far is just meeting all the new people who also attend here. It is very cool to see how different people live their lives so much differently than I do. What makes my school unique is we are the cheapest 4-year school in the state of Kansas, which definitely helps many people out financially. I would choose to go to this school again if I could do it all over because the people are great, the teachers actually know me personally, and they're very nice. The community in this town is just very home-like and it's been a great experience so far!
