3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: Every place is different. Can't rate all of them together accurately

College Freshman

Party Scene: Did not go to any parties. I worked overnights every weekend

3 College Freshman

Administration: Did not enforce a lot of rules in dorms

3 College Freshman

Scholarships: Did not get very good service from people on campus

3 College Freshman

Campus Housing: Would have been better if my situation had been different

Off-Campus Housing: There are plenty of options but alot dont really include pets so thats hard but what is out there seems pretty cheap and I havent heard of too many problems with land lords.

Off-Campus Dining: When you first get here there seems to be quite a few but the local resturants are kind of pricey and they are always packed but for the mos part there quite a few options!

Party Scene: Most of the parties are not that crazy to the point where you feel unsafe and if you do go out people watch for you if you are walking around the block. The people are pretty welcoming and enviting to you so you dont feel pressure to drink but if you want to have a good time then you can!

Administration: I enjoy such a controlled environment so that I know I am safe so far from home and that there are people who really care about my wellbeing. There are rules in place because they needed to be and that time may be over but since they are there the community for the most part follows them and keeps order in the dor and other campus facillities.

Scholarships: My problem is that I am from a middle class family that is deemed elibigible to pay by ourselves. I want to be able to recieve scholarships even though my family is average. It seem to me that the students who need more options to get money are the regular students who are necissarily struggling.

Campus Housing: I am an RA on campus and I really enjoy living in the dorms. Most people would disagree but there is a good social atmosphere that you reallycant get anywhere else. With programs being put on all the time and the safe environment I always feel comfortable being here.

Campus Food: The dining options on campus are okay. The cafeteria is not the best, it reminds me of high school food. There is not much of a variety there either. The union is my favorite place to eat on campus. You have different choices all the can get anything from salad to wings to Mexican food. The best part yet, Starbucks!

Campus Housing: Living on campus is an experience everyone needs to do. The social atmosphere is good for college freshmen. You are able to meet other people in the same living area. The dorms do have problems when it comes to noise late at night, the rooms are not very big, and the cost. The cost is part of the reason people do not live in the dorms. The cost could probably be a little lower. The relationships you make with other people in your hall are amazing. I have met two of my best friends in the dorms and would not trade that experience for anything in the world.

Party Scene: Fort Hays State is known for partying. Sometimes it is hard to avoid the peer pressure of going to parties, but I have learned how to attend and not drink. Just going out and being social helps make friends and leads to an enjoyable evening!

Scholarships: Having a high GPA and academic excellence in high school really helped my first year experience with the scholarship process. However, transferring to a new school I have found to be extremely inconvenient when trying to find financial aid. I am not eligible for any institutional scholarships, and am solely relying on loans or outside scholarships.

3 College Freshman

Campus Food: I greatly enjoy the meals offered at the Union with the cafeteria and Mondos. However, the dining halls cafeteria is very tasteless at times and lacking of options.

3 College Freshman

Campus Housing: It is nice to live in dorms for the sole reason of the social atmosphere. Walking down the hallway or up a flight of stairs to see a friend is very convenient. However, the living space itself is small and only having a couple feet between you and your roommate at all times of the night is sometimes bothersome.

4 College Junior

Academics: It's great for the price you're paying. It's phenomenal actually.

5 College Junior

Local Area: I grew up here. I stayed because I love it here, nothing can beat Hays' small town feel while still being very cultured!

5 College Junior

Majors: I didn't encounter any difficulties in getting into my program.

4 College Junior

Majors: My program is newer so it's still being developed but the chair is passionate and the people in the major are great!

College Junior

Majors: We don't really have internships within Fort Hays, or maybe we do and I know nothing about them.

4 College Junior

Campus Quality: The facilities may not be absolute top notch, although they are fairly good, but it's the people that make the quality. The people at Fort Hays are just great people to surround yourself with and to get educated with and by!

3 College Junior

Diversity: It's diverse but the people who extreme advocates of diversity are few, mainly because we actually know how to celebrate diversity here by just seeing each other as family.

3 College Junior

Athletics: Our athletics are okay. I think the main problem is that our students aren't that excited about them.
