Off-Campus Dining

5 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: There are hundreds of places to eat off campus including every major food chain and also local resteraunts with great food at a decent price. There are plenty of late night places to order from and I believe McDonalds and Whattaburger are the only places open 24/7

It doesn't take long for the call of off-campus food to be heard by the student body at Florida State. There are upwards of 20 restaurants within a five-minute walk off-campus, and these establishments offer a variety of food to choose from. Pizza, buffalo wings, and subs are the most popular choices, but for the more adventurous student a cornucopia of food awaits. Off-campus food selections run the gamut, from pitas and tacos, to gyros and seafood. There are also several vegetarian restaurants if you prefer a greener existence. Remember, Tallahassee is a two-college town, and this means twice as many restaurants to try. However, it is also a political town, and the farther you travel from campus, the more money you are likely to spend on food. To keep it within budget, most students stick close to campus where the dining is cheap and plentiful. Like any good college town, Tallahassee has an army of both locally-owned and chain restaurants encircling the University. The chain restaurants and fast food joints give you just what you expect, and most are within walking distance of the residence halls. The locally-owned establishments can be hit and miss, but if you do find a place that knocks your socks off, enjoy it while you can.

Word travels fast here, and it doesn't take long for a quiet little restaurant to become a standing-room-only, 30-minute-wait madhouse. The Loop, which is right on the edge of campus, is always a good choice for pizza and other Italian specialties. The Main Ingredient can blow you away with its constantly-changing menu and inventive daily specials. Most places are affordable on a student budget, but the farther from campus you go, the higher the prices.
