Scholarships: You get your money and its an easy process, it's just hard to get a hold of the financial aid office.

3 College Freshman

Transportation: There are buses for on and off campus transportation as well as a shuttle and zip cars available for rental

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: I don't live off campus but there are a lot of options and from what I've heard most of them are pretty nice

3 College Freshman

Campus Housing: There are good halls and very bad ones. I got lucky with the hall I live in and it's still not exactly a castle compared to the better halls at other schools

3 College Freshman

Local Area: It's not the worst place I've ever lived and I prefer my hometown but it has its charms and if you look in the right places it can be a nice place to live

3 College Freshman

Administration: A lot goes on unchecked around here but when they do notice stuff that's against the rules they're not going to ignore it

3 College Freshman

Weather: It gets cold and rainy kind of a lot but when the weather is good it's amazing

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: Very easy to reach campus police when you need them, multiple fitness centers with easy access, blue light emergency posts everywhere. Outside campus isn't the safest but on campus is better

3 College Freshman

Drug Safety: Drug scene is well known by students but doesn't seem to be hampered at all by administration. Mandatory alcohol awareness and knowledge online course was given to students.

3 College Senior

Off-Campus Housing: Off campus housing is pretty raggedy. The places are subpar in appearance, and if they are nice they are way too expensive. the closer to campus, the more expensive. A lot of places need rennovations, but the added freedom is totally worth it.

4 College Senior

Academics: The academics are pretty good. Some professors are a little ridiculous and dont particularly care about you at all. Some classes forget you have a full load and think you're life revolves around that one class and all the work you have to do for it. Make sure you understand time management because procrastination will bite you in the butt. If you're trying to study, I recommend going past the 3rd floor of Stroz to the quiet zones where noone can distract you. ACE tutoring zone is the bomb!

3 College Senior

Local Area: The local atmosphere is nothing special. The new college part of town is pretty great though. Recess, a new club on top of Madison Social is the place to be on your Friday night. There isn't much to do unless you have a car to take you to the Rez. The Tallahassee mall sucks, if you're actually trying to shop I recommend the Governor's Square mall on Appalachee.

3 College Senior

Administration: Dont get complaints in dorms. If it gets out of hand they will call the cops. Don't walk in your dorm drunk, the RA's will call the cops and you'll be written up with a MIP. Dont smoke weed- you will get arrested. Dont park anywhere you aren't suppose to- you will get a ticket. The cops are like hound dogs. They just want to ruin your time at FSU, and break up parties.

3 College Senior

Drug Safety: The drug scene at FSU is pretty low key. Except for now I notice more people using those ecigs in class, and who knows if that's hash oil or tobacco oil. Cigarettes were a big thing on campus, but now that campus is smoke free... they're still a big thing on campus. They dont really enforce anything, unless its alcohol and you're being obvious about your innebriation.

Scholarships: After my problems with the engineering program, I lost my bright futures scholarship. Now they are trying to kick me out and not give me the financial aid awarded to me because of those engineering hours. The money they have allowed me to use as loans are not enough to sustain my life and pay for my rent and tuition. It sucks

Greek Life: Greek life dominates the campus. Any and everywhere you go sorority and fraternity clones pass you by in masses. The first thing asked upon meeting someone is "So, what sorority are you in?".. None, I'm a GDI- a goddamn independent! As a non Greek, i dont appreciate their pastel long sleeves, khaki shorts, and sperry boat shoes. Greek housing is available in their houses and in Heritage grove.

Transportation: There really is no need to have a car if you're living on or near campus. Everything is in walkable distances. There are campus buses that have on-campus routes as well as off, for those who live a little further away. This bus is free. The public Star metro city bus is also available for free to FSU students with an id. The transloc app will help in the estimated time arrival of all the buses.

Majors: I am happy with my program now. However, when i first started I began as an engineering major and my advisor did everything in his power to help me flunk out of that major and possibly FSU. If I could start all over I would, avoiding engineering in the first place and focusing more on political science probably. My career goals now in the major of Environmental Studies are pretty unclear. I have no idea what I am doing after college. Hopefully I can either teach an environmental class somewhere or join a company aiming to save and research the ocean or rainforest. I'm mainly concerned about my lack of experience when it comes to the job search, I definitely have to stop by the career center on campus to find a good internship.

Majors: I merely applied. There were no qualities necessary in joining my current major other than being enrolled at FSU. The most important criteria though would be gpa, grades, attempted hours vs. actual hours, and classes geared toward your major. There is no abnormal application process. My tip would be to NOT enroll yourself in the engineering college.

Weather: The weather is great in the spring time when its cool enough to wear a light cardigan, but warm enough to tan on Landis green. The weather isn't so great because it's so bipolar. One day it will be 38 degrees (and possibly snowing) and the next day there will be a torrential downpour of rain and the next it will be 75 degrees and sunny. Make up your mind Tallahassee!! On top of those, the summer is pretty miserable considering it gets to about 100 degrees on the off chance that its not raining for 20 days straight.

Parking: The parking situation at FSU has caused many problems over the years, but in my time at FSU, there has been improvements with new parking garages and lots, more overnight parking, and a paid valet service added. My major issue with parking is that many days out of the week, there will be events hosted at FSU, and oftentimes these events will have nothing to do with us as a school but are simply using our facilities to hold meetings and events, and will block off entire floors of the parking garage with no advance warning. They only ever do this with student lots, not teacher parking spaces, and it an really cause students to be late, or in some cases miss class entirely.

4 College Junior

Administration: In my experience with the FSUPD, they really are more concerned with getting inebriated students home safely rather than getting them into trouble. Parking is kind of an issue, and sometimes the parking enforcement will hide and watch particular spots to get students tickets, rather then simply asking that they not park there. RAs are also not overly strict, though they will make sure that their residents adhere to the dorm policies.

4 College Junior

Weather: Though we are in Florida, autumn and winter can be chilly. It even snowed (a tiny bit!) this year, causing classes to be cancelled for a day! Rainy season is also pretty crazy and unpredictable, but you learn pretty quickly to carry an umbrella and invest in rainboots. The majority of the year, however, Tallahassee has beautiful, sunny, warm weather, and plenty of places to go and enjoy it.

4 College Senior

Party Scene: If that's something you're interested in, don't worry, because there are a lot of options. Tons of bars and clubs and even some that are 18+.

3 College Senior

Scholarships: Brand new system just went up that the Financial Aid Office does not know how to use, so you'll have to be patient when receiving your aid. It could take awhile, but it's pretty hit and miss. For some people it goes smoothly, and for others they have to wait weeks.
