Majors: When I entered my program, it was easy to get into. But then many students wanted to be in the Exercise Science major and they would eventually change it to something else. So now it has limited access and you have to meet qualifications (like getting certain grades in certain classes).

Health & Safety: I love our health center so much. We have so much to offer like a clinic, Physical Therapy, Chiropractor, Dentist, etc. There is a lot of crime though. We get emails when crime has happened on campus and it is usually in the middle of the night when people are walking on campus. No one ever gets physically hurt, but their belongings get stolen and some are held at gunpoint.

Greek Life: A lot of Greek Life students are very involved on campus with non-greek students. A lot of people want to become greek and the pressure of joining a "top tier" fraternity or sorority can be overwhelming and consuming. Some non-greeks dislike greeks and some don't. It depends. Sorority houses can hold anywhere up to 30-80 women. It can be difficult to live in the house depending on the year or on the individual sorority's rules. The rest of the sorority women live off of campus or in on-campus apartments. Fraternity houses are very unclean.

Academics: I love my major and all of the classes it has to offer. My workload can be vigorous but that is a given since I am in a healthcare major. The advisors aren't always the best at offering advice, though.

3 College Junior

Weather: When it rains there's a lot of puddles and mud. The parking lots are mainly dirt so that gets really bad when it rains.

5 College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: I love all of the food off of campus. We have a great variety of foods that are close to campus. You probably can't walk to some of them, but buses pass them and it would take a few minutes to drive to them. Prices can vary from $5-$12 a person depending on what you order, but there is a huge selection.

4 College Junior

Technology: Most areas of campus have great wifi and awesome internet speed. Other parts of campus do not get wifi. Also, some dorms need an Ethernet cord, which is kind of inconvenient. But when I am in the library or in a classroom with wifi, it works perfectly.

3 College Junior

Campus Housing: My dorm was very small and very old. It made my roommate and me sick constantly and the A/C made our sheets feel damp. Other dorms were pretty good though.

2 College Junior

Parking: You have to have a parking pass, which is free, but parking spots usually fill up by 10:00 AM and students are very disrespectful to other students cars so it is never a surprise if there is a scratch or a dent on your car.

3 College Junior

Off-Campus Housing: There are a lot of new apartments close to campus but they are extremely expensive. Even though they are expensive, they all stay consistent so students either pay a lot of money to live walking distance to campus (in a nice apartment) or live in an "alright" apartment that requires driving or bus transportation.

4 College Junior

Transportation: The bus system to take students to campus is awesome. It goes off campus and it stops at almost every apartment complex that houses students.

4 College Junior

Diversity: Everyone accepts each other and there are a lot of clubs and organizations for different religions, ethnics, etc.

3 College Junior

Administration: FSU just enforced a non-smoking campus and that isn't going well right now because it is brand new. But the strictness needs to improve for the smokers to quit smoking on campus.

4 College Senior

Off-Campus Dining: Dining options are very varied and convenient. Cost is average, and student discounts can be found easily.

4 College Senior

Technology: Almost everything in the computer department is average. We have fast internet and access to easy printing.

5 College Senior

Athletics: School spirit is great, and our athletic teams are all good, if not the best (football). Students are highly involved in all athletics, as fans or participants.

Greek Life: I don't know anything about Greek Life.

3 College Senior

Academics: FSU has many study options including study abroad and internships connected with the school for different majors. However, the teaching staff can be hit or miss. Some of my teachers have been very good while others have just been okay. There are many options to choose from as far as which classes interest you, and the overall learning experience is beneficial and fun. The workload and registration, from my experience, has been completely fine with no problems.

4 College Senior

Off-Campus Housing: Off campus housing is definitely a great option. There are many different kinds of apartments at different rates and with different amenities, so tenants can choose what's important to them or not so important. Most apartments and complexes are safe and include plenty of parking.

4 College Senior

Party Scene: There are many nightclubs and bars. There is a variety of different ways to have fun. A bus system runs late to ensure student safety.

3 College Student

Local Area: The local atmosphere of Tallahassee is vibrant with a lot of things to do more in campus than out of it. There is beautiful greenery all over campus.

4 College Student

Campus Housing: I live on Landis Hall, and I know that the other options for Campus Housing are great. The social atmosphere is always positive but make sure to always be on top with payments!

3 College Student

Athletics: I'm not so big on the athletics at my school. But I do know that it requires a lot of student involvement and fan support to get where they want. The school has a lot of Nole Spirit

3 College Student

Scholarships: Receiving financial aid at FSU made me love the school even more. I knew the FAFSA wasn't enough, but when I found out that the school was giving me a grant I was extremely happy.

4 College Student

Parking: Well, I don't drive to campus. Not until 1 more year. But, from what I've heard from many friends, the permit costs, and ticketing and fines policies are strict. There always seems to be extra parking spaces too.

You would be hard-pressed to find a graduate of Florida State University who doesn’t have fond memories of the years they spent on campus. Current students will also agree that they are happy with their decision to attend school here. There is something for everyone, from athletics to academia, and you would have a hard time finding a more comfortable setting than Tallahassee. It has so much to offer, from exciting nightlife to beautiful weather.

Although it bears the reputation of a party school, FSU also has a growing reputation for turning out some of the best and brightest graduates in the entire nation. The school is now turning its focus on research, which should appeal to those interested in science and mathematics. But never fear, FSU also emphasizes the arts through their award-winning film and theater departments. From math and science, to the arts, FSU offers a vast array of eclectic degrees, which will be nothing but helpful later in your life. Choosing which college to attend is not an easy decision, but if you’re looking for the perfect combination of a good education and a good time, you can’t do much better than Florida State University.
