Overall Experience: The classes are small enough where I feel like I get the best out of my teachers and the campus is absolutely incredible.

5 College Junior

Health & Safety: Panama City campus is safe and since it closes at night there is no reason to be alone late at night. Town itself is relatively safe anyway.

3 College Junior

Overall Experience: Panama City doesn't have too many jobs locally but the campus has a good reputation and students are well liked.

4 College Junior

Overall Experience: Good professors and small class size is nice. Panama City campus is very pretty as it is right on the water.

4 College Junior

Overall Experience: Small Panama City campus is nice. Teachers are helpful and easy to talk too. Labs are nice.

Drug Safety: I don't think I've ever had problems around campus with people being intoxicated. I know the drug scene is present, but I don't often hear much about it and I have never been pressured into drinking or doing drugs by anyone I've spent time with. Straight-edge people are also not treated any differently than anyone who drinks or does drugs, and there is very little stigma against people who do, as long as they are not hurting themselves or their peers.

Health & Safety: It seems like every week I'm hearing about how someone had been nearly or successfully sexually assaulted on or near campus. There is the kNOw More program to help educate people about sexual assault and abusive relationships, but I don't think anyone actually heeds it. It feels like the resources on campus are meant more to aid those who have been sexually assaulted rather than actually trying to prevent sexual assault. Beyond that, most assaults go completely unreported because a lot of people's first instinct is to blame the victim for their rape, or immediately assume they are just lying to get someone in trouble. I hear about people being raped more often than I hear about someone actually being penalized or punished for raping someone.

Overall Experience: I've had to drop a few classes while I was here, because the professors are all incredibly hit-or-miss with me. Sometimes I jive really well with them and sometimes they have no patience for accommodating my struggles with mental illness. Some professors are unnecessarily strict with their assignment policies, but there are accommodations available through the Student Disability Resource Center. The class sizes are pretty nice, but I do wish the Creative Writing courses had smaller class sizes and just plain more professors because it's frustrating to try to workshop 25 people effectively within one semester. In my experience, the CRW3110 classes tend to be much stricter than the CRW3311 and ENC3310 routes. I may have just gotten a couple of bad professors, but I'm not sure.

Health & Safety: Our campus has many safeguards in place to prevent violence , and most of them work very well. The Bluelights connect people directly to the campus police, and are spaced so that there are always at least two in sight.

3 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: I am not really involved with the career services and so cannot speak on this subject

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: My experience has been excellent! Most of my professors have been knowledgeable and engaging with manageable curse loads.

4 College Sophomore

Greek Life: The sororities are very involved and host many different charitable events open to the public. The fraternities for the most part throw parties and try to avoid getting shut down for illegal drinking or rape allegations.

4 College Sophomore

Athletics: I don't pay attention to sports at all but we have a Quidditch team and I'm pretty down with that.

Overall Experience: Most people have a fantastic time at Florida State University, but as someone who has to work nearly full-time to be able to support my living expenses, living with mental illness, and trying to go to school full-time, it's a nightmare. Trying to schedule work, school, and life around each other is nearly impossible. I don't feel like I've learned anything I came here to learn because most professors for the classes I wanted to take and subjects I wanted to learn have no patience with me as a student who has no other choice but to have 160 irons in the fire at any given time in order to survive. FSU has a max credit hour limit and a fairly strict plan for each major in order to push students through to graduation as quickly as possible. Because of this, many exploratory students don't have the chance to branch out and take classes from different majors in order to find what they might want to pursue. Financial aid is limited to full-time students only, which is a pain because there are a plethora of students like me who have to work through college, and sometimes taking a full load of classes is just not feasible.

Beyond that, campus life is amazing, the campus itself is beautiful, and there are a decent number of resources around the school for disability accommodations, clubs, student health, and counseling. If it weren't for FSU's Student Health Center, I would still have no control over my mental illnesses and I likely would have had to drop out completely by now. Instead, my disabilities are under more control now than I've ever had and I'm finally able to do well in the classes I still have.

Overall Experience: A beautiful campus with a plethora of resources.

5 College Freshman

Health & Safety: I have never been sexually assaulted but we have had assemblies that have made it known that if such a terrible thing happens to you, you are allowed to talk about it and receive help.

4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: Joab Corey is an amazing economics teacher very interesting and cares if you understand the topic clearly.

4 College Freshman

Campus Housing: The dorm life isn't ideal but it is fun getting to know other freshman when you are new to the university.

4 College Freshman

Greek Life: Im not involved in Greek life but everyone i know in one loves their experience and sisterhood/brotherhood.

5 College Freshman

Athletics: I play softball at FSU and our weight room, field, and facility is amazing.

5 College Freshman

Overall Experience: The students are teachers are very friendly. The atmosphere is very welcoming and you'll never have a bad day walking on the beautiful campus. The sports are incredible and the athletes are very respectable.

5 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: As an English major, my core classes were always typically small (15-20 people) and extremely informal. The professors were always very colloquial in speech and made the students feel more like colleagues. A lot of my professors I can still reach out to for questions and letters of recommendations. I couldn't have asked for a better experience.

Overall Experience: There are plenty of internship opportunities for certain departments. Other departments, like the English department, are quite niche and it might be hard to find an immediate job coming out of college. The alumni network, however, is massive and easy to connect with. The university offers various career fairs throughout the year and the career center is always willing to help students with application materials.
