5 College Freshman

Campus Housing: Every one living on campus is incredibly friendly. Immediately upon moving in I've made friends with my roommates and other residents in my hall. Each residence has its own culture almost. Some halls are known for being fun and alive all night and others are known for being a fun place to interact and socialize. There is no bad hall on campus really, it's all what you make of it.

Transportation: The bus system isn't 24/7 but I understand there isn't huge demand for a bus ride at 3 am on a Tuesday night and that the bus drivers themselves also deserve time off.

Party Scene: I don't go out often, but I hear a lot from my friends about what options are available to students looking for a good time. There are a variety of bars and clubs within walking distance of campus. I don't know much about the party scene aside from the fact that there's always at least one big party each weekend.

Health & Safety: While there have been thefts and robberies on campus, one must remember that Florida State University is situated near a poorer part of Tallahassee. Despite this fact, the amount of crime occurring on campus has been very minimal, relative to other campuses such as University of South Florida, thanks to the efforts of our very own on campus police department.

Administration: I've never had a problem with the strictness on campus. We recently became a smoke free campus which seems to be mostly respected.

Off-Campus Dining: The best option for late night off campus dining is Chickfila because it's the only Chickfila I've ever known to be open past 10 (open till 3AM Monday-Friday) and I love Chickfila

Campus Housing: Living on campus is the worst, you pay the same amount to live in a shoebox and share a room with 2-3 other people, often strangers, as you would for a private 1000 sq. ft.+ apartment a mile from campus.

Weather: About once or twice a semester, it'll rain hard enough that there's several inches of standing water on campus. In the summer, it's beautiful outside but incredibly hot and sweaty walking across campus.

Party Scene: Parties at FSU are great. There is always something going on somewhere and people are always friendly.

Off-Campus Housing: There are a ton of options for places to live in Tallahassee. I really do feel as if it would be difficult to not find a place here.

Scholarships: For VA assistance, FSU has one of the best offices for helping you out.

Academics: Even for my very limited major, I feel as if I have some of the most highly regarded professors for the fields they are in.

Local Area: There is not really too much to do in Tallahassee, but there is a charm to it that seems to grow on you after a while.

Greek Life: Many Greeks seems to be associated with only Greeks.

Off-Campus Dining: Coming from a big city, there are enough options in Tallahassee that I don't always have to eat in the dining halls.

Diversity: Students appear more "normal" on this campus than the other campuses I visited. I fit well in this environment.

Academics: As a freshman, I'm not into specific classes for my major yet, but I am involved in classes that pertain to my major and so far, it's great!

Greek Life: I went through fall rush as a freshman and have no regrets about what I learned about each organization. It was great preparation for selecting the fraternity I'm now proudly a part of!

Scholarships: This was our first experience with financial aid, so there a big learning curve in figuring out how it all works. I'm very grateful for the aid I have received.

Athletics: Intramurals (both co-ed and greek involvement) are great! A lot of fun!

2 College Freshman

Technology: It's very frustrating in the residence halls when wi-fi is acting up and you can get connected to complete assignments or email your research paper to your professor.

4 College Freshman

Transportation: There are multiple buses and routes offered in all directions on campus. Even though I have a car on campus, this is a great option if I don't want to drive.

Party Scene: I'm a minor so I don't go to bars, but there are plenty of other options to spend social time with friends.

3 College Freshman

Local Area: I grew up in a big city where there's always multiple events going on. Tallahassee is the state's capital so that area is busy, and right around the FSU campus is okay, but off campus, it's rural and some areas seem sketchy and unsafe.

Greek Life: Greek life pretty much runs the nightlife but if you're non-greek, there's always a house party to go to on the weekends.

There is something for everyone, from athletics to academia, and you would have a hard time finding a more comfortable setting than Tallahassee.
