4 College Freshman

Weather: The weather varies from cold to rather warm, but it is never too hot on campus.

4 College Junior

Athletics: FSU football takes the top spot but check out one of the best baseball teams in the country as well. FSU is always excelling in the "non-revenue" sports.

Local Area: Tallahassee has some great features especially if you like the outdoors and restaurant scenes. Great art community. As with any other southern capital city, there can be some more ghetto areas but if you reach out beyond a mile around campus you'll learn that it's a great beautiful city. Find the locals. They usually know where to go.

4 College Junior

Academics: A lot of folks in Florida will tell you UF is the best but what they really don't know is the quality of academics and the number of fantastic opportunities FSU has to offer.

4 College Junior

Campus Housing: Most of the dorms are new or recently renovated. The few buildings left that are "old commune" style are being demolished and replaced with more modern facilities with better options.

4 College Junior

Majors: My major is great. I love all my faculty and professors.

4 College Junior

Majors: The faculty have a lot of knowledge to offer on how to find jobs in my major.

3 College Junior

Off-Campus Housing: You get what you pay for. If you don't want to spend a lot, prepare for crappy apartments, but there are tons of fantastic places nearby if you (or your parents) are willing to pay.

Academics: My major is nationally acclaimed

Technology: It sometimes goes in and out, but that's to be expected when so many students are using it.

Diversity: There is quite a lot of diversity at Florida State

Administration: The campus is not too much involved in students' daily lives.

Local Area: There is a lot of crime in the Tallahassee area. Although the campus is clean and beautiful, the city itself is not.

Majors: I do plan to have an internship one day. The FSU career center is helping me with my resume so I can find an internship this summer. The career center has been very helpful because when I wasn't entirely sure what I wanted to do, they set me up with an advisor who guided me through a few different tests - not aptitude tests, but tests that would help me find what I really wanted to do, not just show what skills I had.

Majors: I am double majoring, and both of my majors require a lot of time. To succeed at FSU, you really must master time management skills. You will likely have very much homework, study groups or group projects, tests - often weekly, and if you add a job and extra curricular activities, it can be difficult to manage. I find it helpful to do my homework on the weekends, and study for each of my classes at least a little bit every weekday, and then relax during the weekends, and then review a bit on Sunday nights.

I feel that the classes that you are required to complete do have some real-life merit to them, and I know that I am learning skills that will help me when I am ready to enter the work force.

FSU is great at helping to find internships, part-time or summer jobs, or even work associations in your field of study.

Health & Safety: Tallahassee is not a very safe town, but FSU has done a lot to ensure the safety of the students. We have blue light poles throughout campus that will page FSUPD at literally the push of a button, and alert them of your location. The dorms also require an activated FSU card for entry, as do the libraries, gym, dining halls, and rehearsal spaces.

FSU offers a few services for students who need to get around at night, including the Night Nole, Nole Cab, and Safe Bus. The Safe Bus will pick up a student on cmapus and drive them wherever on campus, or in close proximity to off campus for free when you call for a ride, the Night Nole is a nightly bus route that drives around campus and the surrounding areas, and the Nole Cab will pick students up from bars and take them home, wherever they live, for $4.

The library has security at night, and they will walk you to your car if you ask them to.

Local Area: Tallahassee is a city that has many different sides to it, for better or worse. The area surrounding FSU is a total college town atmosphere - many restaurants and night clubs with deals for students, as well as pretty much anything you would need - grocery stores, doctor offices, auto shops, etc.

Then there is downtown. Downtown Tallahassee is actually very nice - it doesn't feel comlpetely urban, but has an older feeling. If you head further downtown, you will get to the major shopping area, where there is the Governer's Square Mall, and stores like Best Buy, Bed Bath and Beyond, and more.

The attitude from the locals is generally good, but very minimal. As an FSU student, you will rarely, if ever, interact with people who are not students who live in the community.

Local Area: Tallahassee is great! FSU is awesome and there's always something to do. We are in the capitol of the State and so it's not just a college town. Since I don't have a car I don't venture out too much but downtown isn't too far and I'm sure there are lots of things going on outside of campus besides the night life activities. During football season before every home game there's the downtown get down where member of the community outside of FSU and FSU students come together and there's music and activities to do the night before the big games.

Party Scene: I don't really go out much but when I do I tend to have a great time. The strip is fun and so is Coliseum. its all about having a great group of people to go out with that makes the night. There's always something going on and somewhere for everybody to go that works for them.

Off-Campus Housing: This year I have lived on campus but am planning to live off campus next year. There were a huge amount of places to look at when looking for off campus housing and many options. There is a lot that is near campus and most places are on the campus or city buss routes that allow transportation to be easy. Off campus housing is cheaper than on campus housing and there's some more freedom inbeing off campus and some different opportunities based on where you live and what's around you, most people after freshman year prefer to be off campus. The cost of places off campus ranges from where its located and how new it is etc.. but you can find somewhere that fits your budget and you feel comfortable because there are so many options available to you. As for anything else I can't say since I've lived in a dorm this year.
