Campus Housing: If you don't have an east side, renovated dorm, you're wasting your money. There's so much off-campus housing in Tallahassee that's close to campus, affordable, and more spacious than the dorms to be worth paying thousands to live on-campus.

Campus Housing: There should not be two people living in the size room that my roommate and I share but I will survive.

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: I feel very safe at this school.

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: I live on campus so I don't know much about this.

3 College Freshman

Local Area: I don't have a car to venture out off campus a lot but when i do there is usually something fun to do or see.

3 College Freshman

Party Scene: i am not a huge party goer but from what i have experienced the people know how to throw a good one.

4 College Freshman

Administration: I believe that the administration is doing a fine job.

Off-Campus Dining: Cost of off campus dining varies, the closest places to campus a re moderately priced and a not too far walk from campus. The discounts are limited though and they don't have too great a variety.

3 College Junior

Scholarships: I only applied for financial aid my freshman year and I didn't qualify. I haven't applied since.

Greek Life: Definitely plenty to do even if you aren't apart of Greek life. Greeks here typically have a negative view of those not in Greek life (GDIs), which does cause a slight rift between students but it's not too big of a deal.

Majors: I haven't had an internship yet but I plan on getting one. In today's job market it's crucial to have done at least one internship to really be considered for a job.

Majors: The only requirements for the Computer Science department is that you maintain a GPA above 2.5 which is very doable.

Local Area: Definitely a college town. There's a lot of activities the school provides for students, including the Rez where students can kayak, canoe, rockclimb, etc for free.

Off-Campus Housing: Plenty of off campus housing from any price point and most of it is relatively close to campus.

Campus Housing: Everyone is very friendly, the community dorms aren't so great. The suite and apartment style dorms are much better.

Greek Life: Most of my friends involved in Greek life are very happy with it. It seems like Greek life is a great way to meet new friends and join a kind of clique. At FSU there are both Greek and non-Greek students, nobody really judges you if you are or are not involved. Greek housing is dorm style and pretty affordable and most houses are relatively close by to campus.

Campus Housing: Many of the community style dorms are impersonal to live in with very small rooms. The suite style dorms are much nicer, but are located a little further from most classes. All the dorms have game rooms, study areas, and common areas so its easy to meet people in your dorm. It is hard to get good housing at Florida State because suite style housing runs out quickly, and nobody wants to be stuck living in a community style dorm.

Local Area: Tallahassee may be Florida's capital, but it is essentially a college town. There is not a ton to do off-campus, but there is still a downtown area and the Rez to hang out at. The shopping is not bad at all, the mall and some major roads have some pretty decent stores. There are not several locals living near campus because the suburb area is further away, but locals do seem to accept students, or at least not mind them.

Athletics: I personally have never been to a FSU football game, but they are a huge deal in the Fall. FSU tries to get the students excited about all varsity sports by sending informational emails before games. The gym on campus is absolutely wonderful, and usually crowded with many students.

3 College Sophomore

Scholarships: My financial aid was dispersed relatively easily my freshman year. However, I find it hard to get into contact with the financial aid office unless you go in and talk to one of the employees at the office.

Off-Campus Dining: I have a hard time finding healthy options when eating out in Tallahassee. It's disappointing that there isn't more nourishing and delicious food off-campus. I am just trying my best to take care of my body and give it what it needs.

3 College Senior

Campus Food: Food in the dining hall is ok for freshman but if you're older than that and living on campus I wouldn't get it. The foods not that good. The meat is usually kind of weird. The restaurants at the union are pretty good. There's good variety of restaurants on campus and they're usually good.

Off-Campus Dining: Not a lot of student discounts, but a lot of options! There are many places to eat bordering campus, so if you're tired of on campus-dining, something else is just a short walk or bus ride away. A Publix is right down the road as well, with a bus stop servicing to campus every 15 minutes or so. One of my favorite places is Pitaria, a Greek place right off campus.

You would be hard-pressed to find a graduate of Florida State University who doesn’t have fond memories of the years they spent on campus. Current students will also agree that they are happy with their decision to attend school here. There is something for everyone, from athletics to academia, and you would have a hard time finding a more comfortable setting than Tallahassee. It has so much to offer, from exciting nightlife to beautiful weather.

Although it bears the reputation of a party school, FSU also has a growing reputation for turning out some of the best and brightest graduates in the entire nation. The school is now turning its focus on research, which should appeal to those interested in science and mathematics. But never fear, FSU also emphasizes the arts through their award-winning film and theater departments. From math and science, to the arts, FSU offers a vast array of eclectic degrees, which will be nothing but helpful later in your life. Choosing which college to attend is not an easy decision, but if you’re looking for the perfect combination of a good education and a good time, you can’t do much better than Florida State University.
