Health & Safety: Because FSU has been known to have many sexual assaults they have implemented security measures such as Safe Bus, which begins from 7pm to 3am and will take a student anywhere on campus to another location on campus. They also have safety poles that produce a blue light at night and are evenly spaced out so that no matter where you are you can always have access to one of these, which when pressed calls campus security to immediately come to that spot.

Overall Experience: This is my freshman year so I`ve only taken ten courses here but all in all my professors have been absolutely amazing. Their topics keep me very engaged and actually encourage me to seek out more knowledge about the world than I ever would`ve thought possible. They are very accomodating to the needs of the students and try to the best of their ability to make coursework relatable and interesting. There are so many classes offered here at FSU and I wish I had the time to indulge myself in each and every one, but unfortunately I cannot however the classes I have been able to take have drastically influenced how I see myself as a person and the world around me now. Class sizes are moderately large for introductory classes, but begin to get smaller in core classes which I believe is resourceful and shows that the university is trying to the best of its ability to ensure a quality education for each student.

Overall Experience: FSU has many programs around campus that their intent is to aid in the career process after these four years. They have the career center which goes over resumes, teaches students how to have the best interview, and how to dress and act accordingly. Scholarship and fellowship house offers many opportunities for students to become active in their research and grants students money. We also have an amazing international program where students can both take classes and get internships across the world and be able to put on their resume that they have international experience. Overall FSU does an amazing job at ensuring success for its students in the work field.

Campus Housing: Every dorm on campus is relatively close to something, so even if you happen to live in for instance Salley, or Smith hall which is basically the farthest from every classroom besides the Psychology, and Medical buildings they help to ease the distant by placing one of the better dining options a short 5 minute walk away. Even though it`s the farthest walking is not that much of a hassle and if it is there is bus transportation that literally can take you anywhere on and off campus for free. Living in a dorm is a lot of fun because on most occassions you get to know the people on your floor to a much more personal level and it makes living with your friends so much more fun. You also have people to actively keep you aware of what`s going on around campus and RA`s do a great job of updating their boards as to what activities are going on. Housing is also relatively easy if you apply right away however it is quite a hassle to change dorms or break your contract.

Greek Life: I am not personally involved in Greek life this year but I intend to join a sorority next year because of all the great feedback I`ve received on Greek life. Joining a sorority/fraternity allows one to not only extend their family outside of their actual family, but allows one to engage in community service, receive recognition, be a part of the bigger picture, and gain connections that will help benefit the individual beyond these four years of college. Greek life attracts a lot of fun and positivity around campus as they are often throwing parties/fundraisers for causes, selling baked goods or advertising on the strip of Landis. I`ve heard quite the mixture of views on Greeks but for the most part many people at FSU see Greek life as a fun way to enjoy these four years of college and make some of the greatest friends.

Athletics: FSU is notorious for its national champion football team so it is no surprise that attending games is by far one of the most exciting things to do on campus during the fall season. School spirit is always at an all time high, and fan support ranges from the prideful students attending the campus to the citizens of Tallahassee, and even those who graduated long ago but still find it in their heart that it bleeds garnet and gold. I have not personally attended any other major athletic games, but often times they make it on to our campus story on snapchat and the support is mutually there for each and every team. Our athletic facilities are some of the best in the country not just for those athletes but for the average student as well. Our Leach Gym is three stories high and covers every athletic desire from an inside gym, to an inside pool, to a floor wide room of weights, to a sauna and spa, it has it all! Intramural and club sports also have a lot of popularity amongst those who enjoy playing recreationally and even have teams for those people in sororities and frats. You could say FSU strongly encourages its students to seek out any sport that makes the individual happy at whatever level they want and pursue it because all of the coaches and staff put great effort in to ensuring that the sport is taught well and in a fun manner. Team members become family one never would`ve thought they could have.

Overall Experience: Florida State University offers the best universal education around. Extracurriculars and clubs are constantly advocating their purpose around campus and getting the students involved in a friendly collegiate manner, and has influenced me to see and hear viewpoints that I never knew about and allow for my perspective to change in a multitude amount of ways. We also have the most supportive academic advisors, and professors around who find it in their best interest to help aid students in any way possible. The coursework is challenging and invigorating, but not to the point where it is impossible to succeed. Hard work and dedication are the main attributes they highlight within your education, but they strongly enforce connecting with your community and expanding your horizons beyond the here and now. There are just so many unbelievably amazing opportunities that FSU offers and promotes and I am beyond grateful to be attending this school, and do not regret my decision in any shape or form.

Health & Safety: I've never worried about my safety, but you should never walk alone anywhere late at night.

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: There's a large variety of great courses and teachers. As long as you stay organized and work hard, being successful is actually possible.

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: I know many people who have been offered jobs, but it's up to the students to ask for help in seeking jobs and making resumes.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: My experience with campus housing was terrible. I lived in a dorm that resembled a prison cell without bars and the dust, dirt, and mold were enough to give someone who's germaphobic a heart attack. The proximity to class and community is nice though.

Greek Life: Although it's a huge part of college, I don't regret my decision to not join Greek life. I'm still social and don't see any reason why it's deemed necessary to be active in activities on and off campus.

Athletics: Unconquered is the motto, so athletics is a major part of the school and the community.

Overall Experience: When I first started classes, I found myself not adjusting as well as I'd hoped to. Focusing on grades was all I could do and it was really hard, but I eventually found a balance that allowed me to actually work and have fun in school. Now that I'm in the situation I always wanted to be in I'm glad I chose the school I did.

Health & Safety: I personally feel very safe on campus, but I know a lot of other students do not. While crime and sexual assault can happen anywhere (so is always a fear, especially for women), FSU has great resources in both support and safe transportation to help prevent this.

Overall Experience: The professors care so much about students. They are willing to help you in and out of class, and are experts on what they teach. Many have had a lot of work experience in what they teach, so they have first-hand and practice-based (as well as evidence-based, since they are well educated and many of them do research) knowledge.

4 College Junior

Overall Experience: I feel fully confident about getting a job after college. FSU has a good reputation and is very proactive in bringing employers to campus.

3 College Junior

Campus Housing: Location of the dorms was great - you always know what is going on around campus! Living on campus makes it easier to be involved. However, the dorm quality themselves are not of value.

Greek Life: Greek life is big on campus, but not everything. It's easy to think Greek life is more important early on, but not so much as you develop your own friend group in other places.

5 College Junior

Athletics: We have a ton of school spirit here. Sometimes it can be considered too much, overlooking the great academics, but I love it anyway.

Overall Experience: My school has everything you could imagine. It offers hundreds of unique, diverse, and amazing organizations to get involved with. The professors and other faculty are incredibly knowledgeable. I wouldn't want to get my education anywhere else.

You would be hard-pressed to find a graduate of Florida State University who doesn’t have fond memories of the years they spent on campus. Current students will also agree that they are happy with their decision to attend school here. There is something for everyone, from athletics to academia, and you would have a hard time finding a more comfortable setting than Tallahassee. It has so much to offer, from exciting nightlife to beautiful weather.

Although it bears the reputation of a party school, FSU also has a growing reputation for turning out some of the best and brightest graduates in the entire nation. The school is now turning its focus on research, which should appeal to those interested in science and mathematics. But never fear, FSU also emphasizes the arts through their award-winning film and theater departments. From math and science, to the arts, FSU offers a vast array of eclectic degrees, which will be nothing but helpful later in your life. Choosing which college to attend is not an easy decision, but if you’re looking for the perfect combination of a good education and a good time, you can’t do much better than Florida State University.
