Off-Campus Housing: There are beautiful/convenient off-campus housing options put they can be very expensive. the closer you want to be to campus the more expensive it is.

3 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: There is a drug scene at my school, like any other school has but if you have no desire to be a part of it then you don't have to be and you wouldn't feel like an outcast.

Off-Campus Dining: I don't eat out very much. I usually just go to the grocery store once a week.

4 College Sophomore

Greek Life: I am a part of Greek life and I love it. It has been on of the best experiences of my life.

3 College Sophomore

Technology: I personally feel like their isn't always enough of them but I believe most people have their own computer so it is not a very big issue.

Academics: Academics are FSU is very good. But is all depends on the majors you pick. I think the work load can be very heavy but with the right time management skills you can do will and still have some fun. Most of the professors are great and very helpful. They all genuinely want to see you succeed.

3 College Sophomore

Majors: I am a double major. I am majoring in Economics and Advertising. They are not easy and the workload can be very heavy at time but over all most of the professors are extremely helpful and will go out of their way to help you understand the material if they can tell you are a dedicated student. Both my majors are very small majors, meaning the faculty departments are very small but that makes it easier to get in contact with them. Over all I am very happy with my majors and am doing very well.

College Sophomore

Majors: I have not had one yet

Weather: The weather changes all the time. During summer and begining of fall it very hot but then it cools down and it is beautiful. Sometimes during winter it gets a little too cold but it's really no too bad. Over all the weather is ok but it can rain a lot sometimes.

4 College Sophomore

Party Scene: Nightlife at FSU is great! There is always something to do. House parties aren't very big at FSU. Most people just go out to the bars/clubs.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Food: I eat very healthy and even though they had a salad bar and a few healthy options I still was very unsatisfied with the menu a lot of the time

Campus Housing: I was lucky enough to live in one of the best dorms on campus. The worst part about the dorms was having to have a random roommate. Living in a dorm had it's ups and downs but it was a learning experience I would never take back. I lived in Gilchrist dorm. It was very clean and had been renovated within the last 4 years. Everyone was very friendly and it was in a great location.

Weather: It's pretty average. There are good days and bad days, although occasionally there are really bad days and there is flooding. We had a "snow day" during Spring 2014! That was a fun day for everyone!

College Junior

Party Scene: A rating wouldn't be applicable because I don't party.

College Junior

Campus Housing: The only reason I won't give a rating is because I think I have a bias since I work in Housing. But we do have a very nice on-campus community!

4 College Junior

Health & Safety: The folks at FSUPD are really great! I work with them a lot as a Resident Assistant and they are very friendly and helpful.

College Junior

Administration: I think it is difficult to rate the "strictness" of a university as a whole. There are so many departments, colleges, and divisions that they function very separately.

3 College Junior

Technology: I often have a hard time finding a computer in the library, but if you have your own then the wireless within the libraries is usually very good.

4 College Junior

Diversity: I have seen a lot of different things at FSU. There are a lot of diverse people with different backgrounds, different looks, and different beliefs.

5 College Junior

Academics: I am in the Music Therapy program at FSU. Our program is ranked at number 3 or 4 in the nation, and I know all of my professors very well. They are willing to help out students and there are many opportunities for Direct Individual Study, extra projects, and research.

3 College Junior

Scholarships: The financial aid office can be a headache to deal with, but I have always gotten the money that I need.

4 College Junior

Off-Campus Housing: There are a lot of new housing communities being built. They are going up very fast!

4 College Junior

Local Area: There is a lot to do around Tallahassee. There are a lot of parks, small businesses and restaurants and many museums and nature reserves. Railroad Square is a great place to go to find shops, good food, and good times.

4 College Freshman

Greek Life: Greek life is huge is FSU. Almost 20% of students are a part of it, and for good reason. They're always seen on campus doing something, lots of volunteer work, great parties. Unfortunately, non-Greeks are very judgmental when it comes to Greeks and see them as stereotypes.

Transportation: The on campus bus is extremely convenient and there is a night bus to avoid drunk driving.

You would be hard-pressed to find a graduate of Florida State University who doesn’t have fond memories of the years they spent on campus. Current students will also agree that they are happy with their decision to attend school here. There is something for everyone, from athletics to academia, and you would have a hard time finding a more comfortable setting than Tallahassee. It has so much to offer, from exciting nightlife to beautiful weather.

Although it bears the reputation of a party school, FSU also has a growing reputation for turning out some of the best and brightest graduates in the entire nation. The school is now turning its focus on research, which should appeal to those interested in science and mathematics. But never fear, FSU also emphasizes the arts through their award-winning film and theater departments. From math and science, to the arts, FSU offers a vast array of eclectic degrees, which will be nothing but helpful later in your life. Choosing which college to attend is not an easy decision, but if you’re looking for the perfect combination of a good education and a good time, you can’t do much better than Florida State University.
