Health & Safety: The folks at FSUPD are really great! I work with them a lot as a Resident Assistant and they are very friendly and helpful.

College Junior

Administration: I think it is difficult to rate the "strictness" of a university as a whole. There are so many departments, colleges, and divisions that they function very separately.

3 College Junior

Technology: I often have a hard time finding a computer in the library, but if you have your own then the wireless within the libraries is usually very good.

4 College Junior

Diversity: I have seen a lot of different things at FSU. There are a lot of diverse people with different backgrounds, different looks, and different beliefs.

5 College Junior

Academics: I am in the Music Therapy program at FSU. Our program is ranked at number 3 or 4 in the nation, and I know all of my professors very well. They are willing to help out students and there are many opportunities for Direct Individual Study, extra projects, and research.

3 College Junior

Scholarships: The financial aid office can be a headache to deal with, but I have always gotten the money that I need.

4 College Junior

Off-Campus Housing: There are a lot of new housing communities being built. They are going up very fast!

Local Area: There is a lot to do around Tallahassee. There are a lot of parks, small businesses and restaurants and many museums and nature reserves. Railroad Square is a great place to go to find shops, good food, and good times.

Greek Life: Greek life is huge is FSU. Almost 20% of students are a part of it, and for good reason. They're always seen on campus doing something, lots of volunteer work, great parties. Unfortunately, non-Greeks are very judgmental when it comes to Greeks and see them as stereotypes.

Transportation: The on campus bus is extremely convenient and there is a night bus to avoid drunk driving.

Party Scene: The nightlife is great. There are plenty of bars and clubs nearby and many allow 18 in. Because it's such a large population, taxis take forever to get; I've had to wait almost an hour.

3 College Freshman

Diversity: There is some diversity, but not an ideal amount.

Parking: Parking is free on campus, but it's basically a fight to the death to get a spot. The on campus police constantly give out tickets which sucks because sometimes students have no choice but to park somewhere they're not supposed to. You don't really need a car because there is on campus and public transportation.

Drug Safety: FSU is one of the top party schools in the country, so it's expected that there is pressure to drink and do drugs. However, it does depend on who you hang out with and not everyone drinks and participates. It's pretty easy to get alcohol.

Campus Food: The dining halls suck. The food is mediocre and is definitely not worth the ridiculous price. However, Denny's and Chili's is great being on campus along with lots of other fast and quick choices like Subway.

4 College Freshman

Local Area: Living in Tallahassee is great. The only downside is that there are not any close cities nearby to visit, but there is enough to do here. There is always something going on campus, especially with our sports. Residents don't really seem like there is a problem with students, but some parts of Tallahassee is really sketchy and wouldn't recommend going to especially alone or at night.

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: Because FSU is right in the middle of the capital, there was never much room for off campus housing nearby. Unfortunately, most people have to drive to school and parking is absolutely horrible on campus. But it is cheaper than living on campus as an upperclassman.

3 College Freshman

Weather: It rains A LOT, especially compared to the rest of Florida. Being from South Florida, I'm used to sunshine all day every day. You are basically in Georgia weather wise, since you experience 25 degree winters and 95 degree summers.

2 College Freshman

Campus Housing: The dorms pretty much suck wherever you go. But if you are lucky and get a dorm near Landis, then it's not that bad. The rooms are super small and way overpriced but I believe it's worth it to live on campus freshman year.

3 College Freshman

Administration: FSU is very strict about parking policies since they give out tickets to anyone and everyone. Alcohol use on campus is a big deal especially if you have a very strict RA. As long as you don't go crazy and follow the rules, you should be fine.

4 College Junior

Guys & Girls: The campus is very lively and resilient with social life and opportunities, you just have to seek it.

Weather: Florida is all over the place with weather but we also get some Georgia weather too which is refreshing.

Off-Campus Dining: I don't go out to eat much, to save on money, but I do know there are days of the week that are specific for students to save money on meals.

4 College Junior

Party Scene: It's fun and lively. Go with friends.

5 College Junior

Overall Experience: I am proud to be a Florida State Seminole. I cannot pick one favorite or unique experience. You have to live in Tallahassee in order to know what it's like. I would never take back my decision.
