Party Scene: I'm not a huge party person, but they're not lacking at FSU. Friendly people, crazy stuff, variety depending on what you're into.

3 College Senior

Scholarships: They're really skimpy about it, but overall it's smooth. The sheer amount of students at the school make it difficult to receive generous amounts of money and/or work study so it's understood.

Off-Campus Housing: 76% of the residence areas around campus and the city focus on student housing - and there's a huge variety depending on prices, accessibility, pets, amenities, roommate amount, etc. It's a much better option than on campus.

5 College Senior

Off-Campus Dining: No one can complain about off-campus dining - there's absolutely everything for everyone.

3 College Senior

Health & Safety: I do like the police, the blue light system, the safety measures to get into buildings, etc. Whenever something bad happens on campus there are always alerts and emails to reassure everyone- and they don't happen too often, I've gotten 2-3 in the past year. Police wise I feel like everything is top notch- my phone accidentally called 911 (emergency button on screen pressed) and they immediately called me back, it was an actual police officer as police officers take on campus calls. He made sure I was okay and that I wasn't in danger. However with the whole Jameis incident I don't know how sexual assault is really handled not being someone who's been or seen someone in that position, but they're really stepping on the ball with this one.

4 College Senior

Athletics: We're the Florida State Seminoles. They live up to that reputation and far more.

Local Area: It's great if you have a car. A lot of stuff around Tallahassee is hard to get to without a car, making it unreasonably difficult to get a job off campus or do shopping.

3 College Senior

Administration: The police are excellent, but there really isn't any evidence of strictness- unless you're out on campus walking right past an officer while doing something illegal it is very unlikely anything will happen.

3 College Senior

Campus Housing: For about half the buildings, there's serious updating needed. The other half is pretty stellar. There are two dorms that are WAYY too party oriented, which is fun but you need to sleep sometime. My one issue are how expensive they are for how little you get.

Off-Campus Housing: There are incredible options everywhere. The closer you get to campus the pricier it gets but there are still very reasonable places close to campus. Maintenance and landlords will vary with places but for the most part, people don't experience many problems. Only cost is trying to drive and park on campus.

Greek Life: As a non Greek I can fully say that from an outer perspective, FSU has some of the most solid Greek life in the nation. They do a lot of good for the community and they have a great time as well. Greek housing is found close to campus and the houses are beautiful. They really do bring life, not necessarily in a bad way, to campus

Off-Campus Dining: Tallahassee has some of the best food options I have seen. There is virtually something for everyone and at great locations and prices. If I move a way one day I will miss the food a lot.

Scholarships: I did in fact need a lot of financial aid. The people are incredible helpful and friendly if you get help really early! Once school starts it can be a nightmare.

Athletics: The entire school rallies around FSU's athletics, especially football. We are currently the reigning national champions and its looking to be another great year! FSU athletics has consistently won other awards and championships throughout its history.

Party Scene: FSU is definitely a party school. There's always something going on.

5 College Senior

Athletics: One of the best parts about FSU is the school spirit. It really brings the community together.

Majors: I love my program, Exercise science. It's a premed/pre-health program so it's difficult, but I am passionate about what I'm studying so I absolutely love it.

Greek Life: There are good and bad things about greek life. Some people are cool whereas some people are the worst. I feel like thats pretty common across college campus's

Local Area: Tallahassee is a one of a kind place. It's florida's capitol and yet a college town.

3 College Senior

Local Area: Very much a college town. Many business people. Always run into traffic on the roads. Very diverse population

3 College Senior

Health & Safety: There's always going to be a problem at some point or another

3 College Senior

Party Scene: There's always a party going on somewhere.

2 College Senior

Scholarships: It's so hard to get scholarships for "normal" people. The financial aid people are the most miserable people to talk to when you can finally get through to speak with someone. Willing to tell you what you're looking for, but completely unwilling to help with any further questions or finding financial aid money.

3 College Senior

Campus Housing: I had a terrible dorm experience and could never get a hold of my RA. the custodian closet was next door

to my room and everything could be heard early in the morning. The walls look like jail cell blocks and it was the least inviting environment to come home to. The laundry room was neglected and looked more like a dungeon.

You would be hard-pressed to find a graduate of Florida State University who doesn’t have fond memories of the years they spent on campus. Current students will also agree that they are happy with their decision to attend school here. There is something for everyone, from athletics to academia, and you would have a hard time finding a more comfortable setting than Tallahassee. It has so much to offer, from exciting nightlife to beautiful weather.

Although it bears the reputation of a party school, FSU also has a growing reputation for turning out some of the best and brightest graduates in the entire nation. The school is now turning its focus on research, which should appeal to those interested in science and mathematics. But never fear, FSU also emphasizes the arts through their award-winning film and theater departments. From math and science, to the arts, FSU offers a vast array of eclectic degrees, which will be nothing but helpful later in your life. Choosing which college to attend is not an easy decision, but if you’re looking for the perfect combination of a good education and a good time, you can’t do much better than Florida State University.
