Greek Life: I am in a sorority and it's not all it's cracked up to be. I like being social and having events, parties, philanthropies and connections, but true sisterhood isn't going to magically appear after rush. They're mainly full of superficial girls who are basically stuck in high school. You still need to meet people in your classes and dorm to find true friends and connections. 99% of fraternity guys are cocky and gross, be warned. But hey, the houses are pretty and food is great.

Athletics: School spirit is so important. You will live for the garnet and gold. Every sports team has been outstanding this past year. Football, baseball, women's soccer, and softball won ACC championships. The games themselves are so fun to watch. The Leach is a great place to work out.

Off-Campus Dining: Tally has some dank food. You will NEVER be disappointed, but the freshman 15 is real!! You're gonna get addicted to local faves like Momo's pizza and Roboto's like I did. You can even find some nice, upscale places for date nights like Kool Beanz and Masa. Delivery until 3 am from Bite, Z-baked and Gumby's make any night out complete.

Administration: My suitemates were caught with alcohol in their dorm and ended up with court dates. Just don't be loud and rowdy. The night staff are there to enforce rules. I could smell weed often in my hall and I've seen officers of TPD in my dorm elevator. However, I have seen police stand outside of frat parties watching underage drinkers stumble into cabs. They really only care that people get home safe and nobody is getting hurt. Of course, the shooting in November proves the speed and effectiveness of our campus officers in dire situations.

Campus Food: I don't have any complaints about on campus food. Starbs and Chick-fil-a are staples of the college diet. Rising Roll has some great options. You can't go wrong with a bagel from Einstein. Two words: SALAD CREATIONS. The dining hall waffles and omelettes are actually legit. Lines for food during the day can be somewhat long though. If you rush a sorority, you're guaranteed great variety every day at the house.

Campus Housing: Dorms that are on the East side of campus are nice and spacious. Best dorm is probably Cawthon or Landis based on proximity to things on campus, spaciousness and social atmosphere. The buildings at FSU are super beautiful. A few duds like Kellum and Smith, but they're liveable. Degraff is loud. Overall, it's basic dorm life.

Campus Food: I had it my first summer there but did not get it during the fall and spring.

Campus Housing: Housing is clean and new in certain dorms others it's the opposite.

Campus Housing: Some buildings are really old but there have been a ton of renovations every year. There are two new dorms in the heart of campus.

Campus Food: I very much enjoyed almost all of the dining places.

Campus Housing: Kellum was an older dorm and it wasn't the best.

Off-Campus Housing: I've chosen to live in one of the nicer complexes following my freshman year in the dorms on campus at U-Club on Woodward. It is ore on the pricy side, but has some great amenities and is less than half a mile from campus. With the way student housing seems to work here, you're going to get what you pay for. If you only want to spend $400, unfortunately in a college town that's going to most likely get you some run-down little place. There's a pretty direct correlation between price and amenities/distance from campus/quality. In my case, living off campus is actually going to be cheaper than what I was paying to live in a dorm. My place is gated, has a great pool, stainless steel kitchen, furnished rooms, a great complex gym, and is townhouse-style. You get what you pay for in the context of a college town.

Party Scene: As a member of Greek life, I have more convenient access to other Greek life events than someone who as unaffiliated, but that doesn't mean that most of the events are "members only." While some events like socials are generally only between one sorority and one fraternity, there are plenty of parties that can be considered a free for all. If you're not as Potbelly's on a Saturday night you're doing college wrong, and no one hates $2 margaritas at Cantina's. There's a pretty good variety of nightlife options, clearly demonstrated by the Strip's 6 bars that range from country-themed to Miami nightclub-style. As long as you find balance, incorporating a nightlife a day or two a week is not a hassle.

Off-Campus Dining: The crowd favorite, without a doubt is the nearby Chipotle. Some of the lesser common places that are wonderful include Mr. Roboto's, Newk's, Mellow Mushroom, Momo's Pizza, and Kiku Sushi. There is a decent variety of food types in Tallahassee ranging from Japanese to Indian. As a college student, you'll typically spend $7-$10 on a meal depending on where you go; the nicer places are much more and there's local deals where you can eat a large pizza for as little as $6.

Scholarships: Most of my financial aid struggle came from either time delays with gathering paperwork or financial problems that concerned the government and were out of the school's hands. As far as school financial aid goes, absolutely turn in your FAFSA documentation as early as possible. I've turned it in significantly later this year and noticed a drop in my aid, although my financial situation had not changed. Turn in other necessary forms earlier than the week before all of the financial aid is dropped by the Financial Aid office to avoid further headaches.
