Campus Housing: It's Awesome! Living on campus is the best part of FSU. There's always an activity to do and there are an abundance of things that go on throughout the week so it's very easy to socialize and make new friends. The worst part of living on campus is the parking in the afternoon. It's always a struggle.

Off-Campus Dining: It's Pretty Diverse – I think Tallahasse is full of different types of cuisine. I always have a large variety of choices and I appreciate the fact that I could eat at a different place every night if I chose to.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Quality: Different Views – We have alot of study abroad chances throuh out the world which is very unique.

2 College Sophomore

Campus Quality: Most [professors] or stuck up and dont care about the students. only a select few make sure their students are understand but on a few.

3 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: Somewhat Safe – Average Age in safety although we do have a police sattion on campus is real rare that you see them besides at event where they are required. It is a huge campus so walking by ypurself is a no no we do have petty robbery and assult with late night walkers. but they do have services to enhance safety.

1 College Freshman

Administration: What Punishments? I haven't heard of any punishments that were severe.

3 College Freshman

Greek Life: Greek life is known, however it is not really advertised, one must pay close attention to know if something was going on.

4 College Freshman

Party Scene: Nightcrawl: Explore Whenever, Wherever – When looking for somewhere to club or dance or mingle off- campus, the search is fairly easy. Eighteen year olds can get into the same clubs that are normally set aside for twenty-one year olds. These clubs are open every day of the week and they close at two a.m. (which is the only flaw). They are all very nice and sociable and the DJ plays music based off of the crowd (which is good). Now if someone doesn't want to go clubbing, there are always house parties or socials going on.

4 College Freshman

Athletics: I Do Not Attend Athletic Events – Though school spirit runs rampant on campus and everyone puts on their "game face" for all the games, I have no personal interest is sports thus do not attend. But from what I hear everyone has a lot of fun and things get wild. IM are quite big and if we don't have an IM sport you can form your own team. Our gym is amazing, and in constant use.

3 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: Girls dress radically. Either they wear sweat pants and t-shirts to class everyday or are sorority girls that get "dressed up" no matter the occasion. There are the occasional goth kids or "scene" kids. Vintage clothing is very popular among the women.

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: there is a lot of variety outside of the school in terms of food, whether the food is good is up to the person eating it.

Academics: Overall, my experience at Florida State has been a good one. All of the professors are very easy to talk to willing to help (even in large lecture classes). There is a wide assortment of classes for those who wish to dabble in other subjects and plenty of interesting courses to complete your requirements.

Parking: What a Nightmare. Parking is included in your transportation fee, so you pay it regardless of if you don't drive or don't ride the bus. Also, you have to get to a garage or lot at least an hour early if you want to secure a spot during busy hours like 10-1. Not nearly enough parking, but the garages are relatively clean.

4 College Sophomore

Transportation: Many Options – If you don't have a car, it's not that big of a deal. Tons of people ride bikes, skateboards, etc around campus and there's even a special "recycling" program at FSU where for $20 a you can rent a bike for a whole year. Also, we have a bus system that is free for everyone that goes around campus all day long and stops at the important places (the stadium, the gym, the Union, etc). The campus is not that big once you get used to it, so it may be easier to just walk. Our buses also go off campus near the popular apartment complexes, also for free. In addition, the Tallahassee Bus System is free for students if you show your student ID and it goes to Pubix, the Governor's Square Mall, CVS, and tons of restaurants. For long-distance trips, there are bus companies that take students to the major cities in Florida, such as Jacksonville, Tampa, Orlando, and Miami that cost around $75-$100 depending on the company.

Drug Safety: You'll Find Them If You're Looking – Drug usage is popular at FSU, although drinking is probably more talked about in general. If you're looking for friends who do drugs, then it won't be hard to find them, but most people don't come right out and say that they smoke pot, etc. Beware though, the FSU Police Department takes dug usage/ possession seriously on campus and they will kick you out of your dorm if you're found with them.

Health & Safety: Safety Is a Top Priority – At FSU, we have a police department that deals specifically with campus issues. The officers patrol campus all day and night, 24/7. There are also over 400 "Blue Lights" or emergency call stations strategically placed all over campus that directly connect to the FSU police department in case of emergency. In addition, we have an emergency contact system called FSU Alert, that will send out e-mails, text messages, and Facebook announcements to every student in the event of an emergency. The messages alert students to unsafe parts of campus and usually provides instructions on how to handle themselves. Lastly, every night a vehicle known as the Safe Bus can be contacted to drive students anywhere on campus in case they do not feel safe walking at night. All in all, I feel very safe on campus, and have not experienced any dangerous situations.

Campus Quality: Always Something Happening – The FSU Student Union is always bubbling with cool events and things to do. We have a bowling alley, a live music venue (Club Downunder) where hip new bands come every week, a Paint-a-Pot art center, open spaces where student organizations can meet, and of course restaurants - fast-food and sit-down. The Union also puts on various events such as an annual carnival, Winter Wonderland festival before Christmas break, and other monthly, themed events. There's always free food and plenty of entertainment.

Campus Quality: Unique New York – I love my major. It is extrememly exclusive, only 36 people got in last year. It makes my classes smaller and I like being able to receive more attention. I never did as well in my 250 person classes. The social scene is very spread out. However, each night of the week there's only one good place to be so there's no need to bar hop. Facilities are constantly being renovated, so sooner rather than later nothing will be dated. The clubs offer amazing opportunities like internships in England and crazy places, and the study-abroad program I hear is a MUST. I love FSU.

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: Off campus housing is a must. The safety is poor because once you get off campus, FSU isn't the richest place in the world. There's a lot of poverty which leads to crime. The pro is that you're not in a dorm. The con is that if you're walking distance to class, you are probably paying a ridiculous amount of rent. Leaving for class 30min-45min early is a must if you want to find parking. Landlords are somewhat reasonable, but they're obviously in it for the money. I love my townhouse it is reasonably priced but of course if I could afford it I would live in the big ones right next to campus.

3 College Sophomore

Technology: I would say the computers have excellent software programs and that the labs in the stadium are certainly the best. I don't venture to the library much, but when I do the computers are always taken. I have access to the stadium computers and they are much better. However, they're always out of paper. So when you put some in, it's so backed up you will never get your stuff printed on your own paper.

College Sophomore

Overall Experience: College Life – My overall college experience so far has been great. As long as you know how to manage your time with school, homework, studying, and having fun, everything will be fine.

3 College Freshman

Greek Life: There is a Greek life on campus, it is not extremely prominent but it is a good system.

3 College Freshman

Diversity: There is some diversity, as much as you would expect from a college and a college town.

4 College Freshman

Local Area: F-L-O-R-I-D-A S-T-A-T-E – The area is very much a college town. There is always something to do and places to see.

2 College Junior

Weather: I'm not a fan of Florida weather, hence the bad grade, but it's just normal Florida weather. Really hot. It will also change unexpectedly.

You would be hard-pressed to find a graduate of Florida State University who doesn’t have fond memories of the years they spent on campus. Current students will also agree that they are happy with their decision to attend school here. There is something for everyone, from athletics to academia, and you would have a hard time finding a more comfortable setting than Tallahassee. It has so much to offer, from exciting nightlife to beautiful weather.

Although it bears the reputation of a party school, FSU also has a growing reputation for turning out some of the best and brightest graduates in the entire nation. The school is now turning its focus on research, which should appeal to those interested in science and mathematics. But never fear, FSU also emphasizes the arts through their award-winning film and theater departments. From math and science, to the arts, FSU offers a vast array of eclectic degrees, which will be nothing but helpful later in your life. Choosing which college to attend is not an easy decision, but if you’re looking for the perfect combination of a good education and a good time, you can’t do much better than Florida State University.
