Off-Campus Dining: A Lot of Fast Food and Chain Restaurants! On Tennessee Street in Tallahassee, FL you will find some of the best upbeat chain and fast-food restaurants Tallahassee has to offer. The main street compose of array of restaurants that is convenient, affordable, and accessible to all students living in dorms and locals. The Panda Express restaurant just recently opened and it offers the best in authentic traditional Chinese meals and fast-food style service. Overall I rate the fast-food and chain restaurants a A-.

Campus Quality: Pride of a Seminole – The athletic fields and centers are state-of-the-art, especially the football stadium, which is all brick and also includes classrooms and ballrooms. It brings about a great school spirit among the students as well to have such great athletic fields and athletics. The campus and classrooms are great, some are older as well as the dorms but it brings a sense of history of Florida State to this new generation of students! Our campus blends both the new and the old and makes each student feel proud to be a Seminole!

Campus Food: The food at the FSU dining halls is ok, but not great. It's definitely hit or miss. There's a lot of basic meals to be had, and that's usually the best things to stick to. Occasionally they have "fancier" meals, but from my experience, they haven't been good. Stick with the simple-that's what they do best. If you can wake up for it, breakfast is very good. If you live on the east side of campus, you'll be eating mainly at Suwannee, the older (but newly renovated!) dining hall that looks like it popped right out of Hogwarts or Harvard. The food is pretty good there. If you live on the west side, you'll be eating at Fresh Foods. Its in a more contemporary style. For some reason, the pizza is better at FF, even though they use they same ingredients. Other dining options include the brand new 24 hour Denny's and the ever-popular Quizznos at the union for lunch. If you get tired of the dining hall food but don't want to wander off campus, you can always go to the Chili's at the union. The wait times can be annoying at times, but the food is good and you can use your flex bucks.

Transportation: Always Around – Although I don't use the buses myself, I know people who do and haven't heard anything really negative from them. The buses are generally on time, although they can get packed at times.

Drug Safety: Only If You Want to – Yes, there is a drug scene on campus, as with every college. But it's really not that bad. It's the kind of thing where if you want to get involved, you can, but people aren't coming up to you offering you drugs. Drinking is much, much more prevalent and popular.

Academics: Helpful for Freshmen – I'm a freshman with an intended major of criminology. The Criminology department has advised me on what to take to help achieve my goals, and they have been very helpful and welcoming in general.

Technology: i really do like the computers at FSU. The are quick and reliable. I have been known to take advantage of the computers to do homework and catch up on some readying. The best thing is that there are so many of them that you can always find a spare computer if you need one.

Overall Experience: aside from the parking and long walks, i love my university. Classes, sports, greek life, everything.

Parking: It Sucks – you have to drive around millions of times before you find any parking, even then it's very far from where you need to be

Guys & Girls: Community College – Many different people attend school here. You would see the same people in the grocery store or anywhere else.

Weather: EXPERIENCE IT ALL – I like Tallahassee weather because you get to experience a hot summer AND a cold winter. Every summer when I return to Tallahassee I forget how hot it is, but as October gets closer, it starts becoming cooler and cooler.
I really enjoy bundling up in the Winter time in Tallahassee. Although it doesn't snow, I feel that I am experiencing a chilly winter.
It tends to rain a lot in Tallahassee even in the middle of a sunny day. The rain gets a little annoying in the middle of the year because the campus tends to flood a lot in certain areas. Rain boots are a must if you are going to attend Florida State or any college in Tallahassee. Sometimes it is extremely hard to get to your classes on time because of severe thunderstorms. Sometimes classes aren't canceled during these times, which is a bit frustrating.

Athletics: I am not a student athlete so I personally don't really know how the school facilitates the athletes. In terms of school sports and support from students, I feel that it is very enthusiastic.
I am currently playing an intramural sport (flag football) I feel as thou IM sports are becoming more popular, maybe because I've become more involved. Many fraternities and sororities, apartment complexes, and groups of friends are involved in IM sports. They allow students to play a sport that they love, feel part of a team, and support one another.

Local Area: Tallahassee is a very unique city, mostly catered to college students. There are many fun activities for students to participate in and become involved in the community. There is a homeless shelter right across the street from campus, although many students and parents are uneasy about it, I feel that it allows students to have opportunities to help the local community bu volunteering there.
Sports, especially Football is very popular in Tallahassee. Parents, alumni, and current students come from all around to come watch the Florida State games.
Because Tallahassee has 3 colleges in close proximity, there is a large amount of college students. I feel that the local attitudes toward students is a positive one.

Overall Experience: Great Experience – Being in tallahassee is a great experience, not a great place to settle down

Weather: Not Bad – The weather is usually pretty stable, just really hot. Because of the hills, when it does rain the city flood quickly. The drainage system is very quick in drying up the roads, once the rain slows.

Transportation: Very Effective – Have the campus buses that run every 15 mins, the city buses are free for FSU students with a college id

Administration: Not to Strict – not very strict in my opinion, not strict at all actually

Academics: Challenging but Rewarding – The coursework is challenging but the internship opportunities are amazing.

Campus Food: I have gone to several different schools for visits, and Florida State had by far the best dining options. There are two dining halls located on campus, which offer a very wide variety of foods, all fresh and delicious. Being a vegetarian I thought it would be very hard to find food that I would be able to eat, but not at FSU! There are specific counters in each dining hall that offer vegetarian and vegan food, which I found absolutley amazing, they sold me at that! The food is always delicious and is never greasy or overly fried, I eat there twice a day, and I love it!

Greek Life: I Love It – Joining the greek life at my school was the best decision I made. I joined as a sophomore and can definetely say it has made me appreciate my school way more. Whenever the school is hosting an event of any sort the first organization they turn to is Greek life. Therefore, you know everything that is going on in school and have a foot in the door in basically anything you want to join. I love it!

Local Area: Perfect College Town – Although Tallahassee is the capital, so there is a lot going on. It is also the perfect college town. The spirit of the city is undeniable when it comes to supporting the school-- whether it be in community service, sporting events, or academics. It is also such a great college experience to be in a town where the majority of the people you are around are also students or somehow related to the school.

Party Scene: Too Many Cops – Apparently there are mor police per capita in Tallahassee, Fl than any other city in Florida. This includes cities like Miami and Orlando. That fact alone leads to high arrest rates for drunk drivers and just drunk people in general. If you go to a bar here make sure you don't drive even if you only had 1 beer.

4 College Junior

Campus Quality: Leech Center – One of the best gyms I have ever been too. Top of the line athletic equipment, full track, and hot tubs.

4 College Junior

Technology: Strozier Library – The computers at the main campus library are top of the line. As for the rest of campus, well some computers are pretty trash. Saw some 386s the other day.

You would be hard-pressed to find a graduate of Florida State University who doesn’t have fond memories of the years they spent on campus. Current students will also agree that they are happy with their decision to attend school here. There is something for everyone, from athletics to academia, and you would have a hard time finding a more comfortable setting than Tallahassee. It has so much to offer, from exciting nightlife to beautiful weather.

Although it bears the reputation of a party school, FSU also has a growing reputation for turning out some of the best and brightest graduates in the entire nation. The school is now turning its focus on research, which should appeal to those interested in science and mathematics. But never fear, FSU also emphasizes the arts through their award-winning film and theater departments. From math and science, to the arts, FSU offers a vast array of eclectic degrees, which will be nothing but helpful later in your life. Choosing which college to attend is not an easy decision, but if you’re looking for the perfect combination of a good education and a good time, you can’t do much better than Florida State University.
