Greek Life: Most of the frats are cool, some can be assholes, don't pledge PIKE

3 College Sophomore

Scholarships: I didn't get scholarships because of a error on the schools part. I am still trying to rectify this situation

Local Area: Lots of great restaurants, clubs and bars that anyone can enjoy

Party Scene: Great. Growing up in Ohio, I didn't know about the nightlife at FSU, just the Academics. I'm happy that the academics and nightlife are both great

Greek Life: Greek life is pretty big at FSU, alot of people rush. There are 17 sorority houses on campus and 20 fraternities dispersed, some on campus, some off campus. Non-greeks sometimes prefer to hang out with Greeks at clubs socially but not otherwise.

Off-Campus Dining: SO many options, almost every fast food is available and there is a variety of options (any time of ethnic food is here). Cost varies with what you're willing to spend, if you want cheap, average or expensive you could find any of those options in short distance from campus. Best places to check out = Gordos, Monks, Little Athens Gyro, Mr. Robotos, Momos Pizza, Kiku (sushi)

Athletics: students love going to football games, alot of fan support. ALOT of school spirit , many kids have FSU stickers on cars, bikes, etc. The athletic facilities are great , very big and a big part of the school.

Campus Housing: Depends where you live, pretty much any on campus housing is close to your classes. Some are really new and nice, and some are dump. Regardless of when it was built, all stay very clean. I was lucky enough to get a new dorm

Local Area: Alot of clubs/bars to go to. Many culture festivals in Downtown by capital. Crime is large here on the outskirts of campus, need to be careful where you go! Everyone is very excited about sports here

Administration: Kids get caught underage drinking in dorms all the time, and parking is such a hassle- you will get ticketed every time if you're in the wrong spot

3 College Junior

Health & Safety: I almost never see officers, and when I do, it's usually to write a ticket because someone parked their car the wrong way in the garage. I've never had to use the blue safe machines, so I don't know how effective they are. Personally, I wouldn't want to walk around campus alone at night, a lot of people can and do just wander in on campus to commit small robberies. Some students don't seem to take the comfort of others seriously, I've one too many times overheard male students making jokes about rape like it was the funniest thing in the world and mocking girls who've been affected because "they were drunk" so it was their fault. No real educational effort provided from the school to students in regards to handling these situations.

Off-Campus Housing: Looked at a few places last year, and decided to stay on campus. Anywhere close to campus (within walking distance) has serious crime issues and lacks basics (i.e. kitchens) which essentially make it the same as just living in the dorms.

Majors: I love the psychology major and the building. Classes are fun, but I still feel like they are very high school-ish. I feel like I'm not going to get anywhere really until I attend grad school.

College Junior

Greek Life: I don't participate in Greek life nor do I know anyone that does.

3 College Junior

Campus Housing: Half of the dorms are worth the cost. The other half are not. Same with distance to classes. Some dorms are right in the middle of campus and perfect, while there are some literally off campus, and it can take 20 or more minutes to get to a class. Halls like Kellum offer very little space to students, while halls like Rogers, which offers around 3x the size, private bathrooms and kitchens, end up being much cheaper to live in (by almost 700$ a semester, somehow). RA's don't ever enforce rules, students don't typically mingle in the halls, and in order to get basic cleaning supplies from the front desks you have to pay for a social fee card (but you also get charged if you let your room get too dirty).

3 College Junior

Party Scene: There are always parties going on, and strangers handing out flyers to get as many people as they can to attend.

4 College Junior

Athletics: I don't watch football, but it's apparent to anyone going here that it is a massive part of on-campus culture.

3 College Junior

Local Area: On campus events are great, but once you leave campus it's like you're in another world completely.. One that makes you not want to leave your house or dorm ever.

3 College Junior

Health & Safety: FSU police and Tallahassee police have notoriously failed to take effective action in sexual assault cases, but students on campus have recently taken more action to prevent them and offer support.

Off-Campus Dining: Tallahassee dining is fantastic with so many options around town

3 College Junior

Off-Campus Housing: Landlords and Apartment rental companies usually take advantage of students, but there are so many options for places close to campus or close to the bus system

You would be hard-pressed to find a graduate of Florida State University who doesn’t have fond memories of the years they spent on campus. Current students will also agree that they are happy with their decision to attend school here. There is something for everyone, from athletics to academia, and you would have a hard time finding a more comfortable setting than Tallahassee. It has so much to offer, from exciting nightlife to beautiful weather.

Although it bears the reputation of a party school, FSU also has a growing reputation for turning out some of the best and brightest graduates in the entire nation. The school is now turning its focus on research, which should appeal to those interested in science and mathematics. But never fear, FSU also emphasizes the arts through their award-winning film and theater departments. From math and science, to the arts, FSU offers a vast array of eclectic degrees, which will be nothing but helpful later in your life. Choosing which college to attend is not an easy decision, but if you’re looking for the perfect combination of a good education and a good time, you can’t do much better than Florida State University.
