Administration: only complaint is mandatory attendance for some classes

Local Area: Tallahasse, as in the capitol and the area around the university is very nice. However, right outside of the 5 mile radius are that, is French Town. French Town is extremely terrifying and there is a lot of crime. T-Pain is from French Town. I would not want to stay here post-graduation.

Campus Housing: I personally love my dorm. I live in Bryan Hall, which is the humanities living and learning community. My hall is very small, which allowed me to form bonds with many of the other residents. It is right off of landis, which is convenient, and it is also right next to Suwanee, the dining hall. The best dorms on campus are Landis, Broward, and Gilchrist. Bryan, Jennie, and Reynolds are all also very nice since they are all clean and close to Landis. The worst are Kellum and Smith which are communal and extremely old and gross. New dorms, Deviney and Dorman are being put up and those will probably be extremely nice.

Off-Campus Housing: Off campus housing is great... but you have to decide where you want to live a year in advance, otherwise leases fill up EXTREMELY quickly. After November, all of the prices rise and it is becomes extremely difficult to find apartments. Apartments are nice since they offer more freedom but parking is also a hassle. I would only live off campus if my apartment was within walking distance because parking on campus is terrible.

Off-Campus Dining: Tennesse street, which is adjacent to campus has many off campus food options. There is a lot of variety and it is relatively affordable. There are not many student discounts that I am aware of.

Health & Safety: I think Florida State does a good job in protecting their students on campus. They have the blue light trail, FSU Police, and Tallahassee Police. A good example of how great they are was just this past week with the shooting at Strozier library. The police showed up in only three minutes. Sexual Assault is a very prevalent issue on campus. FSU does a good job addressing it through online courses, but the severity of the issue is not visible enough. Students do not understand that they need to take preventative measures. FSU is such a big party school and a large portion of the student population take part in heavy drinking which often results unfortunately in sexaul assaults. I feel safe, but there needs to be more STUDENT emphasis on this issue.

Athletics: Florida State football is the best in the nation (we're still undefeated, so). Everyone on campus gets so excited about our football team, which is great. That aside, other sports are not as widely recognized or as popular. Students are all extremely spirited (some of the best spirit in the country). Our athletic facilities are really nice, I'm not too knowledgable about them but I see them sometimes.

Academics: It honestly depends on the class. A lot of the professors are great, it just depends on who you end up with. Many students don't take their academics tops seriously which is irritating, but besides that its fine. The registration process is a little frustrating, but it is easy for upper classmen since they do it through windows based on credits. The workload is fine and not too heavy. I often study in Strozier Library or study rooms in my dorm.

Party Scene: FSU is seriously so much fun. There's always something to do, which is great. Depending on the night, some nights are more fun than others, but it's usually always a good time. Potbelly's is my favorite bar to go to, since its so big. Fraternities usually have pre games before hand which are fun. Heritage Grove is fun, but it's a hassle to get there since its so far away from my apartment. That aside, Florida State is so much fun. The party scene is great and it allows me to make so many friends and memories. 10/10.

Administration: I have not had any issues with the administration on campus, but many of my friends have gotten into trouble for drinking in dorms and noise violations. If people get in trouble, it is usually for underage drinking. I have never gotten into any trouble myself, but if I did this could affect me getting into law school. If students get in trouble with administration on campus, most of the time it is not a big deal and they just need to see a panel of students and they will determine their punishment.

Scholarships: I did not receive much money from FSU. I applied for FAFSA and got a mediocre amount, but I still need loans. I applied for external scholarships and did not receive much.

4 College Freshman

Majors: I am in the political science program. It is not a competitive major, but the field is. The program is nationally recognized. There is not an application process for my major, but I know that the Communications and the Nursing programs are both extremely competitive and require 4.0 GPAs.

Scholarships: There have been some instances wherein I have had to be passed on from person to person to person just to get answers, but overall it has been a relatively consistently easy process and I am glad too not have to stress out too much.

Athletics: FSU Football National Champions! There is a long legacy for support of the FSU athletics, and even just the school overall in itself. FSU students are proud and a tight-nit family; even those you do not know personally, you know they are on your team and everyone supports one another. Our athletics department is very skilled in all areas, not JUST football. It greatly complements the academic life of Florida State University.

Campus Housing: It's decent, but hard to maintain privacy.

Greek Life: Greek communities are great - it is just too expensive for the average student.

Off-Campus Housing: There are very many locations that are in good locations and well-maintained in terms of safety conditions, but those places are too expensive for anyone to afford who doesn't rely on their daddy's money. There are well-priced close-by housing options, but often in less safe environments. I personally have had to live in this town's downtown "ghetto", referred to as "french town" region. I have witnessed many scary situations, and did not feel safe being at home alone. Other places that are dangerous are Seminole Ridge, where I was broken into and robbed, and places all along old Bainbridge Road.

Off-Campus Dining: I don't eat off campus much but when I do it has always been good.
