Local Area: Really Tallahassee is just a college town. For me, all of the main attractions are on campus and just across the street off campus. There has to be at least one cultural event each month. Market Wednesdays are a great way to advertise and check out new and old organizations. Just off campus is all of the good places to eat. Momo's has slices of pizza that are bigger than my head!

Scholarships: The financial aid process isn't that hard. However, I'm not getting as much money this year as I got the last two years. One of the grants I was counting on for this year has suddenly become discontinued. I'm just going to have to get an on campus job this year so I can keep living in my dorm.

Transportation: FSU has great public transportation. You can take the public buses during the day so you can go around campus faster. You can call the Safe Bus at night if you don't feel safe walking alone in the dark. You can take the Night Nole bus if you're out late and need to get back on campus. The only problem is that the day buses only run until around 7:00 on weekdays.

Academics: I'm a bit disappointed with our engineering program. The classes and teachers are all excellent. However, there is only one section for most of our required classes and only 35 students can fit in them. They say engineering students take 5 years to graduate, but I'm probably going to take 6 years. This is especially bad because most of my grants aren't given to students after their 5th year. I even know someone who took 7 years to graduate. It's even worse since the registration process makes it so that the people with the most credit hours choses classes first when people who didn't take as many AP classes in high school have to wait.

Overall Experience: I would pick Florida State all over again. I've never had so much fun and freedom in my life. The campus is breathtakingly beautiful, all the stone buildings and beautiful green fields. The gym (leech center) has so many accommodations for students including an indoor track field with designated lanes for walkers and runners. I love this school. The education aspect is great too. Professors are awesome and willing to help out all the time. I'd definitely choose FSU again.

Athletics: School Spirit – I attend FSU and there's nothing like showing up to a Nole game to really get your team spirit going. The games are crazy packed and fans from all over come to cheer on our seminoles. Overall great atmosphere for fun student activities.

Off-Campus Dining: Best Places to Check Out! Jenny's lunchbox is amazing for breakfast. Black dog coffee located on Lake Ella makes delicious drinks for non-corporate prices. What-a-burger is open 24 hours and has awesome burgers. For you vegans out there, sweet pea is a delicious all vegan restaurant in the area. Lots of local mom and pop shops all over Tallahassee all include that southern hospitality and hold an intimate charm.

Academics: I came to Florida State University because it has one of the top nursing schools in the nation. My professors, advisors, and peers are extremely nice and helpful.

Administration: Pretty Lenient – The only strict enforcement I've noticed is that visiting hours are based on residence hall, and some of the halls require a contract saying you'll obey their rules of abstaining from drinking alcohol, and such.

College Freshman

Diversity: Open to All Types of People – All cultures and lifestyles are very accepting, even creating support groups, organizations and greek life groups.

College Freshman

Academics: Biomedical Engineering – There is an Engineering school at my university that is very prestigious, expanding rapidly with a partnership of another college.

Campus Quality: Constant Renewal – At any given moment, something on campus is under construction, but that's because they are constantly upgrading the facilities. Recently an entire floor of our main library, Strozier, was closed for about a year, but when the floor reopened all of the electronics were brand new, the floor had been remodeled and decorated and there was even a 24 hour Starbucks put in to accommodate the all of the late night scholars.

Academics: Every Teacher I've Had Is Amazing, for the Most Part – I've only had bad experiences with a couple of professors on the FSU campus. What I kick myself over is that I read the reviews for them on ratemyprofessor.com as well as the more formal SUSSAI review system that the campus makes available for students, but of course I thought I would be the exception and get along with said professor or love their class. I was wrong. I would recommend reading the reviews of your potential professors and considering them for a while before you actually take your class.

Parking: If you want to park on campus on school days, be sure to get to campus at basically 7am if you want a space.

4 College Senior

Academics: Environmental Studies – There are many classes that are available with this major, and the university offers many different certificates and double majors that work well with the major.

Campus Quality: Social Scene – Not that easy to meet new people, but in my opinion the Greeks on campus are snobby and only assoicaite with "brothers" or "sisters"

Off-Campus Housing: Off campus housing sucks, it's a hassle parking because theres never any parking spots at FSU. It's horrible walking to school because it's so hott. Trying to live by campus off campus can be expensive too, or very ghetto. Not safe to walk at night

Academics: Professors are awesome, i can blindly pick professors without looking up ratings and feel confident that i'll have a good profressor. Registration makes Blackboard slow but thats normal. Workload is pretty good, you just have to balance your time.

Party Scene: Club Scene – Not much of a partier. I have done it a few times, but it doesn't interest me. Going clubbing as a single girl just means your looking to get laid.

Technology: Printing on Campus – I'm really sad that there's no place you can really get free printing in school. As a college student, it seems like EVERYTHING is expensive. Paper and Ink can really rack up my bill. I have freinds attending a community college who get free printing benefits, and just have to bring their paper!

Academics: Business Major – While the Business Major is has a very hard workload, it's very satisfying. I know that I'm really getting a good education, and not just free "A's". Its definately a challenge but I know that it will help me in the real world.

Health & Safety: In Full Effect – There is always going to be crime wherever you have people but remember safety is as safety does. Don't do things that will leave you vulnerable to being the victim of a crime like walking alone in the wee hours of the morning, secure your vehicles, bikes and other means of transportation and have them registered with FSU PD. Despite the crime that does occur, the campus police does keep the campus community in the know by sending out alert via email. Some security measures is the blue light trail which can help someone get in contact with campus police if they are in danger and there are numerous posts around campus. There is also the SAFE bus, which will give you a ride at night to anywhere on campus, use this because you paid for it in those student fees. Generally I have felt rather safe on campus, but I also have to say I don't do things that would put me at risk for becoming a victim of a crime.

Academics: Something for Anyone – Although in recent years since I've attended (2007-2011) a few programs were cut, but there are still many majors to choose from and some of those programs are world renown. Ample opportunity to study abroad if you so choose. In 2011, there was a new initiative started by Eric Barron, the President called the Garnet and Gold scholar for those students who have had experience in at least 3 of 5 areas in things like research, leadership and studying abroad. There is also an Honors program and registration is done online. The priority you get when registering depends on your earned credit hours.

College Freshman

Academics: Effective in Working Around the System – My major was going to be Linguistics/Foreign Language, but my school, Florida State University, doesn't carry it. So I've talked to the Language department manager and she seemed very willing to help me to get as close to my major as I can and also gave me plentiful amounts of traveling abroad information to help me in my quest.

2 College Junior

Drug Safety: Be Careful – Drugs and alcohol are huge at FSU. I do not know many people that don't partake in one or the other. While many people find it difficult not to succumb to peer pressure, my friends and I have a very well balanced social and academic life without any problems.
