Local Area: Simple for a College Student – Many things within walking distance: food, housing, nightlife. A bit congested during the day (small roads) but nothing too serious.

Greek Life: Greek or Geek – Unfortunately, as a non-greek, I've encountered instances where not being involved in the lifestyle put me in a negative light. There are many bars, clubs, and events that are dominated by Greek life. Whenever a non-Greek shows up, it is easy to feel isolated. On the other hand, there are many things to do without being part of a sorority or fraternity.

Overall Experience: Great Times, Great People – I've thoroughly enjoyed my time in Tallahassee at the Florida State University. I had many great experiences both on an off campus. I've seen many great musicians for free and cheered on the Seminole football team during games. I learned about economics from John Stossel and ate the famous midnight breakfast several times. I studied in our 24 hour library when I needed to. It is important to balance work and play, but it can be done.

Off-Campus Housing: Easy to Find Affordable, Clean Housing – Tallahassee has a lot of options for houses and apartments. Some apartments come completely furnished and are in walking distance from the school or on the bus line. Many times, rent includes the cost of utilities and cable/internet. My first apartment was spacious, on the FSU bus route, and included my own bathroom, for 500 a month. Be cautious when looking for houses, however. Landlords can make things difficult and they tend to require more upkeep.

Campus Food: There Are Many Options, Most of Which Are Decent. FSU has two main dining halls with many options. One can find pizza, sandwiches, wraps, pasta, dessert, etc at these two places. At the union, one can find a Chilis, Subway, and Pollo Tropical, as well as sushi, frozen yogurt, assorted salads, and crepes. There is something for everyone.

Campus Quality: Lot of Outside Activities – There are plenty of things to do outside of the campus.

Drug Safety: A Common Issue – Overall, FSU is a pretty big party school. Peer pressure is not a big deal, but its not difficult to find drugs and alcohol. The school will enforce its policies pertaining to drugs and alcohol if you get caught violating them.

5 College Freshman

Diversity: Good luck finding a more Diverse school – This place is amazingly diverse. There are students of every type all over campus. They have plenty of opportunities with all the groups and events devoted to diversity. It's a total melting pot here. I've been to a lot of other schools that seem to have a sort of average student identity. FSU has everyone

Greek Life: I'm Not in It, but Those Who Are Enjoy It. Greek life is a pretty big deal at FSU, but its not a big deal if youre not Greek. A lot of kids try not to associate with them. They seem to like what they do.

Drug Safety: Not Noticeable – Living on campus my freshman year I think I heard about drugs only a couple of times. I never really saw or smelled anything. I'm sure that you could find drugs if you wanted to, but if you're not into them, there should be absolutely no trouble avoiding them.

Scholarships: Process Was Difficult – As a master degree student getting hlep for fincancial aid is lacking

Majors: I absolutely adore being in exercise science, it is similar to biology but it does not include evolution or plants. Exercise science focuses more on the body which I love. I want to become a cardiovascular doctor or a physician's assistant for trauma. I am slightly concerned with getting into a physician's assistant program, but after I get in I believe everything will be smooth sailing. Doctors are always needed.

4 College Freshman

Majors: Pretty Easy – The process of getting into my exercise science major was pretty easy for me because I came in with a lot of credits already, but for others it maybe more tedious. There wasn't really an abnormal application process. To declare, I believe you need a specific GPA and likewise you need to complete a certain amount and specific credits.

Party Scene: Constantly Rated – Maxim magazine has consistently rated FSU one of the best party schools in the nation. Our nightlife has a fair mix between 21+ clubs and bars that allow 18 year olds. Happy hours in Tallahassee (usually Fridays) take place at Potbelly's and the nightclub Paradigm. Both are great venues that cater to different groups (Potbelly's has more of a Southern feel and Paradigm is great for LGBT students and people with a taste for techno/dubstep.

Athletics: Best in the Nation – Our football team, men's baseball team, women's basketball team, women's soccer team and men's basketball team are some of the best in the nation. We have consistently made it to each sports' particular championship tournament, or in football's case, had an incredible season and a good recruitment class.

Technology: Not Enough – While the computers are definitely high-functioning and work well, there aren't nearly enough at FSU. In the evening, you can walk into one of our libraries and see every single computer taken. This may be made up for by our awesome amount of mass-media/production equipment.

Diversity: Good Amount – On a racial level, there are far more whites and Hispanics than blacks or Asians. However, this is overshadowed by the fact that everyone is extremely welcoming and inclusive and there are a great deal of organizations on campus that service the needs of nearly all "minority" groups, including a Black Student Union, Pride (LGBT), Buddhist Student Association, etc.

Party Scene: The Day Time Campus Shuttle Turns Into Nightime Club Bus – For me it will be a B because you have to be creative in doing something you like other than the club and bar scene such as catching a movie at the Student Life Centre or the theatres or planning a sleep over with friends. If you like the club scence you have the Night Nole to take you home if yourtoo drunk too drive depending on where you live.

Majors: I Always Get a Compassionate Look When I Tell People My Major – Individual: "What is your major"
Me: "Biology"
Individual: :\ O wow

More than 50% ofte people who start out in this major end up switching. It takes a lot of pople more than four years to finish and it destroys your GPA. The smart ones switch to another major, the extra strong ones stay an make it through and the not so fortunate ones make it some way or another. If you are into marine biologyand animal biology and research theyou may be the kind to like it. I feel that if you are more inclined on medicine do something else and then take courses such as Genetics, Molecular Biology etc to get a minor otherwise you will be takin Plant Biology,Evolution, Vertebrae Physiology (which is more like a rush through of Anatomy and Physiology). There are a lot of uninteresting, brutal courses you would have to take if you are good at memorizing you would be considered one of the extra strong ones.

Campus Quality: The Scenery – Everyone loves the landscaping that FSU have even got transfers from UF because of that. Also it is not so huge to where you end up getting lost

Local Area: A Ghost Town When College Students Are Gone – If it had not been for the thousands of college students entering each semester Tallahassee would have been a ghost town. Many businesses such as restuarants, shops, apartments, home owners and clubs would not be able to make any money from the students trying to survive in this place as they get their degrees. I feel that the apartment complexes treat us the worst as they expect us to pay thousands of dollars for old, broken down apartments and high utilities and not very good business and honesty. If it was not for Florida State trying to keep events and even the organizations on campus holding parties I beleive a lot of students would die here. Also the clubs and bars are what keeps things booming here for some people but for more low key and conservative people you would have to be more creative such as going to the Rez for outdoor activities and sports activities such as basketball, volley ball, jogging picnics in the numerous parks Tallahassee have available. There are different places to shop as well such as the famous GW Fashions (Goodwill) to local boutiques in different areas in Tallahassee. There has also been an increase in student business here in Tallahassee as well. So there are good, bad and sometimes ugly here in Tallahassee but as they say the strong would survive.

3 College Freshman

Party Scene: You'll Get Over It – The nightlife is pretty okay and there's plenty of 18-and-older clubs but after a while you get bored of it. The Strip which is a whole line of clubs on a street, is literally like a block away from campus although lots of people get bored from it and look for elsewhere to go. After your first year though you realize that house and frat parties are most definitely better.

5 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: There are so many options for off campus housing. Some are of course really expensive but it is far less expensive to live off campus than on campus. There are bus systems that drop off and pick up near apartments so it is not a necessity to have a car though it is way more convenient.

3 College Sophomore

Administration: Security on campus for the most part is average. FSUPD are more like rent a cops and aren't very reassuring. Underage drinking is really strict especially at football games.

Campus Quality: Florida State has top notch athletic facilities including the Leach Center and Tully gym. They are clean with state of the art equipment allowing students and faculty to use.

You would be hard-pressed to find a graduate of Florida State University who doesn’t have fond memories of the years they spent on campus. Current students will also agree that they are happy with their decision to attend school here. There is something for everyone, from athletics to academia, and you would have a hard time finding a more comfortable setting than Tallahassee.
