Local Area: Pretty Much Awesome – FSU has an amazing campus atmosphere and college life there is awesome, I do think that the experience is a little better if you're in Greek life at all, but that's also based more on opinion and preferences.

Administration: Pretty Average I Think – Campus strictness is pretty normal. The only thing I actually found them strict with was in the dorms, any rules broken are taken extremely seriously, but in any other areas they're relatively lenient.

2 College Sophomore

Scholarships: The process is a little annoying because you have to stay on top of the people at the financial aid office in order to make sure your situation is handled in an efficient/ timely manner, and I have received some aid but definitely not enough.

Campus Quality: Music Groups Are Incredible – FSU has one of the best music programs in the country, and everyone can benefit from it. There are plenty of groups open to non-majors, and they are a blast! Students can also attend a wide variety of concerts and recitals for free. The vast number of quality musicians at the school also enhances the local music scene, which is great for any time you want to go out with friends.

Transportation: You Should Try to Live on-Campus or as Close as Possible. Parking on campus is a nightmare, but driving is necessary to get anywhere that is not within 2 square miles of campus. I recommend living close enough to campus to either catch the campus bus, ride a bike, or walk.

Greek Life: Greek Is Great – Greek life is a large part of Florida State University. A large portion of the student body is involved in Greek. The Greek houses are extremely nice are good living. They are all right on campus and close to many classes and events. The houses have strict visitation hours as well. However, the Greek life doesn't dominate. You don't have to be in Greek to enjoy campus life and meet people. Greek is an easy way to do it but it is not the only way to meet people and have fun.

Campus Housing: It's a Complex Process. There are a multitude of good dorms at FSU but there are bad dorms as well. At FSU you have what's called a "priority number." This is essentially your spot in line for a dorm. You can select dorm priority or roommate priority. If you choose dorm, you have a better chance at getting a good dorm, however you get a random roommate. If you pick roommate, you have to take the worst priority number, worsening your spot in line and this could affect your dorm choices. Freshmen are not guaranteed housing and nor are they required to live on campus. Living Learning Communities (LLC) are the best dorms. You live in large rooms and even have a class or two in your facility. All of the dorms are close to classes and events. Walks to class are short no matter where you live. Dorms are all equipped with beds, desks, closets, sinks, and fridges. Some dorms have community style living where everyone on a floor share a bathroom, or suit style where 4 people share 1 bathroom. In suit style you have to clean your own bathroom. On major flaws of dorm life is that the only dorm that has wifi is the all girl dorm Jennie Murphree.

Campus Quality: So Much to Do. The facilities at FSU are incredible. There are gym facilities with everything you can imagine in them. There are workshops to take at the gym that are fun and a great way to make friends! FSU also has it's very own circus. Anyone can join! It has a state of the art facility and the shows are always a big hangout spot. The student union is great too! At the union we have our own student run club that brings bands from all over to come play shows. The union also a bowling alley and a movie theatre that plays select movies before they some out on occasion. At the union there is great food too! There's a Chili's and a Bagel Boys! Also on campus is the all famous Rez. It's essentially the school's lake where anyone can go swimming and kayaking! It's always so much fun! There is never a dull moment at Florida State.

Campus Quality: Academic Programs That Are Hard to Find – FSU offers some programs that most of the other Florida schools don't offer, such as actuarial science and risk management/insurance. I'm an actuarial science major and they are the only university in Florida that has kept this major and they are continuing to grow stronger. The amount of contacts that they have and how active the club is, will undoubtedly help everyone to find a career or help continue in graduate school. There are also previous students that have been contributing to the program by adding more scholarships, which is great news for students like me! As for risk management, they too are the lone major program in Florida and they prepare you for everything. Both provide with internship opportunities and that is something that is extremely helpful.

Off-Campus Dining: Hidden Choices Close to Campus – There are a lot of little restaurants around FSU that are priced with the college student in mind! I like that there are many different options to go for, whether I'm in the mood for some baklava or just a really good burger I know I don't have to travel far from campus to get it. There are also the homestyle chicken places and being that Tallahassee is a Southern town, you know you can find some gems in the rough. The lunch specials are very inviting and normally I find that I don't spend over $7 for a really big meal that comes with a drink. I haven't really used any student discounts, but then again I haven't really had to look for them. Always look for early dinner specials or happy hour at the mexican restaurants around! I recommend places like Voodoo dog, little athens gyro, and the creepevine as my top three restaurants around Tallahassee for price, quality, and quantity!

Health & Safety: Blue Light Trail – I have never felt threatened or scared walking across campus past midnight. I usually see campus police driving around. at any one point on campus or on a FSU trail, you are within 300 feet of a blue light pole. pressing it immediately connects to campus police. the lights are spaced so that if you hit multiple lights, the police can find you that much easier. also, there are multiple late night ride programs free with the student ID.

Guys & Girls: The Melting Pot – FSU really personifies the Melting pot. Guys and girls of all backgrounds, ethnicities, countries, and religions wander its campus and EVERYONE is cheerful and happy.

Campus Food: Love It – the food is good, the servers learn your face and what food you like to eat. the staff is always cheerful. FSU dining does a wonderful job!

3 College Freshman

Campus Food: Good Food, Long Walks – I have a dining hall pretty close to the dorm that I'm staying in, however, if I wanted to visit another dining hall, I'd have to walk for 15 minutes over some hilly terrain. The food quality is great and the lunch ladies are super friendly, but the places that count for my meal plan are far apart!

Transportation: Buses Are Great, Safe Bus Too – The public transportation is great here. I only wish I took more advantage of it. The Safe Bus at night is a great, and for lack of better words- 'safe' route to take instead of walking at night.

3 College Sophomore

Diversity: Pretty Diverse Group – I don't only include race as diversity, I consider opinions on certain issues and involvement a huge factor in determining diversity of a school. Being very involved on campus, I would have to say the opinions, political beliefs, and sexual orientation are what make FSU most diverse and that is why I love this school so much.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Food: Great Service, Pretty Good Food – I enjoyed having a meal plan last year- it was convenient. But I found I got sick of the food that was prepared. Everyone who worked there was very friendly though.

2 College Junior

Campus Food: Price Is Right – The dining on campus is convenient between classes but the prices is out of control. It can be get very expensive so it is best to get the meal plan. It is a variety of food on campus an the menus great.

Diversity: Well everything on campus is pretty lively it is different type of race, people from around the world attend my school. Therefore with the students being a different race its obviously they will have different backgrounds. Most of choose are base on the student beliefs.

Greek Life: It is a Greek school everyone live in there own world. People live where ever they can afford honestly. The college to offer college dorms but i choose to live with my parents and save money.

Campus Quality: Beautiful and It Keeps Getting Better. Most of the facilities on campus have been renovated and look gorgeous.
All of the building are brick, and it has the appearance of an old, distinguished university. There are several new building, all of which are stunning, inside and out. The school is constantly working to maintain and improve the campus, and it surely is one of the most beautiful campuses in the nation.
There are also state of the art gyms, recreation centers, computer labs, and a fantastic movie theater, all free for students.
The libraries are outstanding, and so is everything else.

Campus Food: Usually Pretty Good, Sometimes It Falls Short – On most days, the food at both dining halls on campus is great. You can tell the food is good quality, and they have a lot of variety.

Sometimes, however, the cooks might accidentally cook the food too long, or put a little too much salt. This isn't a common problem though.

As far as nutritional value goes, all the food is seemingly well balanced, with nutrition labels put out for every meal. The only problem is sodium, which is high. For a college student, this isn't a big concern, as everything we eat has mountains of sodium, but occasionally, it might seem outrageous, like a 1500 mg of sodium sun dried tomato pasta dish.

The meal plans on campus are a good value as well.

Local Area: Tallahassee Has It All – Whatever your into, you can find it at FSU and in Tallahassee.
Tallahassee has it all, concert venues, night clubs, great locally owned college pig-out restaurants, beautiful parks, including a national forest minutes outside city limits, shopping malls, Lots of school and city clubs/organizations to join, movie theaters for students, rock climbing gym, arts festivals, food festivals, and much, much more.

The local attitude towards students is outstanding. They treat you with respect and decency, and so far while living in this city, i have yet to encounter an unpleasant person. Its almost unbelievable.

3 College Senior

Off-Campus Housing: They Are All the Same – At the end of the day all the places are all the same. Expensive, some look better than others, some have pools, some have courts, some have frat houses but ALL the managements swindle you and treat you like you're dumb just because you are a college kid.

4 College Senior

Majors: Pretty Happy – Like my program. Counselors aren't terrible. Would definitively do it over again. Plan on being a sports psychologist. Have some concerns considering it isn't the biggest field on the market.
