Off-Campus Dining: They Have Everything – Any major chain restaurant you can think of, Tallahassee has it. Some are farther away than others but you can always find something good to eat. Jimmy Johns is the best and they deliver. Mellow mushroom is also fantastic!

Overall Experience: It Grows on You – The weather is absolutely atrocious. However for the first time ever I have experienced the leaves changing which for a true Floridian is pretty awesome. There is ALWAYS tons of stuff going on on campus or close by and is usually free for students. Football games are incredible... and free which is even better. At first I absolutely hated it here but I've grown to like it. Most classes have a laid back feel and I'm never afraid to speak up if I don't understand something which can sometimes be intimidating. If I could do it all again I would still choose FSU but I would not choose to live on campus! With FSU being as big as it is there is something here for everyone, from LARPers to Greek life, the student body is very eclectic. Most students are very friendly and polite (holding doors, saying hello in elevators and the such.) I think the worst part about FSU is it's location in Tallahassee. Traffic sucks and the locals are downright scary!

Campus Housing: Something Else. Unless you get early admittance, DO NOT APPLY TO LIVE ON CAMPUS. You will end up stuck in a crappy dorm aka smith and kellum. I currently live in smith hall. Community bathrooms suck. Overall though it has not been a bad experience. Smith is very social and you actually have to avoid people if you are not wanting to make friends. The worst part about living on campus is no outdoor pool for tanning in the summer time! Best thing about my dorm is the proximity to all of my classes by far. Even so I will not live on campus ever again.

Academics: Surprisingly Easy – I'm very unhappy with the lack of professors I actually have. Out of 5 classes I only have 1 professor and 4 T.A.'s. My coursework is so easy and I'm usually pretty bored with it. I'm hoping it will get more difficult as I get further along into college.

Guys & Girls: Guys and Girls – Most guys and girls at FSU are actually quite dumb. Sex, drugs, and alcohol is a big thing off campus, and girls just willingly give themselves up to guys. It's actually quite demeaning to us girls that actually hold ourselves high and have values.

3 College Freshman

Health & Safety: Pretty Safe, Kinda Sketchy – There are emergency poles all around campus so you are never without one near-by to press and have police come within minutes. The campus is also lit up pretty well at night, but there are not many people out on campus past 9. There is a police station on campus which makes it feel safer knowing that they are so close. They also ticket for the dumbest things, like jay walking and not stopping at stop signs when you're on a bike.

Overall Experience: Absolutely in Love – I am absolutely in love with Florida State. There are so many different types of people and so many different things to do. Whether you're a hard partier or a hard studier, there's always something to do and someone to hang out with.

3 College Freshman

Diversity: Pretty Diverse – Most students are upper middle class white kids with a lot of money, however there are many different ethnicities represented in the student body as well.

5 College Freshman

Local Area: Never a Dull Moment – ALWAYS something to do. Downtown is very pretty and kind of calm. There are 2 malls near the school and food is always within walking distance.

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: The campus is very welcoming and the people are very nice, I rarely feel as if I'm endangered.

3 College Sophomore

Weather: Class in the Rain – Summers here are sweltering, and makes walking to and from class pretty miserable, as does walking to class in the 35 degree rainstorms.

4 College Sophomore

Administration: Attendance Policy Gets Crazy – The new attendance policy is absolutely ridiculous. But, I believe almost all attendance policies are. If students don't want to be in class, I don't want to be in class with them. I have almost perfect attendance in my classes that do take, as well as do not take attendance. Taking away 2 percent of our grade for every unexcused absence after 2. It's a 3 day a week class. Also, why would professors want to teach students that don't want to be there?
Besides that, this campus is very relaxing and enjoyable.

2 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: Drug & Alcohol Usage – There is frequent partying, and drug use all over campus, in the dorms, at the clubs, at house parties etc. Enforcement varies from night to night. Depending on the mood of the cops. Frat houses are loaded with drugs, as are some sorority houses. Many people come to school never expecting to drink, but will "just have a drink of two" to fit in, and not be made fun of.

3 College Junior

Weather: Humid Heat or Dry Cold: Only Two Temperatures – Florida State's campus is land-locked so when taking summer classes there is no summer breeze. It is so humid so students tend to study by the pool. There isn't much of a transition of seasons in Florida so it quickly turns to winter. During winter, it is frigid cold, but unfortunately not enough for us to enjoy snow.

3 College Junior

Transportation: Buses Are Convenient – Transportation around Florida State is great. There are free buses around campus running 6 days per week and have a night bus called the "Night Nole" that will pick students up until 2am with the routes mapped online.

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: Food Galore – There are many off campus dining facilities near campus, and many of these have student discounts. There are a decent number of restaurants open late, and some, like Jimmy Johns will deliver.

4 College Sophomore

Academics: Less Challenging Than Expected – I came to Florida State University because of it's renowned study abroad program and international affairs program. The professors are helpful, and overall great at what they do, but I am a little concerned that what I am learning may not apply directly to any particular career. While I am learning lots, the courses are not nearly as challenging as I had hoped. This may be because I am still a sophomore, but hopefully over the next two years I will learn much more. Campus life is wonderful and the campus is full of bright students wanting to make a difference in the world.

4 College Freshman

Party Scene: Night Life and Parties – There are multiple connecting clubs nearly 0.2 miles from campus. They are very popular and allow students the possibility to walk there rather than drive. Clubs are the most common entertainment for night life. Not too many people have house parties.

3 College Freshman

Campus Food: Decent but Room for Improvement – I eat on campus twice a week. I enjoy the food, however I feel that there could be more of a variety. I prefer the surrounding off campus options much better than the on campus options.

5 College Freshman

Academics: I am in the College of Business and I really love it so far. My major is Business Administration. I have met wonderful peers. My professors are very bright and knowledgeable. I have grown tremendously as a person through the relationships built at the Florida State University College of Business.

5 College Sophomore

Campus Quality: Free, Free, Free – I think the thing that I have grown to appreciate the most at Florida State is the fact that almost everything is free. Transportation, sporting event tickets, carnivals, and much more. The other thing I love is that there is always something to do on the weekends. There are tons of clubs and bars for partying, or if you would rather do something more cultured, there is always a festival or event going on that include arts and music.

3 College Sophomore

Weather: From the South to the North – I am from south Florida, where it is always hot and humid. Moving to a school that is practically southern Georgia was a big change for me. I have never seen snow and never lived in a place that gets below 50 degrees during the day. I have grown to love Tallahassee during the winter time. I have actually gotten to see the seasons change and experienced cold weather more than I ever have before.

5 College Sophomore

Diversity: Diverse as Diverse Gets – I feel as though Florida State University has an incredibly diverse campus. I have met so many new people that come from different states and countries and practice a multitude of religions and traditions. There are many groups on campus dedicated to different religions and cultural groups. We even have a large multicultural fraternity and sorority branch on campus.

5 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: Nole for Life – Florida State University is the best school in the world. The atmosphere is filled with a community of students all striving for one purpose, and that is to become successful. There are so many tools and resources available to become successful all for FREE. Although tuition has increased, I can honestly say that FSU is good with being resourceful and having activities and events that are free and that students can engage in. As a minority student on campus, I feel like no one judges me and that everyone is equal. There are so many opportunities and ways to get involved on campus. All in all, I can say that coming to FSU is the best decision I have made in my life.

3 College Sophomore

Greek Life: Greeks Are Geeks – Greek life at FSU is pretty divided as expected on any campus. I must say that Greek letter organizations on campus is extremely involved on and off campus. Greek students are not viewed any different by non-Greeks on our campus because most Greek organizations have members who are on executive boards with different organizations of students who are not Greek. Many Greek organizations host events with different non-Greek organizations to show that there is no social difference of campus. As far hosing, there are many houses that the Greek students get to stay in and scholarship houses in honor or different Greek letter organizations.

You would be hard-pressed to find a graduate of Florida State University who doesn’t have fond memories of the years they spent on campus. Current students will also agree that they are happy with their decision to attend school here. There is something for everyone, from athletics to academia, and you would have a hard time finding a more comfortable setting than Tallahassee. It has so much to offer, from exciting nightlife to beautiful weather.

Although it bears the reputation of a party school, FSU also has a growing reputation for turning out some of the best and brightest graduates in the entire nation. The school is now turning its focus on research, which should appeal to those interested in science and mathematics. But never fear, FSU also emphasizes the arts through their award-winning film and theater departments. From math and science, to the arts, FSU offers a vast array of eclectic degrees, which will be nothing but helpful later in your life.
