Campus Housing: The dorms are average, depending on which one you live in.

3 College Freshman

Technology: Sometimes getting online can be a hassle but there are many computers available in the many libraries on campus. They are sometimes crowded but they are available most of the time. They also rent out laptops and such.

3 College Freshman

Health & Safety: There are "safe buses", security guards, cameras and everyone is cautious. There are mishaps here and there but overall a safe and quiet campus.

3 College Senior

Majors: FCS Is a Great Major! All you have to do to get into the family and child sciences major is taking four classes. After that you are in the college as long as you declared it as your major. Most of the professors really care about you and want you to succeed.

3 College Senior

Weather: RAIN RAIN GO AWAY! When it rains it is horrible. FSU is on a hill and it is a compact campus so you will do a lot of walking and the buses can fill up soon so if it rains expect to get soaked.

4 College Senior

Campus Food: FSU is great at making your dining experience great. There are a number of places to eat on campus from Bagels, to Papa Johns, to Chilis! The dining halls have fresh food that is some of the best I have tasted on any university campus. If you like Harry Potter then you will love the dining halls at FSU!

4 College Junior

Overall Experience: I Love It – I love Florida State. I enjoy myself in class and out. The social scene is great and the faculty is helpful.

3 College Junior

Majors: Pretty easy to be a psych major here. The workload is hefty but nothing you wouldn't expect at an accredited university. The curriculum is pretty straightforward. Many internship opportunities through DIS. The facilities are great.

3 College Junior

Administration: Dont Get Into With the Law – If you are to be caught by local authorities they reserve the right to tell your school even if it is a minor charge. Usually an essay will get you out of trouble but it is still a pain in the rear.

3 College Junior

Technology: The computers at FSU are by no means state of the art but at the same time they aren't clunkers. The Wi-Fi acts up a lot and can be painfully slow at times. The printers in the library are usable for 10 cents a page. You will save yourself much stress by having your own PC, which I feel like is mandatory, and having your own printer which will.

Overall Experience: This is the university i hope my children will someday attend. There is excellent school spirit and comradery among the different programs. The professors have been very helpful and given more personal attention to my success that I would expect from such a large university.

5 College Senior

Administration: I have not run into any situations that policies infringed on my feelings of personal freedom.

3 College Senior

Health & Safety: The safety measures at FSU seem to meet national standards. There is a campus alert system through e-mail and text message. There is also a police department specifically for the university, and pertinent numbers to reach the department are given out at orientations. There are blue light stations loacted around campus as well. Also, certain buildings are only accessible through a key card.

4 College Freshman

Parking: You Could Do Without a Car – Parking is horrible once 11am hits, but if you get a morning class, you are in perfect shape. But you don't NEED your car on campus because there is a shuttle bus that can take you wherever you need to go for free.

3 College Freshman

Technology: Could Be Better, but up to Par – We don't have the newest computers and they all have like a 5 second delay when logging in, but I've never had a computer crash on me so that's good.

5 College Freshman

Health & Safety: I Am Notified of All Issues – I receive emails whenever something happens near or on campus and I feel safe on campus at all times.

4 College Sophomore

Majors: Love It – I love my program, I would definitely do it all over again. I want to be a Nurse Practitioner; there are plenty of jobs in that field!

3 College Sophomore

Weather: Pretty Good but Some Downsides – It's Florida so we don't get too much variation in weather. But our campus is VERY spread out, so when it's raining or cold, the walk to classes is AWFUL.

5 College Sophomore

Campus Quality: Our facilities are very nice and very inviting. Our gym is state-of-the-art, and our union, although not brand new, has plenty to see and do; there are countless food vendors, places to study, shops, even a bowling alley and night club!

5 College Freshman

Campus Quality: Everything Is Giant – There are no small buildings here. In every direction there are expansive brick structures that are unbelievably beautiful. The gym is dated, but is a gym and works all the same. The libraries are 24 hours, expansive, and always bustling with people. The online catalog of books is available anywhere so you can research which books you need before heading to pick them up. We have our own concert venue/comedy club in the union which offers great events. Also if you live on campus each dorm will host a plethora of events from candy grams, to haunted houses, to an amazing race. Other notable things on campus are a movie theater, and bowling alley.

2 College Freshman

Scholarships: We had issues and I almost received no financial aid money because my older sister marked one box wrong on her own taxes! My dad called every day for weeks straightening everything out for me.

2 College Freshman

Parking: THERE ARE NEVER ANY SPOTS! Parking is atrocious. Usually I end up parking a 15 minute walk away from my dorm even though there is a big parking lot right behind it. Luckily you get a free parking decal and freshman can have there cars though. If you can't follow basic instructions, expect tickets. If you put your car in a spot, don't expect a ticket. If you don't have a car you will be fine, but I don't know what I would do with out mine. FSU students get free rides on the city bus system as well as our campus system so you can get around easily with out one. Plus most people have cars so you can easily find someone to take you somewhere if needed.

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: They Have Everything – Any major chain restaurant you can think of, Tallahassee has it. Some are farther away than others but you can always find something good to eat. Jimmy Johns is the best and they deliver. Mellow mushroom is also fantastic!

3 College Freshman

Overall Experience: It Grows on You – The weather is absolutely atrocious. However for the first time ever I have experienced the leaves changing which for a true Floridian is pretty awesome. There is ALWAYS tons of stuff going on on campus or close by and is usually free for students. Football games are incredible... and free which is even better. At first I absolutely hated it here but I've grown to like it. Most classes have a laid back feel and I'm never afraid to speak up if I don't understand something which can sometimes be intimidating. If I could do it all again I would still choose FSU but I would not choose to live on campus! With FSU being as big as it is there is something here for everyone, from LARPers to Greek life, the student body is very eclectic. Most students are very friendly and polite (holding doors, saying hello in elevators and the such.) I think the worst part about FSU is it's location in Tallahassee. Traffic sucks and the locals are downright scary!

2 College Freshman

Campus Housing: Something Else. Unless you get early admittance, DO NOT APPLY TO LIVE ON CAMPUS. You will end up stuck in a crappy dorm aka smith and kellum. I currently live in smith hall. Community bathrooms suck. Overall though it has not been a bad experience. Smith is very social and you actually have to avoid people if you are not wanting to make friends. The worst part about living on campus is no outdoor pool for tanning in the summer time! Best thing about my dorm is the proximity to all of my classes by far. Even so I will not live on campus ever again.

You would be hard-pressed to find a graduate of Florida State University who doesn’t have fond memories of the years they spent on campus. Current students will also agree that they are happy with their decision to attend school here. There is something for everyone, from athletics to academia, and you would have a hard time finding a more comfortable setting than Tallahassee. It has so much to offer, from exciting nightlife to beautiful weather.

Although it bears the reputation of a party school, FSU also has a growing reputation for turning out some of the best and brightest graduates in the entire nation. The school is now turning its focus on research, which should appeal to those interested in science and mathematics. But never fear, FSU also emphasizes the arts through their award-winning film and theater departments. From math and science, to the arts, FSU offers a vast array of eclectic degrees, which will be nothing but helpful later in your life. Choosing which college to attend is not an easy decision, but if you’re looking for the perfect combination of a good education and a good time, you can’t do much better than Florida State University.
