Weather: Usually the weather is warm and sunny, making walks to class enjoyable and putting you in a good mood to get through the day.

Weather: I love the weather here! Currently, it's the middle of December, and it's still getting up into the 70s. It rains a lot, but a lot of the walk ways are somewhat covered by trees so it's not too bad going to classes, and it doesn't get too cold.

Athletics: Our football team is ranked very high in the nation, and the team spirit is very high. While football is one of the most highly regarded sports at FSU, our other sports are also successful as well. We have a lot of talented athletes, and we have great facilities for training- for both athletes and us regular folks!

5 College Junior

Transportation: Buses come by every 10 minutes and there are stops all along the immediate outskirts of campus!

Guys & Girls: You'll find all types of guys at Florida State! You can find rednecks, city boys, skaters and more! A high majority of the girls are very good looking too! Florida State is a melting pot of people. You can find people from all of the country that want to go here. Our school is centered around a good time and football! We always win best football mascot! GO NOLES!

Campus Quality: I haven't had the opportunity to live on campus. But, that doesn't change that I've experienced a lot of the features of student life. There are restaurants all around, coffee shops with interesting folk, places to study, places to meet up with friends. There are a lot of nice features. This school is lacking in events though. There are only a few publicized events outside of concerts at the music school, or sports games. I have only ever seen 1 flyer for a movie at the cinema here on campus.

Academics: I've been pretty satisfied overall with the academics. Since I was a Transfer Student, it was a big shock going into the Chem. Eng. Program here at FSU. The workload is pretty heavy, but that is to be expected. The program is built to prepare people for the real world. I believe this program does an awesome job of that. The program also stresses the importance of the internships that are available. There are people every year who come to the school looking for interns. These people are from both regional and international companies.

Campus Quality: There are some really good facilities here at FSU. The scientific laboratories are fully equipped and top-notch. Definitely on-par with the best in the world. The libraries are awesomely stocked with books and computers and coffee. There are some innovative study areas. There are also study rooms which are pretty cool. There are lots of green spaces. It's quite a lovely facilities experience.

Academics: I came to FSU because It was the university my mother went to as well as it being the dominant university in Tallahassee ( the town in which I grew up). I went here to save some money instead of going away to Gainesville or Jacksonville for school. I really enjoy it. I am currently employed here and I like the atmosphere. I do wish, however, that there were more international opportunities. I've been looking at some for Engineering and they seem to be cost-prohibitive in terms of prerequisite classes. I would really enjoy going abroad, but I don't think there are any programs that fit my needs here at FSU

Athletics: The football program is a huge deal, although they disappointed us this year. They still won the conference championship, but they're are national championship expectations around here with Jimbo's new recruiting classes. FSU is defending the ACC's basketball title too, we lost a lot of seniors but we're the tallest team in the NCAA. Mostly freshman, so the basketball team will be good in the next few years too (might even get #1 recruit.) The only thing to complain about is students leave games early during blowouts at halftime so they can go party more. But for marquee games (Gators, Clemson, Oklahoma) the atmosphere has to be experienced. You will get the chills the first time you see our mascot throw the spear in the ground at mid-field, and nothing will ever beat the pride of doing the Tomahawk Chop at the game.

Weather: If you're here for a summer semester, it's ridiculously hot. Then again so is the rest of Florida. But between October and March the weather ranges from really cold (for florida) to 60s and 70s. Thats when the weather is amazing. When your walking on campus it's definitely the best weather on a Florida campus.

5 College Freshman

Campus Food: There are plenty of places to eat on campus during the day, but there are very few options at night, after 10:00 or so.

4 College Freshman

Party Scene: There are lots of clubs available for people who are into that sort of thing. There are also venues to see live music.

Guys & Girls: Most of the frat guys are not attractive. Sorority girls, for the most part, are quite attractive but most of them are really slutty and trashy when they go out. That being said, they like country boys with big trucks, or frat guys with their mint green mopeds. There are a lot of different crowds, though, and its extremely cliquey. You definitely need to look the part to be accepted into any social group, and once you look that part, the rest will reject you.
I hate how cliquey it is, its just like high school. But for the most part, there are some really good looking guys and girls on this campus.

Technology: The libraries offer both Macs and PCs, depending on where you go, and they claim WiFi over the whole campus, which IS NOT TRUE! IF you're living in a dorm, bring a cable to plug it into the wall. Do not expect WiFi in your classrooms or outside, or even the library.

Greek Life: Greek life dominates FSU. If you don't go Greek, you WILL be looked down on by the Greeks, and they won't hesitate to turn their nose up at you once they discover you're not Greek. This is rough at first, but you can still make friends in other clubs, you just have to force yourself to go. Even other clubs can be very excluding to new members, especially if all their members have been in this since they were freshman and don't want anyone else. They'll let you in, but they won't offer for your to join them or anything. I have noticed that a good majority of them are only in it for the parties, but a couple of houses are there for the brotherhood/sisterhood, and enriching each others lives.
I feel like this was harsh to say, but somebody has to tell the ugly truth.

Majors: Dietetics is super competitive and they won't hesitate to deny you for ANYTHING, no matter how tiny. I spent a while as a nutrition major while applying, which meant that I had to fulfill the nutrition milestones AND the dietetics milestones, which are actually quite different. This was really rough, as nutrition requires a lot of math, which I stink at, and that was bringing my GPA down to get into the dietetics program. "Oh, you have a C in calculus, which isn't even required for this major? Why don't you try next semester?"

3 College Freshman

Majors: If you are bad at math, you're screwed. College algebra is a required freshman course, and to take ANY science at all you must pass this. If you're a science major like me, you're not allowed to take an easy one at a community college back home. Also, check and recheck the prerequisites for EVERY class. You might be trying to sign up for that cooking class, when you realize you need to have taken organic chem I and II, and for that you need general chem I and II, and for that you need college algebra and precalc, and so on. Its a pain in the behind, is what it is. This is exactly what I'm going through right now. Also, look on the required classes for your major and start geting the prereqs done NOW. Do not put it off by taking electives. Get into every class you need for your major now. You don't want to be signing up for that REQUIRED cooking class (for dietetics majors, anyway) and discover you need 4 chems and labs! :D

Weather: In the summer and spring and early fall, its super hot! You will be dripping with sweat trying to hustle to and from classes. The only comforting part of all this is that everyone else is sweating too- this is Florida, after all. In the winter, it can be 30 for your 8am, 60 for your 10am, and then 80 for your 12pm. So dress in layers or make sure you can go back to the dorms and change.

3 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: Something I have to mention... The girls here dress up hardcore. I'm taking dresses and jewelry and make up at 8am. When I read it was "casual", I THOUGHT they meant sweats and jeans and tshirts. The "sweats" down here are leggings and running shoes and usually a *nice* tank top.All the girls wear blouses or dresses or skirts, I hardly see anyone in graphic ts, even the "nerds" or "uncool" kids, they all dress fancy.

If the girls aren't in their leggings or blouses, they're in those Nike running shorts. I feel like that's all the sorority girls wear. If you plan on rushing, stock up on these.

I came in with my graphic ts and jeans and flip flops, and I looked like a slob, especially since I didn't take much time to do my hair or make up.

Now I do a little make up and I've been trying to wear some nice things, but it just isn't me.

I'm not going to be politically correct or sugar coat this. But I want freshman to note this: Everyone looks like a snob. Seriously, every singly guy and girl looks so defensive and mean walking around campus, but if you go up to any of them, they're super friendly. Its like being in Chicago or New York, everyone walks around looking like they hate the world and they're the center of the universe with their noses in the air. But if you talk to them, most of them are super nice, except a few Greek life kids. It sounds horrible to say, but its so true.

Transportation: The buses are pretty good, but you really need that transloc app to make them useful! Sometimes they're a real pain and get you there super late or super early so its a shot in the dark whether or not you'll make it there ON time. I always say go early.

Sometimes the drivers take up to 20 minute long cigarette breaks. Also, once there was this girl talking to the driver and asked for a "favor" to drop her off off campus... And he did it. I missed an appointment because he took some long detour to take this chick somewhere.

But if you leave early enough and are patient (definitely have an iPod or a book) then they're the best thing that's ever happened. As far as the Star Metro buses... Those things SUCK! They are never on time (and they always come on the weirdest times) and they skip stops sometimes even when you pull the cord. Also the bus has gone right past my friends and I on occasion even though we were waving and everything.

Just stay on good terms with the cab companies.

Also, the cabbies will NOT allow you to overstuff the cab. Just ask for a van or two cabs, or you'll be walking!

Administration: This is probably the most relaxed campus ever and it is so nice. The cops pretty much don't care unless you throw it in your face, I know some people have been almost passed out drunk and the cop didn't care. As far as smoking goes, nobody cares. I know some people who light up in class. As long as a fight doesn't start you're pretty good with other drugs. Also, the paramedics will ignore any drugs they see or know you've done, which is nice. Actually the only time I ever encountered the cops was when my boyfriend and I were smoking in the car and he asked to see my ID, even though I knew we reeked. This has happened quite a few times, leading me to believe that their main concern is with statutory rape.

4 College Junior

Academics: All classes I've taken on campus have been excellent. The professors are knowledgeable and helpful. The TA's are all pretty great, too. The two online classes I've taken, however, have been complete nightmares. I've taken online courses at my previous school with no problem, but both times here I have not done well. I find communication with the professors leave something to be desired, and the course work seems unrealistic.

3 College Junior

Local Area: There's not a whole lot to do in Tallahassee. It's fairly safe, but there are areas to stay away from, like with any city. There's some pretty good food here, though! The Korean BBQ on Tennessee is great, so is Sakura grill on Monroe (it's a little pricy, though). Midtown is a pretty cool place to hang out. There are various bars and restaurants all within walking distance that are pretty good.

4 College Junior

Academics: The College of Music at FSU is spectacular. The faculty are friendly and helpful in and out of class. They all genuinely care about the students. The curriculum and workload are intense, but that's to be expected at a good music school. There are tons of opportunities to perform in the area and on campus. The practice rooms in the basement are a little dingy, but it's an old building and... it's a basement. The pianos are maintained, however, and the rooms are generally clean. The instruments kept by the school are a little iffy sometimes... some are in great condition, others work but are a little less than ideal, if only because they are older.

Overall, I'm really pleased with the school, and I'm getting a great education here. Go noles!
