Campus Housing: The freshman dorm that I lived in, Cawthon Hall, was newly renovated when I moved in and it was great. It always smelled clean, the janitorial staff was VERY friendly, and the climate control was just right. It's known as the "music" dorm, so, it was nice to be able to practice my Horn in my room or downstairs in the practice rooms. I highly recommend staying in this dorm, even though it is a bit expensive because you are required to have a meal plan to live there, it is WELL worth it!

Campus Quality: All of the buildings have great continuity of red brick across the campus no matter what year they were built, however, some dormitories and buildings are a little outdated. There is always constant improvement of these buildings and when funds are raised new buildings are created that match the red brick of the rest of campus, but are very high tech and updated on the inside.

Athletics: The entire campus decks out in Garnet and Gold for all our varsity sporting events, including most Women's Sports. Having continually been ranked in the among the top 10 in multiple sports throughout the year has increased the size of the fan population on campus and in the stadiums.

4 Recent Alumnus

Guys & Girls: The student population is repeatedly rated for being among the most attractive campuses in the country and a quick walk around campus will confirm these ratings.

Campus Quality: My major program (sport management) is one of the best in the country. Some great faculty who will do anything to help you succeed in and out of the classroom.

4 College Senior

Campus Quality: Alot to do if you're into sports like I am. Leach is the best gym I have ever worked out in and I'm a lifting junkie.

Off-Campus Housing: Off campus housing is horrible. There are too many off campus housing options that cater to the frat scene and aren't many options for the students that go to the University to do well and want to focus more on their studies.
A lot of the apartments are not well taken care of as landlords don't care because they know they are going to fill vacancies easily as there is not enough room on campus for students.
The only plus side is there are some options that are actually cheaper than on campus housing which is what makes it so appealing to students.

Weather: It rains a lot in Tallahassee. You have to carry your umbrella with you everyday as you never know when or if it will rain and you can't rely on the weather forcast. Rainboots are a must and highly recommended. Other than the rain it's usually quite hot, but the humidity is not as intense.

4 College Senior

Guys & Girls: There are all sorts of people on the FSU campus. On any given day you can see at least 10 different kinds cultural backgrounds, some more apparent than others. There are many foreign students, especially of Asian descent. Students choose to dress anywhere from pajamas and flip-flops, to a primped out romper and heels. Greek life can be quite irritating when you are an outsider looking in; sometimes those groups can be an awful ego boost for those who seek it.

Off-Campus Dining: The food around campus is really good, typical restaurants and just very on the go and fast service.

2 College Sophomore

Campus Food: I dont really attend dining halls, i hear its a waste of money to buy a meal plan the food isn't always very good.

2 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: Drugs aren't noticeable at all, Drinking is much more noticeable, especially on game day.

2 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: It all depends on who you hang out with. A lot of kids smoke weed and drink alcohol but if you decline, no one will judge you for it

3 College Sophomore

Greek Life: From what I see on facebook, Greek life looks like a lot of fun but i witnessed the hell my roommate went through to get into a Frat during my freshman year and that turned me off from it. Yes you will have a big social life if you go Greek but there are so many other opportunities on campus to get involved also.

3 College Junior

Health & Safety: for the amount of crime in Tallahassee, Florida State does an incredible job letting the students know when a crime has been committed on campus. The campus is very clean and the health center is super nice

3 College Junior

Off-Campus Housing: There are very nice places to live off-campus, but some people cannot afford to live there because of the high prices. That might be why the neighborhoods are so nice, though.

4 College Freshman

Party Scene: The nightlife here is pretty ridiculous. If you are a girl feel free to go to any frat party you want. There is four main clubs people go to that get very crazy on the weekends and select nights. There's a big DJ in town almost every week. There are also a solid amount of nice chill bars if you don't like clubbing.

Local Area: There is all different kinds of people for you to fit in with. People are usually looking to have a great time. You may feel a little left out if you're not in greek life, if you're trying to have a crazy college party life, but it shouldn't be that big a deal to you there are always other places to go. There is a good amount of college restaurants and shopping malls.

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: For the most part the health here is very good. The dining halls offer healthy food and there are multiple gyms for you to go to everyday if you so desire. The campus security department is also really good as there are emergency phone/posts literally like every one hundred feet. The police response is very quick.

4 College Freshman

Drug Safety: There is a lot of drug use in the frats and sororities but you don't have to be a part of it if you do not want to. No body is going to force you to do the drugs.

3 College Freshman

Technology: FSU has great labs with high end technology and it's available to you at any time. The Johnson building, where they have tutoring and help, offers mac books and I pads to use while you're in their to aid you in your studying. The printing is cheap just 8 cents per copy and that's great to have especially when we're all college students with almost no money. The wifi is not the best thing out there. Just like any large school with thousands of students using it at the same time, it's going to get slow, so you should really invest in an Ethernet cord for when you're at the dorm doing research, it makes everything much faster.

Off-Campus Dining: Most of the restaurants around FSU are usually chain restaurants with Burger king and Jimmy johns but, if you don't mind walking quite a bit, then you'll find a couple of really good restaurants that offer Mongolian cuisine and a bunch of other restaurants that actually have really good food.

Off-Campus Housing: Tallahassee is the capital city, but it's still not a city. The off-campus housing is pretty lengthy of a walk and you better know your self defense because most of it is in the sketchy part of town. Overall, they're a little pricey, though nothing compared to dorms, small, and not in a good location. But if you have a car, then they're fine, just remember to lock up at night.

Overall Experience: FSU has provided me with a well rounded college experience. Even as a busy nursing student, I am relieved to still have time to experience the town with my friends. There are plenty of places within walking distance of campus to eat and drink, and tons of things to do within budget. The traditions are superb, the environment is beautiful. I love Florida State.

4 College Senior

Local Area: Tallahassee is a beautiful city that gives visitors a taste of the real Florida. Tallahassee offers residents old southern flare and lots of local cuisine.
