Academics: All classes I've taken on campus have been excellent. The professors are knowledgeable and helpful. The TA's are all pretty great, too. The two online classes I've taken, however, have been complete nightmares. I've taken online courses at my previous school with no problem, but both times here I have not done well. I find communication with the professors leave something to be desired, and the course work seems unrealistic.

Local Area: There's not a whole lot to do in Tallahassee. It's fairly safe, but there are areas to stay away from, like with any city. There's some pretty good food here, though! The Korean BBQ on Tennessee is great, so is Sakura grill on Monroe (it's a little pricy, though). Midtown is a pretty cool place to hang out. There are various bars and restaurants all within walking distance that are pretty good.

Academics: The College of Music at FSU is spectacular. The faculty are friendly and helpful in and out of class. They all genuinely care about the students. The curriculum and workload are intense, but that's to be expected at a good music school. There are tons of opportunities to perform in the area and on campus. The practice rooms in the basement are a little dingy, but it's an old building and... it's a basement. The pianos are maintained, however, and the rooms are generally clean. The instruments kept by the school are a little iffy sometimes... some are in great condition, others work but are a little less than ideal, if only because they are older.

Overall, I'm really pleased with the school, and I'm getting a great education here. Go noles!

Weather: It gets nice and cold during the winter, which is a nice difference from other Florida universities, where it's pretty much 80 degrees year round.

Majors: I am extremely happy with the program. I would do it again. My career goal is to be able to apply my knowledge practically with older adults. I am extremely committed to advocating for the rights of older adults and counseling them through life transitions. I am currently working in the social work field in a health care setting. I am not worried about finding a job in the field as I have the belief the right opportunity will come as I continue to apply myself to my passion of social work.

Greek Life: I am not on campus, but have heard Greek life is awesome. I am in a distance learning program and have not had the Greek experience.

5 College Senior

Scholarships: I have had a good experience, although at times it has been frustrating to talk to a real person. Much is done online.

Campus Quality: I have loved the Social Work program. It is exciting to be a part of a program that will support my future goals. I am in a distance learning program. It is designed to allow me to work and attend school. The professors have been awesome. I now look forward to this last year and a life-long goal finally being achieved.

Athletics: There is a lot of school pride, football is huge here. They constantly send emails out about when the games are and how to get tickets. It is easy to get tickets and go to the games.

4 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: It's a huge school so there is a ton of different people/styles. Definitely a lot of attractive guys and girls depending on where you hangout. They are not always the most friendliest people if they don't know you.

5 College Sophomore

Athletics: Florida State is really good at engaging their students in their sports. They send informative e-mails, make sure that everyone that wants a ticket knows exactly hot to get it. The workout facilities are also fabulous and always clean.

Scholarships: I received reasonable amount of financial aid. You have to be responsible and go to the office frequently because over the phone they will give you the complete wrong information.

3 College Sophomore

Parking: Parking on campus can be stressful if you don't get there on time. I prefer taking the bus but when I've had to drive I make sure I get to campus at least 30 minutes before my class starts. Cars that are parked incorrectly are frequently being ticketed and fined but they're just doing their job!

4 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: On a daily basis the students walk around in a rush from class to class. Typical sweat pants with a tank or a sweatshirt is what is often seen. There is a vast amount of students with different styles. There are a majority of students who do put time and effort to look presentable and professional for their classes to show respect to their professors.

3 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: Drugs are not that big of a problem on this campus. The consumption of Alcohol is the main concern.

Campus Housing: The newer dormitories like Degraff and Wild Wood are well organized and maintained. Older dormitories like Smith and Sally are not as well maintained, but the experience is well worth it. College is a learning pool of how to overcome situations in life. It all starts with your living environment. Make sure you choose right.

2 College Senior

Campus Housing: I lived in one of the older dorms at FSU and it wasn't very clean or updated; however there are many other newer dorms or off-campus options.

4 College Senior

Guys & Girls: The guys and girls at FSU are known to be very attractive and highly social.

Guys & Girls: Surprisingly, almost everyone here is really nice to look at. When you hear the rumors about how pretty the girls are here or how hot the guys look with their shirts off running around throwing frisbees, believe them. ;)

3 College Freshman

Parking: While parking in the garages can get a bit hectic sometimes, even though is says GARAGE FULL, there's usually a few parking spaces that haven't been accounted for. Also, there's parking on campus that isn't in the garages, it's more so along the streets on Landis Green or in parking lots around campus. Just be sure to get there early if you want or need a good spot.

4 College Freshman

Athletics: Varsity sports here are a HUGE thing. Everyone adores going to the football and basketball games, because of the rush of seeing all those people wielding the tomahawk.

4 College Freshman

Greek Life: Most of the Greek Life here is for service, which is great!

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: I have never felt unsafe on campus, but there are plenty of safety precautions if one does feel unsafe.

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: The restaurants around here are normal to other college towns. Fast food, bars, sitdowns, cafes... All types of food within walking distance or take a bus.

3 College Freshman

Campus Housing: Some of the buildings are very old such as Kellum, Smith, and Salley. Regardless of were you stay if you will enjoy yourself all depends on room/suite/floor mates and the RA. Residence halls on the west side of campus are usually cheaper and older the opposite for the east side. Check out for more info.
