Technology: Multiple computer labs all around campus; in the library and often in other buildings.
There is wifi all around campus in which any student can connect. There are often outages on blackboard every semester.

Campus Quality: All of the facilities are in great condition and offer a lot of activities!

Health & Safety: There are usually police on campus and there is also the blue trail.

Diversity: FSU is a mostly white school however I still see people of many other races walking around campus and FSU as a suprisingly large number of foreign exchange students. People of all different economic statuses attend school here as well as people of all different religions, beliefs, and sexual orientation

Campus Quality: On any given day on FSU's campus there will be an activity of some sort going on. Wednesdays FSU has market wednesdays where vendors will set up in the union and sell anything from handmade clothing to dvds. Landis Green is a popular hangout spot where you can witness anything from students jousting in medieval gear, to a group of guys tossing a football around, to girls tanning on towels on the grass.

Administration: FSU is certainly very strict about it's parking- you will definitely get a ticket or get towed if you park in the wrong space! As far as underage drinking goes, don't leave any bottles out in your dorm or they will be confiscated but as long as they aren't in plain sight and you aren't too loud drinking you will be fine. Most of my friends have gotten an MIP at one point or another so just stay smart.

Campus Quality: Florida State has a beautiful campus. Even though it is a large school, it feels very small and welcoming for its size. The library is newly renovated (completed about 3 years ago) as well as the William Johnston Building which has state of the art tutoring centers and plenty of areas where you can sit and study between classes. About half the dorms or new or have been newly renovated while the other half resemble prison cells. Students love the football team here.

Local Area: There is always something going on in Tallahassee! There are tons of on campus activities that appeal to everyone at FSU! Whether it be a free movie at the SLC, or a concert at Club Down Under, a free even at the Union, or just chilling on Landis. Also, there areseveral popular hangouts around the school that are popular with things going on every night. There are clubs like Coliseum, Lit, and Bajas where you can spend a friday night with friends, and also The Strip is close by. Another fun thing to do on the weekend if the weather is nice is to go hangout at the Rez, maybe play some volleyball and go swimming. My favorite thing to do is go to Paint a Pot on campus to unwind. In addition, all the people I have run into have been extremely friendly and helpful. The overall atmosphere here at FSU is friendly and welcoming. Feels just like home.

Transportation: Transportation at Florida State is great, there are many options including the many bus routes, the night 'nole( a safe call-in ride for nighttime), biking, and others. The buses that run around the Florida State campus are free for students and have different routes to main off campus locations including stores and housing.

5 College Freshman

Party Scene: The nightlife at Florida State is one of the best parts about this school. There are many options that include fun for just about any audience. Transportation is not an issue as the school has bus routes that go to all the major places. There is never a dull moment on any given weekend at FSU.

Athletics: Athletics here at Florida State are a big deal. Being one of the large state schools there is pressure to be best in all areas in order to dominate over the other Florida schools. Fan support is never a problem at FSU, there is bound to be a large crowd for any school sporting event. The FSU football team is always competitive and are fun to watch, they are constantly a top 20 team. The facilities are also top notch here, including a new indoor football facility that is under construction.

Majors: Being in the engineering program mostly means that you are surrounded by hard working individuals that are all math and science oriented. The workload in this program is quite substantial, but that is because engineers are well learned in many areas. I do enjoy it because I know that it is one of the steps to get me to where I want to be.

4 College Freshman

Majors: As a civil engineering major I will be involved in internships that may include working with an engineering firm and being somewhat of an assistant and help with some of their projects. It would most likely start off with a lot of observing then working up to actual hands on work with more responsibilities. I have not had an internship yet so I am not sure on the hours or pay, but I do plan on doing one this summer.

Majors: The process for getting into the program I am in was relatively easy, because this is the "pre-engineering" part of the major which is intended to weed the students out who are not right for this work. But for the main program, the 5 required prerequisites must be passed with a C or better and with that one can be accepted into the major program. The only tips that I could offer would be to complete any credits that one can before they get to college that way one could get started with the major program as soon as possible.

Local Area: Tallahassee has a lot for students to do. There are many in and out of school activities for students to participate in, and a wide variation of things to do during the weekends.

Majors: Although I am just in the beginning of my program I find it to be very effective. There is an above 95% graduation rate which is good to know. There are also resources available to help in any situation of need. I am looking forward to getting more into the courses that deal specifically with my major. A career goal of mine is to be able to get a job that interests me, which is why I chose to strive to be a civil engineer. I know that it may not be easy work, but I am excited for the challenges that lie ahead.

Off-Campus Housing: FSU has a variety of apartment complexes around the area. They vary from top notch, expensive, socially desirable apartments with even a pool, tanning center, study rooms, etc. to less luxurious, cheap but extremely acceptable pricing. You can always find somewhere to live near campus, but if you are looking for a top notch place you should consider signing your lease by Thanksgiving break (for the next fall.) The costs vary - the more expensive places can go for about 690/monthly (4x4) to 400/monthly (4x4)

Parking: My school does all possible things to make the parking situation viable for everybody. There are plenty of garages/parking lots around campus. I truly don't think there could be any more garages, but the students also take the spots up fast, and unless you are headed to an 8am class, chances are you are going to have difficulty finding a spot. The ticketing will happen if you are parked in an unauthorized spot, but the pricing for the tickets is reasonable ($20-$25).

5 College Freshman

Technology: The computer labs and computers at the library at FSU are great, there are plenty available everywhere, and they all seem to run fast. I think that a lot of students bring their own computers so they leave the availability open for the few that for some reason cannot bring one. Obviously, it would be better to have one, because that would give you the convenience of being able to work from your own bedroom, but if you cannot have one it would not be a huge issue.

Athletics: Football is the main sport at FSU. Recently our basketball team has gotten better and more people are starting to attend more of the games.

3 College Junior

Majors: Not all major programs are limited admissions. For example, any student can become a Psychology student, there is no cap for admittance. Communications, on the other hand, is a limited access major and a student must meet specific requirements before gaining admission--even then, the number of students in the program is capped. I would check your programs website for additional information on admittance.

2 College Junior

Drug Safety: Alcohol is fairly prevalent on campus. Any football weekend you are very likely to see tailgates with people playing beer pong or other drinking games in parking lots. At night, it is common to see people drinking and walking to bus stops to hit the bars. University Police try to enforce drinking laws, but there are so many students that there is only so much they can do.

1 College Junior

Parking: Parking on campus is a daily challenge for any student who drives. If you drive to an 8AM class parking should be OK, but anything after that time and you are guaranteed to find full garages everywhere you look. Make sure to save a good chunk of time before any classes to try to find a spot. Your best method is to wait for other students walking to their cars and then take their spot.

5 College Sophomore

Greek Life: Greek Life if a great way to meet new people and get involved in the Campus life. You will Volunteer around Campus and get Volunteer hours!! You will also get involved in fun activities, and get to know the girls/guys better.

3 College Sophomore

Technology: They all are readily available, and a great tool to use for your classes. Take advantage of all the usefull tools FSU has to offer!!

You would be hard-pressed to find a graduate of Florida State University who doesn’t have fond memories of the years they spent on campus. Current students will also agree that they are happy with their decision to attend school here. There is something for everyone, from athletics to academia, and you would have a hard time finding a more comfortable setting than Tallahassee. It has so much to offer, from exciting nightlife to beautiful weather.

Although it bears the reputation of a party school, FSU also has a growing reputation for turning out some of the best and brightest graduates in the entire nation. The school is now turning its focus on research, which should appeal to those interested in science and mathematics. But never fear, FSU also emphasizes the arts through their award-winning film and theater departments. From math and science, to the arts, FSU offers a vast array of eclectic degrees, which will be nothing but helpful later in your life. Choosing which college to attend is not an easy decision, but if you’re looking for the perfect combination of a good education and a good time, you can’t do much better than Florida State University.
