3 College Freshman

Campus Food: There is always different food on the menus in each dining hall and there are several other restaurants on campus.

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: There is a good variety of restaurants surrounding the campus and they are very affordable.

5 College Freshman

Academics: I love being a biology major because there are so many opportunities to do research on campus.

5 College Freshman

Academics: Professors are the best and there are many opportunities for tutoring and studying.

4 College Freshman

Transportation: Campus buses will take you anywhere on campus and even certain places off-campus.

3 College Freshman

Parking: Student permits are free, but you don't really need a car. Everything is within walking distance.

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: Tough to drive around, and tougher to eat on a budget.

2 College Freshman

Parking: Hard to find a spot in most garages that are close to the center of campus, but easy the further you go. Parking enforcement is very selective and at time laughable.

5 College Sophomore

Majors: You can be whatever you want at FSU. There are a wide variety of major options as well as minors.

4 College Sophomore

Majors: It is a lot of hard work, but that is to be expected as a biology major on the pre-med track.

5 College Sophomore

Administration: It's a pretty relaxed school, but it is strict in some areas. Parking is a big one!

5 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: There is virtually one of everything within walking or a short driving distance to campus. A great variety of both local and chain restaurants as well as a mix of fine-dining and fast food options.

4 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: The campus itself is very safe I would say. Once you step off-campus a little though is when it gets sketchy.

4 College Sophomore

Administration: I appreciate that the school does take things like drinking and drug use into consideration and doesn't just look the other way.

Diversity: Coming from Miami, I find that FSU is not very diverse.

Off-Campus Housing: You are paying for proximity, not quality.

Party Scene: There are plenty of paces to drink and dance.

Campus Quality: We usually have big turnouts for on campus events.

Off-Campus Dining: It's a nice break from the on campus cafeterias.

Campus Housing: I've never lived on campus, but my boyfriend does. His dorm is unique in that it has a kitchen, living room, bathroom, a desk, and a separate bedroom (he lives in Rogers if you're curious), but the quality of the room is very poor, and it is NOT spacious at all.

Party Scene: The first party I went to at FSU was near the stadium,, and there were so many people there! Probably over 3000. The cover charge was $2 and you could go in and out if you had a wristband (which you get when you walk in).

4 College Sophomore

Technology: I would definitely bring your own computer. You don't have to have one in class most of the time, but you will need it for school work.

4 College Sophomore

Academics: Academics at FSU are great. You learn a lot, but you have to study.

4 College Sophomore

Academics: I've heard some complaints about professors from my friends, but I really haven't had a bad experience with it. Some of them were tough, but that meant that I learned more in that class. Landis is a great place to relax and study if you want to get some vitamin D, but Dirac and Strozier are great libraries.

3 College Sophomore

Transportation: I don't use public transportation, or know anyone that does, but there are a few bus stops around campus, and parking spots that are specifically designated for zip cars .

You would be hard-pressed to find a graduate of Florida State University who doesn’t have fond memories of the years they spent on campus. Current students will also agree that they are happy with their decision to attend school here. There is something for everyone, from athletics to academia, and you would have a hard time finding a more comfortable setting than Tallahassee. It has so much to offer, from exciting nightlife to beautiful weather.

Although it bears the reputation of a party school, FSU also has a growing reputation for turning out some of the best and brightest graduates in the entire nation. The school is now turning its focus on research, which should appeal to those interested in science and mathematics. But never fear, FSU also emphasizes the arts through their award-winning film and theater departments. From math and science, to the arts, FSU offers a vast array of eclectic degrees, which will be nothing but helpful later in your life. Choosing which college to attend is not an easy decision, but if you’re looking for the perfect combination of a good education and a good time, you can’t do much better than Florida State University.
