4 College Freshman

Diversity: The University has a lot of different clubs etc. which makes it easy for you to meet friends and people that are your ethnicity or religion.

Health & Safety: I feel very safe at the FSU campus. There is a police department on sight and if you need a law enforcement officer to escourt you to your vehicle they will assist you. The campus has it set up where students can receive text messages on their cell phones when there is some type of crime at the school. The school also has good lighting at night which makes me feel better when walking to my vehicle.

3 College Junior

Administration: Cops can be strict with drinking but they're not very active.

Campus Housing: Buildings are pretty rundown and the dorms are nasty and bug ridden.

4 College Junior

Greek Life: The Greek Life is very strong and an active presence on campus.

1 College Freshman

Parking: The parking on campus is awful. There are hardly any spots open and often times you have to drive around for a while before you find anything, if you even are able to find anything.

3 College Freshman

Drug Safety: Depending on where you go and who you are with, drugs can sometimes be around, but nothing has ever been an issue with drugs. There have been no major problems

4 College Freshman

Transportation: There are multiple different bus routes running all day. Some are on campus, and there are even ones that go from on campus to off campus.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: I rate our campus housing an A- because although there are some really nice options for freshman and upperclassman housing, there are also some really bad dorms that my friends have been in. They are building new dorms though!

4 College Sophomore

Athletics: Although some of our sports teams haven't been successful, I rate them an A because of how big of a part it is on campus.

3 College Freshman

Parking: Parking on campus can be difficult to find but it is possible. There are no permit costs at all so you don't have to worry about the extra fee. You don't need a car on campus but it is nice to have one.

4 College Freshman

Administration: The police policies are very strict and no nonsense. They don't take these offenses lightly. You get written up and sent to a court hearing with the first offence especially if it is drugs.

4 College Junior

Party Scene: Nightlife at Florida state is very vibrant! there are so many places to go and people to meet. Florida state also offers the night nole so that you can ride the bus home after the night out.

Local Area: I love the local atmosphere of Florida State! The campus is very beautiful and close together so that it is easy to get around. It is close to many fun things to do.

4 College Junior

Guys & Girls: Guys and girls at Florida State are both friendly and good looking. Most are athletic and involved.

Weather: Tallahassee weather is WEIRD. Maybe that's why FSU has a Meteorology program, to try and figure out the weather. But really, the weather is really temperamental. We get the awesome (but muggy) sun in the Fall, and yet every afternoon it rains for about an hour, starting at about 2:00 or so. Then in the winter it can get really cold but have random scorching days, and then spring comes but winter wants to occasionally pop in and say HEY! I'm BACK! So the spring semester is a battle of shorts one day, jacket and pants the next. WEIRDDDD

4 College Junior

Transportation: Transportation around campus is GREAT! There are bus stops everywhere on campus and buses constantly passing these stops on different routes, but usually stopping at a place that you can get off before being stolen away from campus. As for being off campus and getting to campus, I am not so sure...I have always lived within biking/walking distance from campus.

OH and late at night there is the night nole which runs an excellent route around campus, and there is always the safe bus (which after like 6pm you can call, from anywhere on campus, and it will pick you up and take you anywhere else on campus)

3 College Junior

Off-Campus Housing: There are many off-campus housing locations available to students at FSU, however, finding one within a reasonable price range is difficult. Most places with say, 4 bedrooms and 3 to 4 bathrooms run at an average of $450 rent (per month), not including utilities. Additionally, the services around town that help "match" you up with an apartment or a townhome or a house, they won't look for anything below that rent scheme (usually)...SO if you are looking for cheaper locations, you have to sacrifice either A) Distance from campus or B) Your time scouring craiglist for more word-of-mouth housing posts/suggestions....

OOH AND DON'T GET ME STARTED ON TRYING TO GET A SUMMER SUBLEASE. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE UNLESS YOU PAY SOMEONE TO FIND ONE FOR YOU OR YOU HAVE A DIRECT FRIEND...

Athletics: As an athlete, there are a lot of perks. We have access to a lot of facilities and treatment. The athletic trainers are great and always available. The teams, training, and coaches are all great. School spirit is huge at Florida State. Everyone goes all out for the sporting events, especially football. Athletics are a very big part of Florida State.

4 College Sophomore

Local Area: Everybody's very friendly and cordial. During game day the Seminole spirit definitely comes out.

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: Like in any other college town there are nice places and low quality places. My personal experience at West 10 has been great. My 1/1 is very spacious, TV included, washer and dryer in the unit. Maintenance is there when you have problem and staff is friendly. Amenities are quite nice. It is a little above the average price range but nice. Campus circle is also a great option, but it can be quite pricey.

4 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: There are several choices around the city ranging from fast food to moderately expensive places.

3 College Sophomore

Parking: Garages are full by 7.40 am. Sometimes it takes 20 or 30 minutes to find a parking spot after 7.30 am.

4 College Junior

Technology: The computers are very nice and up to date, the only negative part is that there are not a large number of them

4 College Sophomore

Administration: Campus police are very helpful and are more concerned about student's safety (in cases of underage drinking) than about making an arrest.

You would be hard-pressed to find a graduate of Florida State University who doesn’t have fond memories of the years they spent on campus. Current students will also agree that they are happy with their decision to attend school here. There is something for everyone, from athletics to academia, and you would have a hard time finding a more comfortable setting than Tallahassee. It has so much to offer, from exciting nightlife to beautiful weather.

Although it bears the reputation of a party school, FSU also has a growing reputation for turning out some of the best and brightest graduates in the entire nation. The school is now turning its focus on research, which should appeal to those interested in science and mathematics. But never fear, FSU also emphasizes the arts through their award-winning film and theater departments. From math and science, to the arts, FSU offers a vast array of eclectic degrees, which will be nothing but helpful later in your life. Choosing which college to attend is not an easy decision, but if you’re looking for the perfect combination of a good education and a good time, you can’t do much better than Florida State University.
